Sorum is actually quite a skilled drummer. You have to remember he had actually been around the L.A. scene during the same time as his future GNR bandmates. So, it's not like he was just some bum in off the corner when Slash saw him playing with the Cult in 1990. His problem, I've always felt, is that he was too polished for GNR, compared to who he succeeded. But, I don't think his skills can be downplayed at all.

If you really look at it Steve played drums for two original GnR albums and so did Matt if not more if you include SI (but it is not original music). They both equally contributed to GnR.

I like Matt Sorum a lot more than Steven Adler.The GnR songs i like the most are from Use your illusion I and II, wich are played by Matt.I think Steven is a great dummer and give him credit for being the original one, but for me GnR=Matt Sorum.
But what you don't know is that allmost all of the Illusions songs were written before Matt joined the band, they were all written by Steven. All the old Guns records were good (except maybe the Spaghetti Incident). But Appetite is possibly the best album ever recorded.

Matt Sorum would not have anywhere near the fame he has today had he not been in GnR. He became Rock royalty at that point - and that was when music had reach and meaning, prior to the internet and farmed production. Velvet Revolver became a reality only because of GnR splitting.

I like Matt Sorum a lot more than Steven Adler.The GnR songs i like the most are from Use your illusion I and II, wich are played by Matt.I think Steven is a great dummer and give him credit for being the original one, but for me GnR=Matt Sorum.

But what you don't know is that allmost all of the Illusions songs were written before Matt joined the band, they were all written by Steven. All the old Guns records were good (except maybe the Spaghetti Incident). But Appetite is possibly the best album ever recorded.

it doesnt matter if matt was a fuckin replacement drummer or not, the fact is that, steven, was a good drummer, but couldnt hold his shit together. matt took over and helped put out some good tunes from not only GNR but velvet too, therefore, i think both are good drummers, but matt can actually hold his shit together.
