Crosby was a suckish player back then. He's improved where he can actually score the same ammount Ovechkin's been scoring ever since Ovi went to the NHL.

as a sharks fan here is my opinion.. ovechkin is probably the better indivdual player, he is obviously a better goal scorer, has the best shot in the league and is physically bigger which counts for alot he hits hard and is hard to get off the puck, HOWEVER crosby has the rare ability to compliment players around him. when he is on the ice everyone does better. he is unbeliveable at setting up plays, and will probably be around longer.. i would choose ovi but thats just me :P

this a great video. the person who put it together did a great job. it's hard to compete with ovechkin on youtube because he is a one man highlight reel, but one aspect of the game which is very difficult to convey is the ability to get teammates involved. some of crosby's best plays are plays where he does not score the goal, but that doesn't usually make the highlight reels. both are great players, but crosby is a better overall and someone to base a team around.

I'm a Detriot Fan, Grew up in Michigan. Richards is a great 2 way player. I love his physicality. But I believe defense is more than just physicality it's a mix of technical defense and creative thinking.

I would be very intrigued to see some defensive highlights from Crosby. And besides, Crosby, as a centreman, has more responsibility on defense than ovechkin, as a winger. Boudreau wants Ovechkin to hang near the bluelines and stay vigilant for a breakaway or odd man rush for extra scoring opportunities. I've watched plenty of Caps games, and plenty of Penguins games.

Personally, I enjoy watching Ovy much much more than Crosby because he's so dynamic and makes some flashy plays. That doesn't always translate into a goal, but when it does, it's amazing.

Crosby was struggling with his ankle injury this season even though he got a year ago it still probably nags him a bit and he still finished with a 100+ point season and Ovechkin has 7 more points but took probably like 200 and something shots more than Sid so overall Sid is better

How are they overrated? Both have been in the top five (at least) for point producers for the majority of their careers, and I only see them getting better. I think you are only saying this so that you can have a unique opinion, since everyone knows that these two players are great. this a great video. the person who put it together did a great job. it's hard to compete with ovechkin on youtube because he is a one man highlight reel, but one aspect of the game which is very difficult to convey is the ability to get teammates involved. some of crosby's best plays are plays where he does not score the goal, but that doesn't usually make the highlight reels. both are great players, but crosby is a better overall and someone to base a team around.

I would be very intrigued to see some defensive highlights from Crosby. And besides, Crosby, as a centreman, has more responsibility on defense than ovechkin, as a winger. Boudreau wants Ovechkin to hang near the bluelines and stay vigilant for a breakaway or odd man rush for extra scoring opportunities. I've watched plenty of Caps games, and plenty of Penguins games.

Where are people coming to this conclusion that Ovechkin doesn't play defense? He's always top 10 in hits, always has a respectable+/- rating, and he's actually a good back-checker. They always rag on him for shooting too much? Ovechkin is clearly the better player and works better when the other team is throwing everyone at him trying to shut him down (which means a LOT). But sidney works better with a team and is more marketable. Also, with all of ovechkins hitting I feel like he will not have as long of a career..

At the end of the day, no one in the right mind can argue that they're both not superb players.
Personally, I enjoy watching Ovy much much more than Crosby because he's so dynamic and makes some flashy plays. That doesn't always translate into a goal, but when it does, it's amazing.
Crosby, even when he scores, it's usally...USUALLY, not too spectacular. He's got good vision though.

Crosby was struggling with his ankle injury this season even though he got a year ago it still probably nags him a bit and he still finished with a 100+ point season and Ovechkin has 7 more points but took probably like 200 and something shots more than Sid so overall Sid is better

How are they overrated? Both have been in the top five (at least) for point producers for the majority of their careers, and I only see them getting better. I think you are only saying this so that you can have a unique opinion, since everyone knows that these two players are great. I just can't see how you can call the two players that were ranked second and third in points this season overrated. Explain why you feel that they aren't as good as everyone thinks they are.
