  • END THE FED AND THE CORPORATE CORRUPTION

  • Wait a minute! This vid is from 2009? The "Wrong Wing" is saying that President Obama caused the economic meltdown. ??????

They all need to be prosecuted to the full degree of the law.

  • Here is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to each of the U.S. Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the personal benefit of Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to each of the citizens of the United States".

  • He's just another Keynsian. The Fed had to be shut down. You can't create jobs with lower interest rates. Listen to Ron Paul and Peter Schiff. They really have the right answers what to do.

  • Sanders' films here are the only useful propaganda you people are "producing".

  • shut up , have you ever heard of Ron Paul?? Father of the real tea PARTY MOVEMENT??? Do you even read??? Probably not...

  • @nlamendola

who the fuck do you think you're talking to? i never said anything negative about Ron Paul. i vote for him. and i'm pretty sure i read much more than you ever will, asshole. shouting in caps.

  • Hero !

  • This guy rocks. Put him in charge.

  • Right ON! Ron Paul and Sanders for 2012. Not Sarah Palin-Beck for heaven's sake...

  • I like Dr. Paul, Sanders, Alan Grayson, & Dennis Kucini.

    They're all Constitutionalists.

  • very good stuff - join GOV360

  • forget about 2012 - the Constitution is designed to give the people power - that means 2010 is the more important election - we do not live in a dictatorship

  • GO SENATOR SANDERS

this man should run for president.

maybe then we would see some change

  • Sanders Kicks Ass

We need more Senators like this.....

  • If you look at turnout statistics across America, turnout is higher than average in VT where Sanders was elected and lower than average in states like CA and AL where complete MORONS get elected - that is why Gov360 is here - to show that LOW TURNOUT leads to BAD GOVERNMENT

    SUBSCRIBE TODAY!

  • With California, It depends on the congressman or senator. Boxer, Barbara Lee, Lynn Woosley and other true progressives are great. Fienstien, Haller and other blue dogs SUCK!!

  • On Alabama, they did have a great governor once named Don Siegelman. But he was thrownout because Karl Rove and the current governor, Riely framed him for crimes he did not commit.

  • The fed should not even exist--they hijacked control of this country's money. This guy is a douchebag! Abolish the fed and give back control to the treasury. This shit is like organized crime--it's fucking unbelievable that people are not screaming in the streets.

  • No surprise obamessiah would appoint gangster bankster Bernanke after appointing TurboTaxCheat Geithner of the NY Federal Reserve as treasurer.

  • Thank you Senator Sanders. We are sinking! So glad someone has the courage to call these hoodlums out - I always believed this whole scenario was methodically and systemically planned years ago. And while you take apart the banks, replace the Fed chairman and restore our faith, would you also dismantle Goldman Sachs? Or at least insist they move their corporate office outside of America?

    Respectfully yours,

    A sinking citizen

  • Senator Sanders YOU ROCK!!!

  • I hope you are also calling the White House and your Senators. THAT is the support he is talking about.

  • That font-of-wisdom Ben Bernanke has suggested trimming Social Security and medicare to reduce the deficit. " That's where the money is," he said.

When reminded that most of the money is with the upper 5%, he didn't have an opinion. Bernanke is obviously one of these Free Market Zealots, which I consider no less dangerous than the Muslim Zealots. Obama should use all the anti-terror powers at his disposal to deal with these economic terrorists! Use the power, take back the country!

  • I concur with what others have said as well. The basic economic model prioritized by the FED and henceforth by the American economy as a whole (the only real thing that 'trickled down') is in principle a pyramid scheme. And as such it is only a matter of time before it collapses. And then it becomes logical as the sole choice of action to keep the system artificially alive until it does run its course.

  • Even if we have another chairman, how would we know this chairman would do the right thing?

I say the whole thing is corrupted. Shouldn't the Fed itself fail? Since it already failed it's theoretical job of "stabilizing the economy" (BS).

It is truly their for the elite powers and nothing else! So in fact they ARE doing their actual job. Let it fail and fall!!!

  • keep up the good work Senator. Anyone who sees these should 5* and comment by the way, since that will result in more exposure and obviously contribute to a quantifiable base of supporters.

  • you have my support, what can I do? I think a whole video on "what can I do?" would be a good idea

  • @francescorengifo

I've said it twice already, but I'm always happy to repeat it. Call the White House at 202-456-1111 (don't be afraid it is their public comment line).

Tell them you support Senator Sanders. Tell them BEN BERNANKE IS NOT THE CHANGE YOU VOTED FOR. Tell them you want ELIZABETH WAREN TO CHAIR THE FED! Tell them PLEASE STAND UP TO THE BANKERS, PLEASE DO WHAT IS RIGHT.

  • You've got my support.

  • Perhaps the Federal Reserve should be converted to a government agency. Oh, and dump Bernanke.

  • DESTROY THE FED! They create the bubble, have their friends and private business associates position themselves in the right places, then burst the bubble they created, thus consolidating the wealth into fewer and fewer hands. WE ARE DEBT SLAVES! WAKE UP!

  • Ah, the Fed-haters. Let's be honest, Bernanke was taken in by the generalized belief that in essence the private market would somehow take care of everything. It is hard to remember that just about everyone bought into that dream. You can't blame Bernanke, and we should thank him for digging us out of this recession, before we fell over the edge. Sanders is wrong on his views about Bernanke and the federal reserve, despite my believing he is a good man.

  • What!!?? Are you rich!? The middle class is being systematically destroyed in this country! There is no private market! There is no free market!! Free enterprise!?? A fuckin' joke! It's all controlled by the corporate conglomerates! Jesus! Get a clue! Sanders has his finger on the pulse of reality for the little guy! All anybody wants in this country is a small piece of the huge pie that is wealth! Except those who want to control every inch of this planet! Read "Adam Smith's Mistake" .....;

  • captnorth: Jesus, you moron, I'm in agreement with much of what you say, but Bernanke is just an economist, lol!!! Both you and Sanders are way off!! The problem is the unholy relationship between the corporate chieftains and the political class, and the more unholy amounts of money that are funneled ot our elected officials and others.

  • If Bernanke is right, why did he say that Congress needs to raid Social Security and Medi-Care and not tax the rich?

  • jc8ward: Because one cannot talk about hiking taxes without incurring the wrath of the guys that are paying all the bills, that is, the CEOs of major corporations and others. Do you really expect the head of the Fed to talk like a disaffected college student, lol??!!

  • big bernie is in the hizzie

  • END THE FED.... They have been in control of Washington since 1913..... OBAMA is a NEW WORLD ORDER SCUM.... Research: THE NEW WORLD ORDER and JOHN PERKINS...

  • Give power back to the Treasury? With Tim Geithner, former NY Fed Chairman.

The Fed creates money through open market operations conducted by the NY Fed:

sale and purchase of U.S. government securities from approved securities dealers.

It pays for them by crediting the accounts that the dealers' banks have at the NY Fed. The credits can be used by banks for new loans to borrowers. When new loans are made, the money supply is increased.

  • @vgclovis yes - replace Tim Geithner with Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan Chase - at least he's Jewish!

  • Federal Reserve Note: Pure Fiat Money.

Not redeemable in gold, silver or any other commodity and receive no backing by anything.

You cannot convert your notes for gold, but for other notes: 100 for two 50s, five 20s, ten 10s, or one hundred $ 1 bills.

The notes are a pure abstraction whose creation is no longer constrained by reference to anything else. Essentially, pieces of paper completely decoupled from anything tangible.

  • Audit the Federal Reserve: HR 1207 and S 604

  • Why have the banks control everything, when we can have our Treasury do it?

We dont' need the FED, it was only created in 1913. END THE FED

  • Bernake & Wall Street fucked up, but than they got their bailout so everybody and everything is fine...

oh, sorry i fergot, we the ppl have to pay that money back!!

thank you Bush, thank you Obama and special thanks to the Fed for greatest robbery in history!!

there is no fight dems against reps (divide and conquer).. that is a distraction a hoax! the fight is Rich against Poor!!

  • get that ass hole out of there

  • The FED wants to keep operating in total secrecy despite not preventing a near Great Depression!? WTF? YOU LOST YOUR SECRECY PRIVILEGES! And Mr. Bernanke didn't even cap credit card interest after failing us?

SUPPORT BERNIE SANDERS. Call the White House 202-456-1111 tell them YOU DO NOT APPROVE OF BEN BERNANKE. YOU WANT ELIZABETH WARREN TO CHAIR THE FED.

  • The government needs revenue yet Obama appears to want to keep in place Reagan supply side tax rates ! If Obama raised taxes on the top 5 percent of Billionaires by 30 percent the national debt could be wiped out in 5 years. Bernie mentions tax cuts for small business, but what is a small business? There are companies with 250 workers with millionaire CEOS that pay the workers a dollar above minimum wage or use illegal alien cheap labor. Those companies are considered small businesses.

  • I would vote to BOOT OUT BEN BERNANKE, the Great Depression expert, who obviously did not have a fundamental understanding of the causes of America's first depression in the 30's.

  • "It is their responsibility to protect the FINANCIAL SYSTEM"

And the FED did their job in that regard? By allowing over leveraged near worthless derivatives to be sold? By allowing Goldman Sachs to short them while touting them to their customers??? Bovine excrement!

  • All I want for Christmas is to see Bernanke out of a job and on "the Street." Go Bernie!

  • Great man.

  • That's my a home boy, Bernie!!

    That a boy, Bernster!!

Socialism should be for the poor, not the super rich! Let them compete in a free market like the rest of us!

  • ELIZABETH WARREN FOR FED CHAIRPERSON! Of all the people President Obama has appointed to an economic position, this woman seems to be the smartest, straight forward, most knowledgeable, honest and when she explains things on television - I GET IT!!!

  • Hear! Hear! I gave you a ThumbsUp. Today I am your dittohead.

  • Senator Sanders FOR EMPEROR!

  • Two great people for new FED Chairman: Elizabeth Warren or Brooksley Born. Both bright women of PROVEN CHARACTER.

  • It's time for the giant American 'middle class' to rise up against these type of powerful bureaucrats, like Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, that represents the 1% of the super rich and the bankers/brokers on Wall Street...support Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont for his refusal to endorse Bernanke to a new 4 year term...the status quo most go!

  • Right, call or write your Senators. Join a political group that shares your values AND IS ACTIVIST.

You can call the White House at 202-456-1111 and tell them YOU SUPPORT BERNIE SANDERS AND INSIST THAT OBAMA APPOINT A FED CHAIRMAN THAT DOESN'T HAVE AN ELITIST ADENDA!

  • Mr. Bernanke has been doing quite a pubplicity blitz leading up to his re-election...Thanks Senator Sanders for answering the question "Why?". I totally agree!

  • How did this guy sneak into the corrupt world of Congress? Can we clone just one person for the people?

    Thanks Senator Sanders.

  • He was voted in by the great people of Vermont who say in him an honesty and sincerity that you don't often see in politicians. He's one of the few politicians who really and truly is a public servant.

  • The only thing lacking here is straight forward discussion of how criminally unconstitutional the federal reserve is.

    But hey, it's a start!

  • Tanks Senator Sanders!!! keep up the good work!!!!

  • Great Job Sanders.

Come on where is the real CHANGE

  • Anyone who's nominated to the Fed will be corrupt.

  • Sanders and Grayson are the kind of people usa needs right now

  • Where's the Fed?

    Rereading Atlas Shrugged!

♥ Service, Peace, Love, Equality, Compassion, Laughter & Hope! ♥

  • Senator Sanders, you set the benchmarks all Federal lawmakers should strive for: honesty, intelligence and courage. You are awesome.

  • Thanks Bernie, I only wish we had many more like you. It seems everyone in govt. has their hand out, except for a select few.

  • When will Bernenke be arrested? When will we see handcuffs placed oin his wrists and ankles. This guy embezzeled trillions of our money and he hid this money in his own bank accounts. He is in cahoots with those terrorists Bush & Cheney. Bernenke should be thrown in prison today! Is there anyone out there who can arrest this bearded bastard?

  • Give 'em hell, Bernie!

Thank you for standing up for us. Those big banks should be broken up. That's why we have antitrust laws. Aren't they subject to those? We need real oversight and protection for working people. Reagan & Bush II obliterated all of that.

If I could, I'd vote for you.

  • Sen. Sanders people like you force me to respect America... Despite the disgusting socio-economic policies that have been regurgitated for the last 40yrs of American history...

It is foolish to believe Obama CAN change the nature of the Fed. Reserve and the "too big to fail" banks/ institutions ... I do like to believe that he would want to, but even that is becoming less and less apparent

Senators like this man are going to be the KEY to America's future

  • We need more people like Sen. Sanders in government. The oligarchy has way too much power and influence nowadays, and has driven the nation into disaster.

  • I applaud Senator Sanders taking this brave stance against the President and the Wall Street thugs. Obama just isn't interested in the CHANGE he promised us. He can bring that change a lot faster by appointing the right people, but I guess he'd rather see his poll numbers slide into the ditch.

  • "I spent most of my time (in the military as) a high class muscle-man for Wall Street. I was a gangster for capitalism."

Quote from the 1935 pamphlet 'War is a Racket' written by Major General Smedley Butler, United States Marine Corps, one of only 20 soldiers to twice be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

  • righton Bernie, I admire every stand you take. almost makes me eant to move to Vermont -- oe of the smartest, bestest people I know once lived there. You make me say "God bless the state of Vermont" and God bless you Bernie -- so unlike that OTHER Bernie who was such a sorry example of a human being.

    Go Bernie!!

I wouldn't vote for Bernanke either, if I had a vote.

  • LOL

Cmon Chapmanarthur Bernanke has done an excellent job? How the hell do you know? To what information are you privy that the rest of the world isn't?

The game's up. Audit the corrupt instituiton and incarcerate the lot of them on rackateering charges.

The most powerful institution in the world - the fed - was created by passing legislation over the Christmas Holidays in 1913 while Congress was shut down. The fix has always been in with these crooks.

  • we're with you sen. sanders!!! get these A. HOLES!

  • You've got my support on this Sen. Sanders.

  • Euro Vs Dollar

Illuminaties want to go Hong Kong/Singapor/Caribian$ to add 2 US Canada Australia $ .

  • Spot on, Bernie! Go for it!

  • Go get 'em, Sen. Sanders!

  • Bernanke is one more reason why I distrust the Obama Administration. Change we can't believe in.

  • Actually, Bernanke DID do the job for which he was paid. Bernanke serves the interests of the large Wall Street banks. Bernanke is the pilot, the facilitator for the looting of the taxpayer by Wall Street. Bravo to Sen. Sanders. Mr. Bernanke belongs in prison, along with his confederates in government and on Wall Street. Isn't it amazing how often these "self-regulating" markets need to be bailed out by the taxpayer? What a scam.

  • Bernie I will help you change the system!

I will be running as an Independent for Illinois district 10 in 2012

In 2010 and 2012 If you don't vote Independent, Don't complain about your government

    we need

    - Universal health care

    -green jobs

    -renewable energy

    -prosecute the Bush administration

    --free college education

If elected I will be the youngest house representative (25 years old) a voice for the generation that's getting stuck with the bill for these unpopular, unapproved wars.

  • fighting the fed is not a left/right issue. liberals and conservative bases need to unite to take this evil creature down. if it was truly bipartisan from the ground up there is no way our politicians could refuse to respond. as soon as that done with we can go back to fighting over retarded issues like Gay Marriage, m'kay? :)

  • its the war on America by the gov

  • Rich people tend to want to defend, protect, hang with, and look out for like minded people. He he doesn't bolster the hierarchy of injustice that is in place, he would be treated as a traitor to his kind. For him and his kind, making the problems of iniquitiy are the only realistic solution if he is going to be loyal to his class, his home ground, and his nature. He live by a docrtrine of rich players, who would disown his ass or maybe even make him have an accident if he doesn't go along.

  • Way too simplistic thinking. You have to go back to Greenspan to find out what happened. Bernanke has done an excellent job staving off another Depression. Bernanke was absolutely correct for not disclosing the names of the financial institutions that received zero interest loans. How can you not understand the sensitivity of such information?

It's like you are behaving like a child with this kind of thinking. I'm usually a big supporter - but you've lost me on this one.

  • I don't understand your argument. Why is it necessary to keep information about the Fed's activites secret? What is the harm in allowing congress the ability to audit the Fed?

  • gunslinger107, that's easy. All the big bamks are houses of cards: look at Dubai and Russia... Wealth, value, costs, money itself, none of it is real - it's all a mirage. So, risks were taken (maybe laws were broken) to keep the system from collapsing. If the chairman names names, he'll expose the duct tape and glue. Everyone will know where the cracks are. People like to avoid cracks. It will certainly to levels of stress that will again put the entire system at risk.

  • The system is rotten at its core, and must be dismantled and rebuilt on firmer footing. I don't trust Geitner to do that, but I do trust Bernie, Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.

  • Bernie and Dennis yes ... Ron Paul is a pseudo-libertarian who is a pusher of mis-information, which is why he is cool with nutjobs like Alex Jones

  • I see a big problem with your argument. The banking system must be reformed in order to make it stable again. Hiding information from the public will not help reform, it will hinder it. The best way to get reform is to expose how weak and unstable it is. This will provide the political will to get reform done.

  • You are dead on right that the root of the whole problem is political willpower; in that we have to question how much longer will elected officials continue to do what's good for the party and good for their cauffers, before some will be brave enough to DEMAND what's best for the American people.

  • The only reason that someone supports Fed secrecy is because they've bought into the fearmongering or because they profit off of it.

  • If the Fed had told you in March that your bank where you had all of your life savings, your companies savings and your towns bonds, was one of the banks that was in financial trouble - you would pull your money out as fast as you could. There would be a run on so many banks that the system would collapse.

I really don't think anyone has a clue on what could have happened. Have you ever lived through a Great Depression?

  • @chapmanarthur Not since the "Domino Theory" during Viet Nam have I heard such fear mongering tripe used to extort the U.S. population. How did that ultimately turn out?

Don't you think that if the "Too Big to Fails" were to have been busted up, their remaining assets leveled, smaller and more local competitors without the derivative baggage would have done much better with the TARP money and easily filled the vacuum?

Sorry to hear you fell for the big heist.

  • Exactly. What's more, we wouldn't have to break up the banks if we simply let them fail. If we'd given all that TARP money to actual people instead of the corporations, then that's something like $50K for every American family. Other banks would have come along to employ those fired from their old jobs (hopefully not the execs)

Too big to fail my ass. If it's about the middle class, then help out the middle class. The rest takes care of itself.

  • The purpose of the FED is to guarntee your money that has been deposited in banks. The FED was created precisely to prevent a run on banks. If the FED told me tomorrow that my bank was in financial trouble, I would not be conerned about losing my money.

  • @gunslinger107

when you realized that they dont even have on hand even 10% of the 20% of the amount they would be required to have in reserves to pay the insured and that your deposits are not fully insured , anything over [I think] 200K per depositer is forfeit..they are now implementing new gouging fees to try to beef up that alleged required reserve amount...but 20 % won't cover you all he way either....just 20 % of course...now is not the time to have faith in any secular system...:0(

  • 3rdwitness:

I see what you are saying, but I still don't buy your argument.

  • you can't see that the economic collapse was deliberately engineered?

they knew only we need to take risks, and they get bailed out with our money

we have the worst elements of the market and the state

  • It's the military industrial complex. If you have a military contract you cannot be allowed to fail due to national security. There goes your free market and 51% of income tax.

  • Sanders 2012! :)

  • Excellent as always.

  • Isn't this the ultimate crossover issue that COULD unite Americans regardless of those useless party affiliations? Can anyone provide an argument for why Republican Party philosophy should support the very existence of the Fed? Most conservatives I know (family relatives) are championing Ron Paul's effort to audit the Fed. But no, the useless 2-party system of America demands that parties remain divided even though citizens are mostly agreed: kill the Fed completely. explain pls,

  • the hedge funds and derivative market should be regulated. they created the real estate bubble and oil bubble. Now they are creating the gold bubble.

  • according to the Constitution, the federal reserve is illegitimate. since it violates the Constitution. Congress could very easily dissolve the federal reserve fraud.

  • Comment removed

  • Just END THE FED!

Follow the constitution. Article 1, section 8.

  • The bonuses are bigger than ever and Republicans put pressure on everyone when there was talk of capping bonuses to $400-500K.

  • HEY I HAVE AN IDEA. If they're too big to fail, LETS MAKE THEM SMALLER.

  • We need to get rid of the Federal Reserve.... it's a FAILED system that works only for the BIG FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS !

  • dont end the fed-fix the fed

give the federal government power over the federal reserve. right now it might actually be the stupidest thing ever

  • Why does our country need a private bank to make our money for us then charge us interest. It doesn't make sense to me. I think ND has the right idea they have a state bank it seems to serve them well.

  • How do you fix a FAILED system? For every dollar the Fed prints WE the tax payer pay them the interest. The Fed is not designed to serve the people it is designed to serve the banks and to make give them power. Time to give the power back to the Treasury department.

  • i dont mean work with the fed we have. i just mean that we shouldn't scrap the idea of a national bank.

  • National bank run by whom? If there isn't strict government oversight then nothing has changed. I believe it's time to give the power back to the Treasury Department.

  • thats what i mean

  • Sen Sanders why didn't you find him in contempt of Congress?

  • cant the FED cant have that done yet there has to be a bill passed to do that thats what fucked up about the FED and it can do what it wants pretty much and alan grayson is trying to put a stop to that

  • wrong

anyone who doesn't answer can be found in contempt of Congress. Has nothing to do with HR 1207 or S 604

  • not when it comes to the FED y do u think they can get away with printing money as they please there is no cap on the FED and alan grayson is working on fixing that problem and there r so many other things the FED can get away with caz they cant be in contempt

  • Comment removed

  • what does that have to do with Bernanke in Contempt of Congress?

  • Because he wasn't. The fed is under no control by Congress. The fed operates completely independent. That's the problem and why Ron Paul and Sen. Sanders, and Alan Grayson want to audit the fed.

  • by refusing to answer his question he was in contempt of Congress - this has nothing to do with HR1207 or S604

  • all those on Food Stamps should be given Goldman stock - they'd fair better right now

  • lofl thats fucking laughable goldman shouldnt be getting anything hes a fucking prick he should go bankrupt that would be the fair thing

  • the man whose job it was to watch Wall Street is now Obama's Sec of Treasury

Obama will veto any audit the FED bill, he will twist arms to get Bernanke reappointed

There are only two other options Bernanke resigns & some other clown is appointed or Obama steps up and cleans house - don't hold your breath

It's up to the American People now to rise up -

    don't hold your breath

There's a whole group of these guys who should be hung for treason or in jail longer than Bernie Madoff's 150 years

  • To big to fail my ass.

    Let it fail.

  • The Federal Reserve provided the easy money that fueled this crisis. Bernie, you correctly identify the Fed as the problem but it was not an oversight problem, the Fed it itself caused the problem. Without the Fed's low interest rates the problem would never have grown out of control.

  • Utter horseshit, what the fuck is wrong with you? The banks a load of garbage mortgages, painted it up as a hedge fund and then took out insurance "in case" the hedge fund crashed. That's not business that's a con trick.

You do realize in the EU there are specific enforced laws against those scams. The criminality and collusion between banks and auditors which is the norm in the US would lead to hard prison sentences in the civilized world.

  • Do learn some economics and get back to me.

You do realize that the Federal Reserve is the central bank of the country? Interest rates and credit are set and provided by the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve's directors and stockholders are the the big banks and the people running the big banks. If you have a problem with the big banks then you also have a problem with the Federal Reserve. Did you fail to realize that they are one and the same?

  • Oh you poor child. You just don't understand it and because of your limited education and background it scares you. Don't worry sonny it's all to do with the money markets which you don't understand. You should learn something about how it actually works not just scare yourself with Alex Jones and Ron Paul nonsense.

  • Again, learn some economics and then maybe we can have an intelligent discussion.

You're free to spout your uninformed opinion of what happened (i.e. what the media tells you happened) but the truth eventually wins every debate, it's just a matter of time.
