Got this one from target from 22$. I was gonna get the camper but this one has the greatest scissors. I ussually only take this and a becker necker when im in the woods. Very good tool amazing price 9.6/10
Leatherman is better for someone who'll want something for a lot of maintenance work, in my opinion. I use Victorinox because as a minimalist hiker/camper, I don't want to lug around a bunch of metal I know for a fact I'll never use. in fact right now I just use the classic Alox, but I plan on getting the huntsman this summer.
jk i bought one on vacation and lost it in the woods and then i bought another one and i love it. i think mine cost more because i got them with a camo design
for me the saw pattern is too aggressive for carving and btw i find that the new can/bottle opener on the compact works much better than the standard one
Excellent review. I just bought a Huntsman myself. I decided to spend a little more and got the one with the lite and clear red face. Hope that was a good idea. Anyway thank you for the help in choosing.
I recently got the Super TInker and the Camper and thought that they were both 6 out of 10 because theyhad tools tht I would need together but on teo different tools...glaad I found this cuz its a perfect mix! :D
Here's a short demo of how to use the sewing eye on that reamer/awl: watch?v=XU3yKwReVHo (not my video)
BTW, I think beer bottles still come with caps that require a lifter. I don't drink so I can't say for sure, but guys on knife forums love bottle openers, so they must be using them on something. LOL
Also, wouldn't want to use a slipjoint for stabbing unless it was *absolutely* necessary. If you had *nothing* else, then *maybe*.
@CanItAlready Thank you for your comment. I find that video to be very informative, although I do not typically sew. As for the self defense option, it would be dangerous to stab because it would likely fold on your fingers. If you had to it would be best to slash. Thanks again.
You can untie knots with the corkscrew, it can hold a Victorinox brand precision screwdriver, and it allows more clearence for the straight pin if you don't quite push it in all the way.
Have you ever seen a Swisstool? Particularly the X and Plus models? Blows any "professional" Leatherman out of the water in terms of durability, function, an especially rust resistance. If i ever get one of my Vic's dirty I just go over to a friends house and throw it in their washing machine.
@ShutUpJohnson You can untie knots with a Leatherman which has a precision screwdriver. As for the pin, the Huntsman dos not come with one anyways. When I say "professional" I mean that many people who may not know a lot about knives percive a Leatherman as something that they would use in their profession, such as a carpenter. I totally agree with you about durability, though. I love my SAK's and I was in no way trying to sound like I disliked them. Sorry if I sounded like Lthrmn was better.
@pyrokid320 great video. i am getting a huntsman for christmas now that i've seen it's featured. great prices too. only $30 at target as far as i know. and i have braces too, so a toothpick would work great.
i have the swiss champ and the swiss trekker and i also have the leatherman wave realy good knives i carry the swiss champ or trekker when i am in the forest and i carry the wave when im in the city
Do NOT say leatherman is more profesional it is WRONG
Both are the best multitools you can get only with different ways of use
Victorinox got the best EDC multitools and Leatherman the best industrial tools
btw Victorinox have the best quality tools you can find people have tested them by placing them in saltwater and other corrosive liquids for 4 weeks and they where just like new
What i meant to get across was that Leathermans seem more heavy duty in the eyesof the "non knife person." Plus, swiss army knives don't lock except the swiss tool and their locking models, and Leatherman makes tools that are generally heavier than SAKs.
It's like ten dollars more expensive right? I tend not to purchase or use knives with flashlight because they run out of battery. You can replace them, but I prefer to just carry a flashlight seperatly. Plus it has the mini screwdriver in it. If you had $10 on hand, I would get the lite version.
I don't know about the pen, but I'm sure it is as secure as the toothpick and tweezers. I have never had any experience of the tweezers or toothpick come out without me wanting them to in either the huntsman or smaller classic models. They are very tight and very secure.
Good review. Good knife (Very Sleek). I'm going to purchase this in black sometimes this weekend. What kinda bums me out is the knife not having a screw driver (4 heads). The flat screw driver is pretty nice, but I'm unsure how useful is it. Also, you said that the corkscrew and bottle opener is kinda useless since everything nowadays is a twist off. Lol, I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing you're 13. Guess what, that corkscrew and bottle opener is going to come in handy someday.
subed you made me come to the conclution of geting this knife. thanks and keep up the good work : )

That small screwdriver/can opener works on most Phillips screws so don't worry about having one on the back

@pyrokid320 umm... i think you can take each tool off seperately. But it take A LOT of strength.

I would recommend the Field Master over this. It is the exact same but has a phillips driver instead of the useless cork screw

I agree. This was good enough for me though. The corkscrew is pretty useless.
