I don't know what you mean that value comes from gold, because gold really has no value in sustaining civilization, energy on the other hand is the basis for civilization of which oil is the bost critical component. I love how people place so much value on gold yet just don't get it that is takes a 8 gallons of oil to get an ounce of gold from ground to 99.99% purity. more gold does not equal more wealth, wealth comes from bring able to "do work", i.e. use energy.

We assume value from what we can create from something. It didn't start yesterday, it's been used and represented as real value/money for thousands of years.

You won't work for Energy, Oil, etc. but you will work for something you can gain.

Why would you say energy is the basis? Look at the Amish, they live just fine don't they?

Point is, even if you worked for energy, not everyone needs it or can use it. But Gold, they have.

gold has no real value thats true. but we need some sort of money so that we all dont have to hunt for food, make our own clothes and so on. we need a means of exchange. it is useful to use something for money. noone so far has the power of creating gold out of thin air. now bankers that rule countries have the power of creating paper money out of nothing. world is better of with gold money than paper money

yes we need a medium of exchange exchange, all I hope for is that we don't go around looking for nano sized gold particles wasting all the oil, natural gas, coal, trees, forests, rivers, etc with the false assumption that we are creating wealth. In my opinion the ore grades of gold mines have becoming so low that it is not "worth" us mining it anymore, the resources could be put to better use. its not like the good ol' days when you could pan gold from a river to dig it up with a spade.
