i like how it's nothing but opera-backed renders then cuts to heavy metal gameplay. very nice. never played the originals, though i'll certainly have to at some point (one image i saw reminded me of a Kid Chameleon level, so the whole nostalgia factor is a great incentive. and no, i'm not comparing SH to KC...just to clear that up)

Actually now Splatterhouse was a turbo graphics 16 beat em up, and it was made by namco, just like the new one.. and their were 3 splatterhouse games back then, part 1 was in both the arcades and on the TG 16, and part 2 and 3 was on the sega genesis. ^_^

Alright.. I will set things straight.. I back up EVERYONE who is already saying Splatterhouse is not a God of War ripoff.. Sure, it plays like God of War. But, figure this.. about half of today's gamers are young or are people who don't remember the old arcade games, which is where this game is originating from. Before God of War, before all the 3d games, 2D brawlers like TMNT, Double Dragon, and Splatterhouse were paving the road for games like God of War. w/o those, GoW would be nothing.

When the developers of this game sat down and started work on it, they made a conscious decision to use an existing formula, a formula made famous by God Of War, not because GOW was the first, but because it was the best. Admittedly, I cant really see where else they could have taken the series, a 'Resident Evil' style genre would have failed massively IMO. Im very much looking forward to this!
