was privelaged enough to witness this beast screaming along the long straights at Adelaide from 1989 till 1995 (the v12 era). Spine tingling scream yet wonderfully smooth...almost a purr. RIP....
@TheGel73 Thats probably the best F1 sound of all times, at least it's my favourite and I wish V12 come back in F1 some day.
BUT... there's a BUT, from 1954 to 1986 there were more F1 cars with V8 engines than with V12's, so if we talk about engines, and I'm going to say it twice, if we talk about engines, the "current sport" it's more loyal to the old one than 90's F1!

@tramwayz the V is the shape the cylinders form. the number is how many cylinders the car has (V8's are 8 cylinder cars that are in the shape of a V)

@shafoz First of all, when we talk about engines, you need to understand that none else had
to protect their engine legacy like Ferrari had to, so V12' was the only option.
Thinking as a mechanic, V8 & V6's makes more sense to use.
But thinking as a fan of the sport, nothing beats a V12 down-shifting and
gearing up.
You're right on spot with your saying, though.
