Im not as ripped as Vic but what he says has helped for me. i drink alot more water and try to eat better. I do 3 days on 2 days off it gives me time to really rest and lift that muscle just as hard 5 days later and really feel strong. back & bis chest&tris legs&shoulders
vic, i 100% agree with you on the 'giving the body a break' spiel. The guys at work are absolutely amazed at how i get better results and bulk up faster lifting 3 days a week for an hour and a half than going 6 days a week for the same amount of time.
I used to think it was better to do it every other day. However, I have changed my philosophy to twice per week. when you really train hard, you you need time for recovery. The abs are no different than biceps. When they are stressed they need rest.
So the debate ensues about eating. I am delighted to put up any posts that stirs debate. It is good to have a different perspective from everyone. However, when it comes to eating. The debate as I see it is which is more important eating "right" or training. There is a great understanding between men and women that I believe we can all agree, "garbage in - garbage out". This goes for the mind - and the body. It is not a judgmental statement it simply elementary. Love your body- Peace all,Vic
This is 100% the truth in all gyms. I think it's for a few reasons. First, personal trainers who have awesome genetics and train people way too hard for their hormones to keep up. Secondly, supplement companies that push all these products saying you can work out as hard as you want since you have this brand new supplement cause people to work way too hard since the sups their selling do nothing. Finally the biggest reason pro bodybuilders on steroids telling everyone their personal workouts an
The video is very informative. Great advice from Vic. I put all his advice in my head. I do know a link of a site that gives workout plans and exercises to help you gain lean muscles and achieve a lean muscular look you ever wanted. The best thing its all free. Youtube doesn't allow me to post the link but I posted it on my profile. You can always check it there.
your are so right on..man, I stopped for a year and getting back at it and Im hardly taking time off working out - and so - I will give myself that...
Hey Vic, I was wondering, if you were to do your back workout regarding all the pulling movements in this exercise that is ok to also train your arms meaning the bicep to really work them
vic your videos are the best thing ive found in the internet. Ive always been use to doing my 10-8-6-6 sets as hard as i could, but i would get injuries, im going to try this now.
I am amazed by the results I'm getting by following just a few of your tips, especially regarding the bench-press. I had no idea I was doing some many things wrong!
Thank you so much for your dedication! You are truly an inspiration!
hey vic have a question from you experience whats the best time to train during the day, thanksbtw got your dvd book and audios and i love it , body whisperer :) peace brotha
Once heard Franco Colombo saying 4:00p.m. was best- Man wish I would do that. I would actually agree- body is warm, couple meals in you already- probably ideal. Thanks so much for everything. Peace, Vic
Is it okay if I workout for example : Monday , Wednesday and Friday , and sometimes Saturday aswell ? It's like working out a day , then take 1 day break . And on the last day of workout , take 1-2 days of break ?
Of course- but you can't do the same muscle group immed after the other. Meaning you can't do biceps on Monday and then on Wednesday. I would do them on Sat at the earliest.
I workout 5 days a week and than take 1 day (saturday) for cardio and sunday off. Is that okay? also i have been hearing about the overtraining for awhile now, and have cut my workouts down. Is 1 hour a day 5 days a week, 1 hour working out one part of the body is that to much? am i overtraining?
I have changed my workout so that i workout one body part each day for 5 days and take the weekends off like rob231m. After switching to this for about two months, i have seen improvements like i never thought i would get. Thank you for all of these tips
Chill- we are always so worried because it is a particular day to do a certain muscle group. That's what our mind tells us, when our body says something else. Listen to your body- you can't go wrong. Victor
Just abit of the sharing you talk about :) been using your mp3 for a while now, did feel stupid in the start to be honest, but now 9 weeks in, results, well they speak for them selves ;) I do monday, thuesday, thursday, friday workouts, rest wednesday, saturday and sunday, on every lvl I feel better, just wanted to share and thank you at the same time ;)
i agree a 100%-i workout 3 times a week and i gained more size just by training 3 times a week more rest equals bigger muscles-thanks again for the info and best of luck from a friend in ireland.
Fantastic video Vic, I wish I came across this sooner being a chronic overtrainer. You are so right in everyway and I have learnt to take Wednesday and Sunday off with Saturday being a day for yoga (active rest). It feels amazing and you see more gains because of the rest.
I used to overtrain aswell, went to the gym almost every day for 2 months!only took like 3 days break until now,i work 3 days rest a day or two and i actually feel better!
you are so right bro .i had to wache this vid 3 weeks earlier. i was soooo overtrained that i had to take 2 weeks of...;)) thank u for the valuable informations.
Hey Vic, I started playing ball hockey and my body feels really tired. I'm looking alot more ripped but I've gotten weaker at the gym. I like the advice you are giving but in my case I'm afraid I will loose muscle from the cardio and less time in the gym.
@11martin82 Athletes need- rest - food- it is a balance-really hard to get this stuff down- trial and error. You know you need cardio- actually if you get right down to it - it's more important that lifting for health. We generally lift for vanity and health second. We should make it a priority- Health that is. All I can say friend is- play- enjoy- that is about cardio - athleticism, conditioning and using your body for utility. When you do a lot of cardio- lift less aggressively. peace< Vic
steroid users dont need to take time off they are different than us also steroid boys almost never get sore... i take off 5 days and thats when i started growing.
Anyone have any testimonials for me - I'd really appreciate it.
If you have a minute or two to make a video and send it to me -that would be wonderful- if you have made progress - if you want to show off what you got and just stand there and tell the camera how the dvd or mp3's have helped you- I'd really appreciate it- Peace, Vic
You said to do each set as many as we can, but do you increase your weight for the next set. I started doing the pyramid exercise ever since my friend showed it to me. After watching your videos, I started to do my exercise slow and relax. I still do the pyramid exercise though. Do you think I should keep doing what I am doing? Thank you
Of course, this is about mastering a heavier and heavier tool. Master a weight, move up, master another, move up. That's the game. Always challenge yourself. There will always be a transition period. But the goal is to isolate and feel the muscle work. The connection must be made, no matter what the weight. Peace, Vic

I'm not a body builder by any means, but this makes total sense Vic. Variations in every way seem to result in a positive response. Prevent the body from getting into any pattern and it will flourish.
i think this is some great advice and ive experienced it on my own, but i think if i had only listened to my body i would never have been in the gym :D.
i completely agree. i pushed myself so hard weekly and ended up with a pec tear. i feel if i had more rest and listened to my body t would of never happend. thanks for your insight bro!

Some of the best body-building advice I've seen on youtube. The thing he said about going on holiday really is true, I went away for a week after some really hard training and did nothing but eat, when I came back my friends called me mini hulk because I was so stacked and ripped (also because I'm only 5'7'' :-) ).
Great to see you again, good stuff as always! But you have to do your zits at the mirror cause it's much better than a blowout trying to squat 300. lol
Very good video!! The changes people look for in their appearance happen during the time when you're NOT at the gym. The workouts are just the catalyst for the changes

vic, you're the man! this week i got a flu... and i felt like that... "oh no... i'm gonna lose all my muscle for some days off the gym"... turns out i got 2days off and... man, i gotta say, today's work out was GREAT, and i had energy for the rest of the day... it IS actually different... guess i'll even see better results in a long term period...
thank you for all your instructions! like DefJamGamer said, you're also my #1 coach!
Thanks Vic, i really needed to hear this. I think partly it's the addictive nature of the iron "pump" and the love of exertion that tilts me towards over training. I'm actually taking a week off to recuperate, will try out your suggestions!
Hehe... vanity and show-off-ism are cool but... it's bad video making to sacrifice part of your head (esp. when delivering a speech) in order to show more of your body. ;)
resting is the key to staying focus ... i play baseball n if i overworkd i can actually under perform on the field bcuz im hurt i loss flexibility and energy ..... so resting is great ... im 6' 205 i feel great now than a yr ago 185 always working out no rest n baseball all the time ... now i feel stronger n look better .... thanks vic ur videos help not counting reps is a good aproach ,,, keep the videos coming ppl can really benefit from this
vic. thanks for this man. im noticing alot of natural bodybuilders who try and imitate their idols when it comes to routines, reps and sets (volume). i'd say almost 80% in gyms ive come across, overtrain and still dont have an adequate diet

i train quite alot but i DO listen to my body and it sometimes doesn't feel tired etc or any of the symtoms you mentioned... does that mean im alright with my program?
btw i do rowing so if i dont keep that up regularly with the ergo/water sessions etc then times can drop fairly quickly
I bought vics DVD at the start of the year....my god what a difference it has made to me. I immediately took weight off all my exercises and starting to concentrate on form and technique rather than simply how much i could lift. Starting seeing serious result within 1 and half to 2 months.
Do you believe that the concept of overtrain comes from the non natural pros who are photographed (and have magazine articles which states they are) training 24/7, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year?
I do ju jitsu and mma, and I';ve taken whole weeks off and come back to training stronger. Always thought it was a bit weird. But I guess it makes perfect sense.

First of all you look amazing. But I totally agree with you.
My buddy goes to the gym like 5 x a week while I am going 3x with days rest inbetween and the difference is really noticable he's the same weight as I am but his bench is weaker im more ripped etc. People should really look into this.

I'm not a body builder by any means, but this makes total sense Vic. Variations in every way seem to result in a positive response. Prevent the body from getting into any pattern and it will flourish.

Thanks Vic, i really needed to hear this. I think partly it's the addictive nature of the iron "pump" and the love of exertion that tilts me towards over training. I'm actually taking a week off to recuperate, will try out your suggestions!

Hehe... vanity and show-off-ism are cool but... it's bad video making to sacrifice part of your head (esp. when delivering a speech) in order to show more of your body. ;)

vic. thanks for this man. im noticing alot of natural bodybuilders who try and imitate their idols when it comes to routines, reps and sets (volume). i'd say almost 80% in gyms ive come across, overtrain and still dont have an adequate diet

i train quite alot but i DO listen to my body and it sometimes doesn't feel tired etc or any of the symtoms you mentioned... does that mean im alright with my program?
btw i do rowing so if i dont keep that up regularly with the ergo/water sessions etc then times can drop fairly quickly

I bought vics DVD at the start of the year....my god what a difference it has made to me. I immediately took weight off all my exercises and starting to concentrate on form and technique rather than simply how much i could lift. Starting seeing serious result within 1 and half to 2 months.
THANKS VIC, YOUR THE MAN!

Do you believe that the concept of overtrain comes from the non natural pros who are photographed (and have magazine articles which states they are) training 24/7, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year?

First of all you look amazing. But I totally agree with you.
My buddy goes to the gym like 5 x a week while I am going 3x with days rest inbetween and the difference is really noticable he's the same weight as I am but his bench is weaker im more ripped etc. People should really look into this.
Great video vic,
