Hands down for you my friend good job! I'm a drummer and it pisses me off that nowday's people just wanna see drummers throwing drumstick to the air and those kind of clown things. I can hear some people thinking this is not cool enough or loud enough but the reality is that there are many hours of practice behind this song you just have done. Keep it up!
What technique do you use for playing the right-hand shuffle? Doesn't look like Moeller. Can't really see your fingers in the video. Are you using something like push/pull or open/close with your fingers?
It doesn't matter that this Toto inspired track was influenced heavily by their sound in the 80's; it's such a beautiful piece of music! You just made Jeff smile up there in heaven Peter!
I have practice pad on stand near me so for fun i played 16th notes with right hand along your video. After 7 min i was hoping you to stop and i can do 1k strokes per minute. More stamina practice for me i guess. (i hate stone killer)
bellissima... ricordo di averla ascoltata una domenica di qualke tempo fa mentre camminavo per strada... e con questa canzone si accese di nuovo la magia.... la nostra...
Nice groove Nergretty, what's the name of the track you're playing to. Sounds like a Toto song, lilting melodies, soft but distinct backbeat. Great stuff.
Its, easy with practice, Im also inspired by Jeff Porcaro, and i practiced the 16th note technique, its real easy. The more you practice it the more easier is to execute them.
You have a formidable swing/groove, but you seriously lack originality. But hey Jeff was the swing king, and groove master of all times. I'm not being negative, but I just can't take you seriously with your Jeff Halloween costume! Nice work on the drums buddy!
hey j25k, evry persons they have their own style sometimes people they have similarity to each other . that is his own style thats original. hes not a copycat.
jeslyfirefox... Of course they do, but if you know anything about Jeff Porcaro, you might see what I mean! Anyway... I told the guy that his drumming lacks nothing! But study the way he sits behind the drums and his head-movement and everything. It's Jeff down to the detail. Almost scary!
Hi guys! Thanks for the nice comments. The only secret to stamina at fast tempos is practice, practice & then relax while playing. A sound grip is making things easier of course. Cheers Peter
Hey Peter can you tell me where can i get that type of music to play along, you should have my age more less and i love this type of music i just have almost 2 years started playing i would like to have this music to use when i played.
@dnivie0790 (Without having to listen to the music here) I agree with you...my stamina is fairly limited compared to his here...I would have needed to include more fills just to give my ride hand a break!
Great video. I love Jeff's playing and your adaptation of him. Question for you since I can't ask if of Jeff any longer. How do you get your right hand to be that fast and relaxed on the 16th notes? I tense up as soon as I get anywhere close to 90bpm. 85 is all I can realistically handle. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
You should call Boz - tell him you're the guy for the "Silk Degrees Revisited Tour"?? There would barely be anyone on the face of the Earth that could lend more JP credibility to time and groove than you my man! Get on the phone now!! Look forward to meeting you at the Brisbane show of your Australian Tour! ;^))
Very very good. I would like you to play "Last Night" from the TOTO album "XX". I never had found how the hi-hat pattern on this tune was made. Today I am still amazed how Jeff Porcaro played it!
This is such an excellent video and this man is so good! Sends chills up my spine every time I hear it and I've been playing 43 years. Absolutely superb!!!!
Well, I simply have no words to describe what I feel.
This was really great and surprising. You have absolutely captured not only Jeff's groove but also his particular way of dressing every song, and this -as it's been said- J.N.H. & Friends like composition together with your playing absolutely shows it. It's perfectly played, smooth and RELAXED, and there you've got the key. I think you have received the best of Jeff from your lifetime inspiration. Congratulations!
this guy is so solid. must have had some great teachers, and obviously the right drummers influenced him. makes you want to go and hit the kit with the Dr. Beat on.
If I would not see the video I could swear that Jeff would be playing! You keep the legacy alive. I still have little goosebumps, even more, knowing that TOTO has split some days ago and won´t come back again... Sad bad true.
Thanks for your tune , which partially reminds me a little of the James Newton Howards & Friends-CD :-)
I've said it before, I think Jeff would be honored and slightly embarrassed that he inspired such a talented artist. You're playing is amazing. When does your CD come out? ;)
Peter great stuff as usual very melodic great playing, you make me learn bro.
