I agree with the other similar comments about why anyone would take these once majestic, classic buildings and let them fall into disrepair...only to be built into cheap condos.
Blame the a-holes who were running the Town of Danvers at the time - the Town Manager and the Selectmen, and anyone else who gave their permission to let that happen.
sorry just a few more things, it really pisses me off that they would tear it down. They should fucking stop tearing down things that belong in history and leave them up, and maybe renovate them and use them again or as muesms or something. Urg. It was so beautiful and they had to destroy it, of course it went on fire but doesn't mean that they should tear it down while it was still standing urg!
i totally agree with you. in the middle-late 1800's, this building cost the most to build compared to the other ones in the hundreds of thousands. i think it was for a little over a million to build. compared to today and all the equipment, it would be about a billion to build and activate.
What happened to the danvers state video that was all pictures and had two songs on it? The first was hotel callifornia and I dont know what the second bands name was.
I've seen 1 hospital, a school and a rehab around were I live become abandon due to aspestis and they knocked them down and rebuilt somethihng else there.
Those were very beautiful structured buildings, even though knocking them all down is a shame, because they were pretty, you have to realize that alot of times it's cheaper to knock down old buildings and start fresh and build from the ground up then renavate. Renevation can cost thousands to million's more dollers then knocking down and building up, especially if the buildings walls are falling apart, and there's aspestis, dry wall, etc. Some damage is due to vandilazation also.
they didn't tear it down, the place was 313,000 sq ft. the building wasn't doing anything except being old for crazy people. i wouldn't even live in this condos, it looks like they're gonna be haunted.
never been there...seen photos of it on the net and i believe that it was a shame they demolished it..it was a very beautiful hospital with distict architecture..it should been preserved as history of the area.
Great video. It should be a crime to destroy such amazing architecture. I was telling my friend they should have renovated what could be saved and made them into apartments. It would have made the coolest looking apartment building. I'd live there. I agree with you. We never protect, or respect, the past. I don't understand it. We discard the elderly like they mean nothing, when they are our greatest treasure. I don't understand this society we live in. Great video! Well done!
if they wanted condos so bad they should have renovated the building to convert it to condos, then at least it would still be there, even though, it still wouldn't be the same
Sorry must have been another hospital i was thinking of, watched this right through i cant believe they tore it down for condos! what a massive and beautiful biulding! They tear history down here also. Excellent vid by they way.
It's like losing an old freind. I'm actually in tears seeing the place be torn down for cheap condos. Nice going, Avalon! I hope they go bankrupt! If the fire is any indication they do poorly with fire hazards as well as use cheap equipment! LONG LIVE DANVERS! YOU RULED!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not the best part of the past we had to offer, but it was still historic. To do something like that, tear down a piece of history and replace it with CONDOS... It's terrible and upsetting. Watching this video really got to me, it both saddened and angered me. I can't believe such a building wasn't restored or protected due to its age, spared from such an awful fate.
thanks for watching, i cant agree with you more the history and past of Danvers is so full of happy times and also some dark times. it was made to help the ill not just house them and abuse them like most places do. but it became understafed and to full..
thats when stuff started to happen. its such a beautiful building but since stupid kids had to destroy it and break out every window... it became cheaper to just tear it down.. we never protect are past, we just wory about the future... thanks for watching.
Great Video. Nice Job.

yeah i know its crasy, if kids would not have vandalised the building so much, it just might have had a different fate.
