The GBA slot didn't contribute to the weight. Think about it logically, the slot was a hollow point on the DS Lite, meaning it would add weight to get rid of the slot.

The DSi processor is double the speed of the DS lite for some reason. Phantasy Star and especially Dragon Quest IX have had serious lagging problems on a DS/DS lite, while on the DSi series there's no lag at all.

Ive had my ds lite for almost 3 years now. And my brother got one of the first original nintendo ds last month at a garage sale. The fun thing is the pictochat and sometimes the download play games,but more the pictochat. The DSi has a camera, a tiny bit more larger size screen,a sound editing thing,music player,WPA Wi-Fi,and you can add extra games on it. And on pictochat when u send somethin from a dsi to a ds lite or ds it makes a different sound. So really,its all about the extra features.
