I'm currently in the HG. The amazing thing about the guys and gals here is there is no complete specialization. The other hg's have separate marching, funeral, drill elements etc... We are still trained in everything. This allows the HG to support multiple away and home funerals, MDW ceremonies, and drill performances, with only 60 non-rates, all at the same time. Its tough work sometimes but you get to see some awesome stuff. Oh, and the chief in the vid was more tough than he appears :)
I love it the honor guard has taught me so much and has given the chance to do things i will never be able to do again. And member "evaluate2" sounds like yall had it rough in '72 things are not as soft as the video makes it though. Not much has changed except the skill level :)
Wow! Kind of warm and fuzzy...a lot different than my one year stint in '72. Billeted in Alexandria Radio Station - it was built back during WWII and insulation was actually newspaper.
Induction ceremony lasted 48hrs - what a friggin nightmare that was - cross between "trial by fire" and "Animal House".
We pulled 4-5 ceremonies a day at times - that's 6 pairs of whites prepped everynight gentlemen! By the way, there was only 1 washer & 1 dryer for the 16 man team!
got a lil hesitant talking about females HUH! lolz

At 4:20, that member on the right slightly move his head to the left to while carrying arms. NOT GOOD AT ALL! Rookie mistake!

Yes it is, you usually get it after Boot Camp. Takes a lot of discipline and training.
