Don't compare them. They are two different types of Progressive Metal. Opeth is more "metal" metal and has a heavier element to it. Dream Theater is more technical and classical.

Kevin LaBrie is the true voice of DT, in both good and bad ways, he´s always the voice DT.

I love he´s singing and he´s known as one of the best singers in rock, but he sometimes sounds awful live, he gets tired and out of breath. Plus DT shows are always 3 hours long and to sing higt notes avery day on tour takes its toll... RESPECT JAMES!!!

They are great musicians, but after becoming an Opeth fan, I can't go back to listening to Dream Theater again, they just don't do it for me anymore. Anyway Akerfeldt's clean voice sounds weak and without energy compared to his Harsh Growls. Labrie has a far stronger range as far as clean vocals go IMO.
