For any of you who might know who Carlton Haney is there is a group on Facebook called 'Carlton Haney's Bluegrass Festival'. It is an open forum where pictures, videos, comments, conversations, etc. are posted about this era of bluegrass. Just a heads up.
@TruegrassBoy Don't think it was Vernon (Junior) McIntyre as he would have still been playing at the Ken Mill in Cincinnati, OH. He did play banjo for Martin sometime after that.
FINALLY I have found the "entire" version of Jimmy Martin playing Shenedoah Waltz off the High Lonesome vid. Although it does seem that there is a part missing in the middle.
Just kidding. Don't know him personally just have the same last name. Im from WNC in some way i am related to him just wanted to c what kind of reaction i would get. Dirty trick I Know
I was there, and what you see is the way it was. (My friend Phil Zimmerman and I ran the tape recorder for Ralph Rinzler, and so got in free. We didn't have to pay the $6 admission for the three days, camping included. :-) )
I just realized that the tune that Mac Wiseman starts this set off with ("Six More Miles") is one he he played bass on with Molly O'Day -- which is where he got his start.
Good music -- back when Fincastle was an actual town. Sadly, Fincastle is now pretty much a suburb. Yet, if you know what roads to take, it is surrounded by some of the wildest greenest, freakin' breath takin' land one could ever hope to find. I live in Buchanan which is still a viable town but, pretty as it is, don't hold a candle to the wilderness still left untouched not far from Fincastle.
hiya there, i think the great john hartford played the best bluegrass music on his banjo amazing to watch i love this music 5 stars for you super 10/10 for this video takecare andy
i always remembering going on trips with my grandpa and grandma listen to music like this for hours and hours..im not normal a big fan of this music but sumthing about the easy rythm and song gets me attached to it.
I met mac wiseman, when he came to england on tour in the late 70,s he was no more than 10stone in weight, he was a gentleman real nice guy, an I sang with him
These were the Masters of Bluegrass. There are some great people who have taken the torch that was passed and are carrying on this great, authentic music. Let's hope it never dies.
Wow I'm so proud this survived all those years so I could see it!! I'm very grateful that you are sharing and keeping this classic music alive!!

Now on Poor Ellen Smith they got Jimmy Martin singing, Bill Emerson on banjo. Is the mando player Vernon McIntyre? Is it Bill Yates on bass?

Jimmy Martin was also on the Wheeling Jamboree along with Mac. One of the greatest singers ever in Bluegrass.
