@invictorium he probably uses two different outputs, one clean and one with a fast and short delay, he might use something like a reverse reverb ore something, I dont't know.

whats the point of doing this as a solo performance? it sounds great, but if your by yourself, might as well choose something different rather than rely on a recording
@buell41 "Electric Counterpoint" is in "Steve Reich Phases-A nonesuch retrospective",a five cd' collection. Pat metheny plays that in cd number 3 (there are 3 parts: Fast/Slow/Fast during 14"43'. Year 1987
@wardadams yeah idk...what the hells the rest of the noise then? i think he's playing along with a recording. it's def has other instruments in the waves. whatev who cares. i wish there was more original Reich up.
@wardadams No, it's a taped backing. It's scored for eleven guitars and two basses, but can also be played by one guitar with a recorded backing (as here).
its a minimalist technique. He has prerecorded loops all playing together at slightly different speeds, so that they gradually get out of time with each other and give the sense of being hypnotic. Its called phase shifting :) x
Reminds me of the lumiloops from Electroplankton. Man this is relaxing.

well the point is that Reich composed Electric Conterpoint for one guitar soloist plus tape (and on the tape is 9 guitar parts + 2 electric basses)
The first who played that piece was Pat Metheny.
Is recording is not really good because we hear to much the soloist (he must really blend in the tape)

This piece isn't a phase piece. Drumming was the last of the phase pieces.
