  • i wish you were here so i can thank you for my freedom .. god bless you r.i.p. ..

  • I like seeing veterans I can respect.... Just about all veterans under the age of 70 are losers.... The older MEN and WOMEN deserve respect....

  • @TheZappersdoopable why are veterans under 70 losers? You must be about 15 years old... and if you arent I wouldnt say any different.

  • @vetitoe362 Go work at a VA hospital and you will see why I call the veterans under 70 losers... They are only there to get a higher percentage on their disability... They are just there to fuck the VA out of travel pay... They are drunks and drug addicts... They get into programs only to avoid living on the street... So yes loser... Most veterans under 70 are losers.... I doubt a 15 year old would know these things...

  • @TheZappersdoopable It doesn't matter what kind of a person they are, the fact that they fought - possible got wounded, possibly DIED for our country already makes them far more respectable and worthwhile than YOU. You sound like a 12 year old for saying that, you say our military these days are losers? You do their job. Please, pick up and m16, a helmet and go stand in front of a pissed off Afghani shooting in your direction.

  • @TheZappersdoopable that is because the last war the US should have fought in was WW2

the more corrupt and evil the war, the more corrupt and evil and screwed up the soldiers are

  • @TheZappersdoopable veterans under the age of 70 are losers? Are you kidding me? Get the fuck out of the USA you douchebag, the men and women in our military today are the same people that served in WW2, WW1 and the civil war. Are YOU in the military? What have YOU done for the country?

  • god bless you, youre looking good to be 94

  • I love listening to all the old war stories these old timers have. I used to work for an old marine who fought at Iowa Jima, he really told me all kinds of crazy stories. I also know a guy who was in the navy during the Hiroshima bombings in Nagasaki. It's really mesmerizing stuff. I could listen for days.

  • God bless you for your support to our country

  • I agree(oder sollte ich eher sagen;Ich übereinstimme mit dir!).That there are some bigoted idiots that still believe that germans today are automatically evil and nazis...I have lived in Munich my entire life, and can only say that the germans are (in general of course)mercantile, judicious and tolerant people.

  • hahahaha good story, I like this guy

  • i agree. soldiers are innocent.

  • dont think of the germans as heartles killing machines, not every one was a hitler youth,my father was born in germany in 1944 two months and five days before D day, his father fought in stalingrad, he got shot in the head and lived, he is as much a hero as the man in this video, or any veteran of any nation, so i ask you to respect your enamy as much as your freind cause he going through the same stuff as you.

  • I hate how people put german people to be nasty... propaganda can take us all over even americans who think there superior... both sides lost and loved... no need to hate germany.

    PRussian Pride

    Tom

  • Anyone in WWII is great

  • my great uncle.Cpl. Eugene Stiles fough from 1940-1945 to germany.he was a combat engineer with the big red one unit.he lost both of his best freinds in the battle of the bulge while building a bridge killed by nazi sniper. they bult bridges. a stuka did a strafing run on the bridges thus destroying them.i love him i miss him and sadly this was the only story i could get.I just hope he's looking down upon us saluting .if i could only have 5 more hours with him.if only i could.

  • No Words or Medals can tell what these People did! These are Heros! Real Heros!!!! I am a 36 y old German. My Stepdad was an US Army Soldier. I was living in the US 2 Years. I teached myself THE Hystory. If i had the Power... All u Veterans would not be Veterans.... I cant tell how much i thank and love you guys for what u did for us!!!! is there a Veteran Chat i could visit? please let me know!

  • Hello there!! My grandfather was stationed at Pearl Harbor too!! His name was Eugene Valentine Schmidt, and he was an Ensign. I was wondering what he did because I have no clue, and he was stationed at Waikiki. He was in all the Utility Squadrons and was promoted to a Lt. I was wondering if you knew what ( Hops ) meant during WW2 and what did Utility Squadrons do, and or go. I really liked your video, brings back memories of my grandpa. I have over 2,000 letters he written during 1942-1944.

  • *salut*God praise him and the fellow men/women in combat today and in the past may the men and women who have died rest in heaven with god.

  • he has a great memory for soem one his age. my dad is 56 or 57 and has a bad memory. I love les and i miss him soo mcuh

  • If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier! We owe these guys so much.

  • He sure was a handsome man! A fantastic memory too.

  • good stuff. good stories

  • dont worry i havent been happy since 1942

  • Now, I can speak as an Italian American when i say we came to this country, we were mistreated, and had to work hard to make a living. The new minorities think that they deserver special treatment and they should work like they immagrents of the U.S.

  • its in alle countries that most of them think they need a special treatment, they come hear with the idea of getting everything while not doing antyhting for it, wich offly happens in here.....

  • Amran, One, Its people like you who makes our country weaker and weaker. You think that everyone that not white can do no wrong. Everyone is equal and everyone can make mistakes.

  • 你吮sabadashi

  • you are a great man and i respect everything you did and went through to keep us safe.

  • hes a good man

  • Thank you.

  • God Bless you sir.

  • You all are racists who hate the Japanese.

  • Errrm yeah!! We all hate the Japanese lol!...Dumbass

  • you are a faggot

  • have some respect for the country's war heros, asshole

  • I wasnt talking about the veteran asshole, I was responding to someone else.

  • ill never forget you les r.i.p

  • Thank you sir. And God bless you.

  • thanks for fighting for my freedom my grandpal rev. howard tate also was in WW2 he past away last year and i realy miss him , thanks for posting i realy like to hear the old war stories.

  • personally since i'm from south america my family never really experienced WWII first hand but i'm glad to hear heroes like u tell ur stories

  • Hello, I'm german, now living in the US - thank you very much for the peace and freedom you and your generation has given to us! All of the best!

  • thank you very much sir, for protecting our county, God bless you.

  • You're right dewsman, thankfully tens of thousands of people died so you could live. One life at the price of over a hundred thousand. It's beautiful what people say these days.

  • you fucking japs near starved my pop to death in changi....grudge forever

  • I see you're from Australia, so maybe you know better than I because of geographic proximity since I'm a New Englander (North America, not Australia), but I really don't think that any Japanese people today believe in what was going on in their country then. Even if some do, to blame an entire race for what members of their government and military were doing about sixty years ago doesn't really make sense.

  • i believe its in the japanese culture so unless the whole japanese culture has changed in the last 60 years, the japs are the same race, and therefore the same old nips that imprisoned my pop for 3 and a half years during ww2,thank god the yanks dropped the bomb or i wouldnt be here right now

  • Dear Ginger, My prayers and thoughts are with you. God Bless you for keeping with us youtubers. We are his buddies and I'm sure he would be so happy if you too would join us now in his place. God Bless you.

You know that man had a heart of gold and shared with us and made us wiser by just being himself. Come on get on and share some funny times you had with him. PandoraDam xoxo God Bless you

  • Thank you Col. Loken. I can't imagine what it must be like to talk about these things. My grandfather wasn't in the war the way you were....but he worked in the shipyards near los angeles. He taught me a lot about your generation, and i'm really proud of him. thank you for doing this.

  • Very interesting.. What happened then still affects us all now some 60 odd years after.. it changed the world, but sadly people never seem to learn from history.. My father served in the Swedish Army during WWII, for a period up in the north facing the Norwegian border.. always fearful the Germans would come.. He is now 87 but sadly not very well..

  • my great uncle was in japan during world war 2. he had it bad. he spent a bunch of nights in a foxhole while there were bullets flying above his head. luckily, he was offered an office job and that got him out of danger.

  • I was born in 1937 and was only 8 when the war was over, but my brother was a medic in the Navy. He wa sonly about 17 years old! But I have very vivid memories of that war as if it were yesterday! It was fought by the "greatest" generation and I have studied that era in college & beyond! I am so looking forward to seeing all of your videos ! Thank you for sharing this!

  • my grandfather was 18 when he fought, and hes 81 now and alive and well!

  • I miss my grandfather, WWII pilot! He died several years ago of Parkinson's I wished he could have talked so well in his later years. I would have loved to hear his stories! Merry Christmas and God bless!

  • It's nice to hear old ppl talking of war...

But it would be better, if there would be a video of what happening and his voice in background.

  • I very enjoy this Mr Loken. I too have a grandfather and great uncle that were in the military. Though they don't talk much about it, this is really helpful. I love history on World War I-II and this is like a goldmine. Not often you get to hear it straight from someone that was there. :)

  • wow. i have always been amazed by WW2 Veterans. sadly, not everyone of my generation thinks that way...

  • Thank you so much.

    You're a blessing.

    Please take care.

  • Thanks for all your videos. I teach U.S. History and I am going to show this to my classes. Primary sources are hard to come by and they will appreciate your stories. Thanks again.

  • I want my grandparents and parents to do this!

  • my granddad, raraly talked about it to me. But he told me that when he was in line to get his uniform (brittish of course) he was in the line to go to africa. When he saw another go for green kit he realised that they were heading to Germany so he jumped to that cue. Afetr D-Day my granddad ended up riding bikes back and forth for Monty. Thank you for sharing these videos and yes its a same that kids and teens these days dont show the respect.

  • Did you mean to write that to me, cuz i didnt say anything about kids not showing respect? Oh well great info just the same.

  • what a sweet man, he reminds me of my grandfather

  • WOW....You are a great man, I always get a sense that people of your generation were of a different cailber. It is a shame that i had to grow up in the "where's mine" generation, when men like you went through all these hardships for my generation just to become selfish and unappreciative. You are an inspiration to many and should be a required speaker on all college campuses to set us youth straight and teach us to love our country instead of denounce it!

    A big fan, steve

  • Mr. Loken, I just want to say God bless you as you are one of the bravest people in the world. It is because of people like you that our nation today is as good as it is. There is no possible way anyone can express their gratitude towards you and the other men who fought in the great war but sir, you will be forever in our hearts and you will always be a hero to our world, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

  • amazing story! thanks for posting this!

    Amazingly stupid guy above..

  • oh my gosh . . . he has greeat memory and is amazing.

  • you dont forget things like war.

  • Thank you so much. This is such a good opportunity to hear history straight from the real people who lived it!

    May God Bless you, Sir!

  • This is amazing. I'm SO glad he's sharing this. What a great way to preserve it.

  • Older people should be envied not pitied. Their youth was spent in a simpler world with less people.

  • I'll buy that!

  • Thank you so much for sharing.

    Loken? Norwegian ancestry?

    Marianne in Switzerland

  • you are an inspiration. thank you.

  • It's really good to see people being so respectful. That's the way it should be.

    I salute you as well.

  • thank you so much for posting this. Les you and your experiences are treasures that must be preserved to remind everyone what you have been through and done for us all - by putting your story on here, you have immortalised it for some of us - I'm not a religious man, but God bless you.

  • Thank you sir and God Bless.

  • you are so sweet. i ejoyed listening to your story..hopefully more to come.

  • W000T!! You rock Mister!!

  • Happy Belated Veteran's Day and thank you.

  • these are amazing. Thanks for sharing. You will always be remebered for your service and dedication to your country.

  • Wow, this is just amazing. Thank you so much for posting this. I got chills from listeing to it. Everyone should see these videos to learn about our past.

  • So important for the young Knucklehead internet generation who think they're actually LIVING LIFE. 3 thumbs up.... oh, I only have 2.... damn!

  • Thank you and bless you for sharing. Many thanks for your service to our country. I also wish to have had stories like yours from my grandfathers who served. This is what YOU TUBE should be all about!

  • thank you for sharing your stories.

    i think it's safe to say you're amazing &

im so thankful there's people like you out there.

    live strong, you're absolutely amazing.

  • Hello Sir ! My parents who adopted me at three days old, were both around during that time, Dad just died this past Jan. but was a Marine in WWII. I wish they both could have lived long enough to tell their stories on YouTube, although I do remember them, this venue lets everyone see/hear each individuals story. Thank You for telling yours.. I'll be sure to watch each and every one.

  • thank you sir, it is great!

  • Thank you for sharing this story. It was a joy to listen to.

  • Minutes silence for armistice....

  • A happy Veterans Day to you,Sir.

  • Thank you for sharing your memories. You are terrific!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us. My Dad is also a WWII veteran. There is nothing like hearing these stories firsthand.

    Happy Veterans Day

  • Thank you. You are so inspireing.
