  • Peter great stuff as usual very melodic great playing, you make me learn bro.

  • amazing!!!!

  • Hands down for you my friend good job! I'm a drummer and it pisses me off that nowday's people just wanna see drummers throwing drumstick to the air and those kind of clown things. I can hear some people thinking this is not cool enough or loud enough but the reality is that there are many hours of practice behind this song you just have done. Keep it up!

  • Why can't every drummer be like you? (or like jeff.. whatever :P)

  • @Stick2208 gosh! what a dull world it would be if all drummers played like J pocaro :)

  • @170adamb hahaha mierenneuker :P

  • its hard that 61000 people watch this video with the stuff you are doing...but u got it and thats because of your feeling man... very good job

  • Fantastic playing. Great technique and feel.

  • Great groove and feel!

  • Great playing. Reminds me of the original drummer from Level 42.

  • Beautiful understated feel and playing!

What technique do you use for playing the right-hand shuffle? Doesn't look like Moeller. Can't really see your fingers in the video. Are you using something like push/pull or open/close with your fingers?

  • It doesn't matter that this Toto inspired track was influenced heavily by their sound in the 80's; it's such a beautiful piece of music! You just made Jeff smile up there in heaven Peter!

  • q chido audio carnal

  • subscribe to his channel, visit page: nrgretty.com and buy his Albums!

    cheers!

  • what is this song...? glad to know n hv it... i love it so much...

  • I Love you Brother for what you are doing! God bless!

  • i liked so much, good job

  • I have practice pad on stand near me so for fun i played 16th notes with right hand along your video. After 7 min i was hoping you to stop and i can do 1k strokes per minute. More stamina practice for me i guess. (i hate stone killer)

  • bellissima... ricordo di averla ascoltata una domenica di qualke tempo fa mentre camminavo per strada... e con questa canzone si accese di nuovo la magia.... la nostra...

  • MUITO BOM!!! PARABENS... ADOREI, TENHO CERTEZA QUI OUTRAS PESSOAS DAQUI DO BRASIL GOSTARAM TAMBÉM... ABRAÇÃO.

  • Hey Peter! What are those hi-hats?

  • @neilpeartishero Looks and sounds like 14" Zildjian K/Z hats.

  • the fuck you on

  • @emny88 Agree that Porcaro was a genius. But this is good stuff and not a bad copy at all. Peter's one of the best I've heard!

  • What's the Songs name ?

  • Väldigt bra hi-hat teknik! :D

  • Nice groove Nergretty, what's the name of the track you're playing to. Sounds like a Toto song, lilting melodies, soft but distinct backbeat. Great stuff.

  • man, this is like Jeff Porcaro himself playing drums again... Awesome...

  • Nice pocket man!, this is the kind of playing that keeps you paid!!

  • Una palabra: MUSICALIDAD.

    Habilidad de pocos.

    Saludos de Lima - Peru.

  • Love it man!!!

Too bad u can't here the ghost notes ur hitting..

  • What kind of warms ups do you do to build stamina in your hands for these extended 16th patterns? You make it look so effortless.

  • Its, easy with practice, Im also inspired by Jeff Porcaro, and i practiced the 16th note technique, its real easy. The more you practice it the more easier is to execute them.

  • the bass drum sounds funny in this vid... "fwoop"

  • Just the right groove for the right song.

    "Less is more"

    Great Job man!

  • Insane hi-hat technique.

  • ジェフを思い出させてくれるドラムで感動しました。ありがとう。

  • really great job man!

    and nice drum sound.

wish there was more attack on that kick but

    other than that, sounds great!

  • Great work!!

  • well done

  • nice man you kinda have that jeff look going on great playing

  • i agree,you're kinda like Jeff Porcaro's reincarnation.

  • You have a formidable swing/groove, but you seriously lack originality. But hey Jeff was the swing king, and groove master of all times. I'm not being negative, but I just can't take you seriously with your Jeff Halloween costume! Nice work on the drums buddy!

  • lol, get lost

  • hey j25k, evry persons they have their own style sometimes people they have similarity to each other . that is his own style thats original. hes not a copycat.

  • Hey

jeslyfirefox... Of course they do, but if you know anything about Jeff Porcaro, you might see what I mean! Anyway... I told the guy that his drumming lacks nothing! But study the way he sits behind the drums and his head-movement and everything. It's Jeff down to the detail. Almost scary!

  • i agree with you j25k. thnx bro. jeff porcaro is somewhat unique on his own.. thnx

  • Hi guys! Thanks for the nice comments. The only secret to stamina at fast tempos is practice, practice & then relax while playing. A sound grip is making things easier of course. Cheers Peter

  • nice man, what Hi hats are those? there so crisp,! cheers.

  • Hey Peter can you tell me where can i get that type of music to play along, you should have my age more less and i love this type of music i just have almost 2 years started playing i would like to have this music to use when i played.

  • cool groove man love the buzz roll staring on the 2's and 4's

  • you know, you could give us a clue...to how you manage to play that beat so long!

  • @dnivie0790 (Without having to listen to the music here) I agree with you...my stamina is fairly limited compared to his here...I would have needed to include more fills just to give my ride hand a break!

  • wow thats great!!!! i love the sound of your kit! 5/5

  • Perfect song to play drums on! Which song is it?

    P.S. Nice groove...!!

  • Drummer plays well. The kit is ok.

    peace.

  • dude, props on holding that 16th not for 8 minutes, that's absurd.

  • I love the stick flip at 3:59!

  • nice i feel like very chill after hearing this...

  • Dude your kick sounds like crap!

  • I think it's a sample, not the actual sound. It's sounds like a bass played backwards.

  • awesome. bass drum sounds like Pillow

  • Bro...that's some seriously tight hat work. Props to you. 5/5

  • cool bravo nice

  • The base drum sounds kinda strange,

as if it was a cushion.

  • That is really nice!

  • Whoah....Good....Very Good indeed!!!!!

  • Perfect!!What's your Hi Hat?

  • EXTRA GOOOOOOOOD!!!

  • Very good!!!

  • Good Track and a good groove, congratulation, you have soul.

  • Awesome. E du svensk?

  • Nice sound

  • Great video. I love Jeff's playing and your adaptation of him. Question for you since I can't ask if of Jeff any longer. How do you get your right hand to be that fast and relaxed on the 16th notes? I tense up as soon as I get anywhere close to 90bpm. 85 is all I can realistically handle. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  • Well I can see there may have been some hours of listening to Steely Dan and Pages apart from the Toto stuff :)

    Keep on playing and composing!

    And call Scaggs, please!!!

  • Hey Pete! Great stuff as usual, but your still a YFC! :)

  • You should call Boz - tell him you're the guy for the "Silk Degrees Revisited Tour"?? There would barely be anyone on the face of the Earth that could lend more JP credibility to time and groove than you my man! Get on the phone now!! Look forward to meeting you at the Brisbane show of your Australian Tour! ;^))

  • Very very good. I would like you to play "Last Night" from the TOTO album "XX". I never had found how the hi-hat pattern on this tune was made. Today I am still amazed how Jeff Porcaro played it!

Keep up the good work, Peter!

  • waooo bro great feeling..awsome..your timming men awsome keep it up..

  • Playing 16's like that with one hand is so fucking hard to keep up consistantly! Great job and lovely playing.

  • An inspiration! - 19yo drummer from Holland

  • Very nice Playing!

  • This is such an excellent video and this man is so good! Sends chills up my spine every time I hear it and I've been playing 43 years. Absolutely superb!!!!

  • Well, I simply have no words to describe what I feel.

This was really great and surprising. You have absolutely captured not only Jeff's groove but also his particular way of dressing every song, and this -as it's been said- J.N.H. & Friends like composition together with your playing absolutely shows it. It's perfectly played, smooth and RELAXED, and there you've got the key. I think you have received the best of Jeff from your lifetime inspiration. Congratulations!

  • this guy is so solid. must have had some great teachers, and obviously the right drummers influenced him. makes you want to go and hit the kit with the Dr. Beat on.

  • Very smooth Good job I wish you would teach me some of those smart grooves 'Nicely Done!'

  • Wow - you are AWESOME!

If I would not see the video I could swear that Jeff would be playing! You keep the legacy alive. I still have little goosebumps, even more, knowing that TOTO has split some days ago and won´t come back again... Sad bad true.

Thanks for your tune , which partially reminds me a little of the James Newton Howards & Friends-CD :-)

Keep on working - I just subscribed.

  • Indeed, very nice playing.

  • You have nice endurance in your right hand and needless to say, your groove is quite perfect. Peace!

  • Very nice score you created! Your work is always inspirational for learning! I still would like to see you re-do Pamela! :D

  • I've said it before, I think Jeff would be honored and slightly embarrassed that he inspired such a talented artist. You're playing is amazing. When does your CD come out? ;)
