  • why is the skipper talking foreign i thought all ATC transmissions were supposed to be in english by law, can anyone confirm this?

  • Isn't English supposed to be the standard language in aviation?

  • Thank you very much.

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH. I'm just a 16 years old belgian student.

  • "Je te rapelle au travers d'Anterre au 410. Merci beaucoup".

"I'll call you over pass Anterre at flight level 410

  • What I heard was "au travers d'Anterre a 410". Probably an instruction to cross somewhere at FL410. Please can someone tell me if thats what he said?

  • sign the petition on my video page! save brussels airport!

  • nice, real nice...i totally love airbus's system and smooth autopilot philosophy...Does anybody think the airbus sidestick controllers are better than boeings yoke and if you do...why? Im still trying to figure out with type of controller is better.

  • One of the advantages is that you have more room for the digital screens.

  • Also, sidesticks will keep your other hand free from holding the yoke like on Boeing. (Well, you could hould it with one hand but the sidestick is just "one")

  • That pilot looks cool, he's belgian, but it seems he pilots a tourism aircraft.I'm sure it is not a A330 cockpit and pilot. Go and compare with SN Brussels airlines african routes 1 to 10.

  • I can tell you it is a Belgian pilot and it is an A330 of (SN)Brussels Airlines. This film was shot by myself as a First Officer on this flight. The Captain is ex-Sabena and is still flying for Brussels Airlines. The hat is worn by many pilots (it's not a part of the official uniform) to protect the eyes for the low sun.

  • So, how do you get a pass to the cockpit whilst in flight?

Did you have to ask before take off?

What airline is this, flying A330s in Africa and where is it enroute to?

West Africa and around Central Africa- French is extensively used

  • I didn't ask to pass to the cockpit while flying. I did the flight myself as first officer ;-) . SN Brussels Airlines (now named Brussels Airlines) is a Belgian airline which started after the bankruptcy of SABENA. They fly all around Europe with Avro/Bae-146 and A319/737 and to Africa (West, East and Central) with the A330.

  • erm.. shouldn't yous be taking in English to the ATC, by aviation law, i believe.

  • French is also one of the official aviation languages. Over Africa it's sometimes better to speak French to some controllers to get more done.

  • Ok :)

  • Err...
