i would love to be one of the ones that records this, i play flute and all your stuff that has flute in it would be really cool to play and perform. =]
this was very good, your tone on the instruments is great, I just have two critiques. At the beginning, the flute is too loud, and it distracts from the melody, and at some times, the timing is a bit off. Great work however!
Thank you for your input. These are actually electronic instruments recorded with Finale. The MP3 is not a recording of real live humans. For that reason it is difficult to get the volume balanced. I'm not sure what parts you're referring to with the timing. The overall piece does have a constant "accellerando" so that the end is much more frantic than the beginning lullaby.
I play bassoon and used to play flute and oboe as well. I wanted to record this so badly but I wasn't good enough on any of the instruments back then XD Now I had to send back the oboe and am dreadful on flute...lovely arrangement, though!
Nice, I found this while looking for one thing and one of the apps in you listed in your comment is something else I've been looking for. Thanks Much, nice vid.
ahhhhhh i love it when he plays this !!! it reminds me so much of the music at about 3:20 in the song 'the seventh eclipse' by eternal tears of sorrow.
yea it's nice!!! i love a pure and beautyfull melody without drums and that stuff.. it really makes me think of useful stuff. hehe.. life and such things :D good job dude!!
(this is continued from the previous post - sorry I'm so long-winded) muddy when played by real instruments, though, so it could work great - maybe give it the sense of angst that was there in the movie. Of course, due to the subjective nature of music, I'm sure there's a significant percentage of the population who totally disagree with me :) Overall, good job, I enjoyed it!
I used Music Animation Machine for the animation. It animates notes from MIDI files.
For the mixing of the two themes at the end, I think that is actually how the official sheet music is. Perhaps in the movie one of the themes is much quieter when the two are played at once. I'll have to listen again! But someone else also commented that the end was too busy, so perhaps there is a better way to achieve the "angst"-like feeling :-)
Hmm - I may have to get that program - very cool :)
You're right about the official sheet music, just sounds weird, I guess. Although I think you maybe started it a phrase earlier than they did? I think you're also right about one theme being quieter in the movie. Also I think there's a lot more going on, which could be filling out chords that would make it sound more natural...
What a creative way to visually represent music! Do you have a program to do this, or did you create it yourself?
Musically, I'm not sure that I liked the section of parallel perfect 12ths between the bassoon and oboe - so many notes outside the key made the music seem more abstract than the original theme alluded to. Also, the end seemed a bit much. I liked your second theme by itself, but when combined with the one from the movie, it got to be a bit much. I know things can sound a lot less
the flute you need to nto use so much tongue when you switch from hole note to hole note. I sounds bad. So almost like you are sluring but barely touch your lips.
I appreciate the suggestion, but these are electronic instruments (the flute sound is computerized and is not played by a person). The sheet music is written with slurs.
I really like this arrangement also! it's really cool!! :]]

I agree. Do you have a trio with whom you could play this?
