  • Aw man! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • the bass by Calvin Samuels in this version is KILLER love it with that guitar intro by Dewey Bunnel also KILLER this is WICKED

  • Love classic rock! The guitars and harmonies are wonderful! No harmonies sung in today's music.

  • @TheGraphitte They are, but you won't find any in the mainstream music currently around! Fleet Foxes are the best example around now! Also Midlake.

  • i love all of their songs. great band

  • He said where's my cigarette ! smoking was very common and acceptable back then, notice the relaxed atmosphere, such a wonderful band I have always enjoyed listening to them, thanks very much for posting this it brings back such wonderful memories!!

  • My hearing's not that great, but is it possible that he's saying "where's my signal at"? Maybe there was a temporary problem, like a shortage with an amp or guitar pickup? I'm probably wrong, but it does seem unlikely that a band member about to start up a live studio set would be trying to "light one up" seconds before the beginning of a song?

  • America, Esp. Bunnell, had the ability to write melodies and hooks (both in song structure and riffs) that made for songs that were immediately catchy and lingered in your mind, despite the lyrics being often obtuse and seeming random.

  • Yeshua, You chose the things that the world considers foolish to confound the wise so that the chalice would remain safe inside the least likely of sinners. In this same fashion it is NOT the well churched & self righteous who hold the key, it is the one the world views as a scumbag who will be admitted to the sacred sanctuary. Worthy is he who thinks on a level entirely apart from all others, apppears selfish, yet would lay down his life to protect another. YHWH it is for him that I now beg.

  • I do love west coast 70' rock sound

  • WOW, I was still in diapers during these recording; however, I remember them fondly. Things seemed so simple back then and in a sense for a child they were. I don't think they were so simple for my parent but they never made it seem otherwise. Major just chill music. Thanks for posting these classic and endearing clips.

  • perfect chemistry. three awesome talented musicians and singers.America!

  • I miss the original piano arpeggio's @ 3:40

  • God I love that guitar solo at the beginning!

  • Nice pick DJ!

  • Great music, horrible guitars. As to why musicans back then felt the need to change from glorious Gibson and Martin to plastic Ovation had to be the result of heavy, heavy drug use.

  • Wow..........the shit.

  • Classic song Poetry in motion by a band that had perfect chemistry in momentum.

  • guess the name of the bassman?

  • Song Great!!!!

  • i loovvvvveeee this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • I used to sing to this way back high school there is a group of musician thought me how it is a wonderful experience i rally loved this song with guitar. :)

    AMERICA rules!!!

  • This was just one of the many great tunes by America. My understanding is that all 3 (Bunnell, Beckley, and Peek) met in England as all three of their fathers were in the military at the time there. As stated, just one of many of their awesome songs. Check out other tunes in this session...Ventura Highway is outstanding!

  • anyone know what kind of guitar Dewey is playing?

  • @nicktorittano turtle back guitar bro

  • @llynajyarnuaj

is that the company or just the type?

  • @nicktorittano type bro.i had it onces when i was at 6th grade.

  • I miss this type of music, where is it nowadays? :{

  • @JohnKillMe - no where to be seen it would seem - all we have now is crap

  • Where are this band from?

  • @banangnang

they got together at an American airbase in England I believe. I may be off on that though

  • good song

  • @XXXNIRVASHXXX ..No..Fucking..GREAT SONG!!

  • anyone that says this is a terrible session is freakin nuts. this song was never played as good as this one was. the guitar riff at the beginning is very nice, northern california sinsimillia music.

  • my foster cousin worked for this group they were awsome

  • Awesome, it makes me alive, wonderful, monstrous performance!

  • I love this version

  • This is the worst session. Howcome so many of the America postings are from this lousy session?

  • @Baritone45 There's no such thing as a "worst session" or "lousy session" with America, all their sessions are great 'cause they're a great band! BTW, who are you to call this a lousy session? Think you can do better, huh? xD

  • @Baritone45 That's your opinion,,,,,,,,,, (*)

  • Where and when was this filmed? God bless.

  • Nice and great.

  • @Ankur1989g i want to say you that this is not "soft rock" this is FOLK ROCK!

  • Aaah I would like smoke a some joint.....I'll get it..

  • Oh what a classic this is. I remember hearing this when I was much younger. Brings back memories of simpler times.

  • Is that a heavy Ozzy with the shaker?

  • @ottlakerambler No. I think that might be Dewey. I could be wrong, but it is not Ozzy.

  • @Jasenspeed401 Haha... I was joking. Thanks for posting this video.

  • @Jasenspeed401 The person with the shaker is Dan Peek, Dewey is the lead singer on this song.

  • The Tin Man always had a heart. That's the beauty of it..

  • hehe Lets rock baby

  • This is what we called MUSIC..Real music!

  • @edmarmadelskie what are you alking about? "called" we still call this reall music

  • Listen to the music it dont matter if your black or white or what colour a band member on the day the recorded this video. Its a nice classic forget who is geting a close up and enjoy the music if you dont like what you hear and see find something you like. peace

  • When I was a kid I thought this was sung by Neil Young it sounds like him a bit..

  • just like the chords of Waiting in Vain on some verse part

  • another classic soul rock group love their sound and style real music will always sound as good as it did when u first heard it thank you for sharing ur greatness

  • sso easy and relaxed, great era

  • adorooooooooooooooo

  • "Where's my cigarette?"

  • Me encantaaa :D

  • True....there are no closeups of the African-American bass player, but he kept them together with that 'pounding bass' beat.....it's the BEAT folks!

  • @mmoneysell2 maybe because he wasn't actually in the band but a session guy who was nonetheless probably paid pretty well for the gig, just like the drummer. stop looking for something that isn't there.

  • @Putaspellonyou

The argument is that of closeup shots of the African-American bass player.....not about how much money he was paid.....or being a member of the band. Did you ever see them live in concert.....maybe not , because you are blind and can't see what was partially omitted in the video. That is the question!

  • @mmoneysell2 calvin samuels was a very well-respected and highly sought after bass player. but as he was not a member of america, why would you expect closeups of him? and if i had seen them in concert at the time i would have certainly been focused on the guys who wrote and sang the songs and probably not paying so much attention to the rhythm section. does that make me racist? no. it is merely circumstantial that samuels was black.

  • @Putaspellonyou

If he was a "very well-respected and highly sought after bass player", why not a closeup shot of him and the drummer. It's about highlighting contributions that great artists have made regardless of their skin color, unless you don't believe that. One must pay attention to the whole by increasing their peripheral vision.

  • @mmoneysell2 thank you for conceeding my point, aristotle. so you are just upset they didn't give more shots of the guys NOT in the band, regardless of skin color, instead of the guys who actually wrote and sang the song to begin with? if the white drummer wasn't show as much either, it kind of make your racism claim moot, does it not? if this were a video of the mamas and papas would you be equally pissed they didn't show more of drummer eddie ho? or would that be another example of racism?

  • There are no closeups of the African-American bass player.....but he keep them together with that 'pounding beat'......folks, it's the beat!

  • i remember the first america song i heard was sand man when i was 5 years old. Now im fifteen and get high listening to america everyday!!man i wish my generation could make some decent music....

  • Never fails to make me smile - quality from start to finish - get in!

  • interesting how there are no close ups of the black bas player!!!?!

  • @viagro1980 because he's a homo

  • @turonnie i'd say because the producer of the video is a fucking racist piece of shit.

  • When I was 10 I Loved this band and I still Love this band. I Love Dewey's singing. This band is famous accross Asia. They still sing all of America's songs there. Dewey is so cool and Gerry ofcourse is super cool. I'll miss Dan Peek.

  • lindona amo essa musica!!!

    very nice

  • lindona amo essa musica!!!

  • we got the gift of gab!

  • I'm only 15 and I like this song. There are some youngins who like the older music, I'm all about it.

  • @setorero I'm only 13 and i like pie. (i'm being serious)

  • @setorero Welcome aboard! We have much music treasure for you! Seriously, just take every song you hear, case by case. I'm 55 and still discovering music made back in the 60's and 70's. We didn't have YouTube back then so I'm still trying to catch-up on a lot that I missed. Couldn't afford to buy it all, so if you didn't hear it on the radio, you might not ever know it existed. There was so much great music back then. That's why it is often referred to as the "Singer-SongWriter" era.

  • When had that concert be? It is a very long time ago. Is it possible buying this as a video? Nice video!! :-)

  • .............. luv this

  • feel good music, love it

  • fantastic although I feel like tuning that bass just a bit.

  • They aren't quite locking in here.

  • may you rest in peace Dan,your music will live on forever
