  • Gamer TMK.

  • Very true the developers responsible for the conversion of the SNES version of MK2 really did get everything right. Before this game I would play on arcade machines and then go home and play a home port of the same game and always notice how the arcade version looks and sounds so much better. In the case of MK2 on the SNES when I would get home and play that version after playing the arcade version for once it didnt look or sound too much different.

  • @Blitzwing989 No it is a SNES...its the PAL version...i have one the same :D

  • comon play fair

  • I thought you bought the game on day 1??? That's what you said on your other vid.on the vid that's titled How you got started with mk series.

  • i ordered mk II of amazon.com and i got the one where its new in the box

  • thats not SNES thats Super Famicom

  • I love how everyone keeps saying 32x is better, who fucking gives a shit! It's the same fucking game. Get the fuck over it. Jesus fucking christ people.

  • I used to have this on the Snes too. It's the best port of MK2 and the best MK game port on the Snes. Likewise I too would give it 10/10 despite the fact that you couldn't pause the game.

  • This is the best review you've ever done!

  • 3:15

  • you should do these again on a better t.v. maybe a mash up in one vid.

  • @l8erh8er420 That TV is HD 1920x1200! :P

  • @TotalMK no way dude, thats definitely flawlesslol

  • @l8erh8er420 actually old consoles are best played on an older tv with scanlines, LCDs also tend to stretch the picture when scaling it plus lcds are blocky looking due to it being make up of pixels which is good for high res HD gaming like xbox360 or PS3 but not for older consoles which have less pixels

RGB Scart is the best you can get for these older consoles but its not common in NTSC regions

  • @KieranD212 i haven't played the old games on a HD tv so i would have to take your word for it there. i have played them on newer tv's that were not HD an they did fine.

  • wtf?! 1 HIT KILLS?! just goes 2 show how FUCKING HARD THIS GAME IS... FUCKKK!!! >:O

  • You should put ads on your vids that way you can get yourself an HDTV.

  • MK2 is probably still my favorite MK game, to date. My only gripe with the game is that it is probably overly difficult, especially to beginning MK players. The difficulty levels don't really change much either. So if you haven't gotten good at MK, this is not the one to start out on.

  • how many megs was this

  • I remember when this port of MK2 came out for the SNES. I first played it at Service Merchandise when it was around back then, man it was amazing. I miss those days:(

  • How can the lamest port of MK1 make the best MK2 port

  • @jake38989 I know right!!! When I got this game on the Sega i was like ok this isnt bad, then i played it on the snes a few days later at my friends and i was like wtf!!! This game is awesome!!!

  • Can I ask you something TMK? As a big fan of yours, of course, I have this doubt... do you posses the MK games on the Sega Saturn and the XBox? Cuz I never seen a review of those games :(

    C Ya TMK!

  • which is better

32x vs snes version of mk2?

  • Got the US version of this game for like $1 (USD) some weeks ago. The label were torn a bit, that's why I got it very cheap. Haven't gotten around to play it yet, but after watching this video, I will definetively play it when I get time!

  • mann i did not know anything about the tournament mode i just tried it on my snes emulator and it worked thanks for the tip mann

  • kool vid

  • u would do ANYTHING? 0:45

  • The Japanese version of MK II on SNES was censored. Green blood and the screen goes black and white for the gruesome fatalities. lol Did you see vids of that, TMK?

  • I like how your head moves along with Kintaro's stomping in the beginning.

  • i have a question about the stage fatality, i have no problems doing the stage fatality but in the acid stage i cant pull it off. is there a problem with the game or what? pls answer

  • @latintiger There's nothing at all wrong with the game. The Dead Pool has the same stage fatality combination for all the characters, their regular ones won't work. I forget the combination, so, you'll have to look it up. :D

  • @sonicboommaxed97 oh thx i figured it out you have to hold LP and LK then uppercut for all characters

  • $120 austrialian dollars holy fuck

  • Finish Him!!

oh no its round 1... lmao

  • Man i never knew this version had four vs four , f**k !! even though i have not touched this for like over a decade . Anyway just purchased a snes console with 2 controllers . Endurance is something i loves and first discovered with mkt on n64 and i loved it ... ! but unfortunately the psx version was my fav version , pity it only had a 2vs 2 , tell me something TMK , why hasnt mk had this mode on each of its games ??? everyone loves it for 2 player mk sessions !! mk9 best have at least a 3 v 3

  • mk2, in my opinion, is the hardest mk game ever

  • @HUNK091 I AGREE WITH YOU I ACTUALLY JUST GOT DONE PLAYING IT NOW..CALL ME KRAZY BUT I EVEN BUT IT ON EZ MODE AND IT SEEMED SO MUCH FUCKING HARDER !

  • @STUMPYBOY1 well ok thx for the info bro ithink i m gfonna check emuparadise out

  • @HUNK091 especially Shao kahn and kintaro ridicously hard to beat.

  • the only problem that i have with MK2 is that its practically impossible to hit people with the spear and freeze moves :P

  • You know the Mortal Kombat 2 that came built into Shaolin Monks? Was that an exact replica of the arcade version?

  • i want this my bro had snes i was only about 2 in 1995 and he said he hired this game never bought it but he got umk3 and mk1 i tried to buy mk 2 today but it was 120 still lol kept its value

  • Man i miss this i got the snes right in my room but my only lovely mk2 is broken!!!!!!!!!!!!! do u know whta i can do to save a snes game. any tricks? please i want the original mk2 feeling back!!!!!! emulators arent the same at all.

  • FINISH HIM

    oh no, it's round one.

    rofl

  • wat u mean by "perfect version at the time"

  • Which is better... SNES MK2 or SNES UMK3?

  • FINISH HIM.....oh round one. lmfao that was great

  • I still love playing this with my buddies on an original SNES.. such a superb version.

  • i think this game is so damm hard even on very easy

  • i need this game!!!

its weird i have the gb version but not the snes or mega drive version

    thats screwed up!

  • this one really made up for the pile of bird shit MK 1 on SNES 'cause 4 on 4 is so rewarding.

  • i love mortal combat your the best

  • I agree with you on this review, MK2 on SNES is one of the greatest home console ports of any Mortal Kombat game in history, it's probably my favorite console port of MK.

  • DUDE!!!

It's one of the best arcade to home ports PERIOD:p

  • You Cheating Bastard haha jk

  • my complaints on this version would be the fact you can't pause the game and kintaro fighting like a bitch.

  • You can pause it on the battle plan, but you're right, you can't pause it in combat

  • other than the gameboy and arcade this is like the best version of MK2

  • Gameboy? Are you kidding?

BTW, the PC version of MK2 that is superior to the SNES version and much closer to the arcade (graphics and gameplay-wise; the music is inferior instead).

  • and no im not kidding mortal kombat 2 on the gameboy was a good port it was close to the snes version now MK1 and MK3 are just complete crap for the gameboy

  • i can use scorpion,raiden,cage,sub zero

  • 1:33 Kintaros pissed @ acclaim for MK I snes

  • now thats 1 tiny tv

  • a glich the upprecap sub-zero fataliti

thre are onli rocks and win is ses fataliti

the blood is not an the floore and dosen say sub-zero wins

  • whats the code?

  • your SNES is so much nicer than the American SNES

  • Ya I know we get the crappy grey ones with the purple sliders for buttons.

  • man this is most favorite reviewer

  • SNES Glitch (Only on the Dead Pool (Acid Stage)

Do the freezing part of Sub-Zero's Freeze UpperCut fatality, then do the Acid Pool uppercut (Hold LP,LK,HK,Block, then HP uppercut). Your opponent will be frozen but flying in the air and screaming, until they fall into the acid.

  • Which version is easier for MKII, the SNES (without cheats), or the MegaDrive/Genesis (without cheats)?

  • 1 quik question Wich MK is better Mortal Kombat 1 Or Mortal Kombat 2 because i just bought Mortal Kombat 2 on ebay instead of number 1

  • Depends on the system; MK1 is best on sega; MK2 is best on SNES. What system is it for?

  • Mine is for the SNES

  • you're not missing anything in mk 1

  • I agree, I really love MK2 on SNES!!!

  • I have a question: is this version of MK2 as cheap and annoying as Midway Arcade Treasures version or no?

  • When I played the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 on Xbox, the A.I. was torture, even on easy. I know all the special attacks, but the CPU is INCREDIBLY cheap! I don't like controller for it, mainly the L & R trigger buttons. The analog stick is a real pain. The SNES is a LOT easier than the arcade because the cheats definetly help. During development for the arcade game, the CPU was able to perform specials in the air.

  • Does that mean the SNES version is also cheap?

  • With cheat codes, it is not cheap. But without them, it is very cheap.

  • @StSubZero No, the SNES Version of MK2 is awesome.

  • 3:14 lmaoooooo

  • my fav mk game is umk 3 i want it for ds so bad

  • woah dude i bought a snes today for £14.99 with 2 games, $150 back then? woah, the earliest console i owned was ps1 which was like £100+ at the time, and believe it or not i bought a ps1 for £2.99

  • Playstation and Saturn were $900 when they were new consoles! :)

  • @TotalMK 3DO was the worst one ever. I remember when it first came out here in the States. Other systems were 200 to 300 US dollars. 3DO was $700 US. I still, to this day, can't believe anyone ever bought that thing.

  • @TotalMK Narr dont think so there TMK, Saturn was $399 usa, £299 uk.

  • @TotalMK Narr dont think so there TMK, Saturn was $399 usa, £299 uk. The 32x port IMO was the best home port.

  • What is a £? How much is that in American dollars?

  • 10 bucks

  • Thank you.

  • MKII was the very first MK game i played. I played it in on an arcade in a hotel in spain a few years back, my hole holiday was spent on that machine!!

  • Hey TMK i just ordered an SNES on ebay. Should i get this game with the box and manual or just the game. Which do you prefer ?

Very Nice with the three uppercuts at 6:27

that's my favorite fatality in the series .glitch or no glitch

  • Well that depends if you are a collector or not, or if you like to have the games complete...I myself like to have everything that comes with the games...others just want the game itself...the choice is yours!

  • its amazing how much better this was compared to the snes version of mk1 :)

  • Sindel isnt in MK2...

  • @TotalMK that would be awesome if she was lol, she's my favorite female character!

  • oh yeah i remember this game. i got my butt kicked all the time by my cousin. really cool game. a few years later my other cousin stole this game i haven't seen him in like 3 years! hope he still has it :p

  • I actually think this is maybe the best MK ever.

The jump between MK1 to MK2 is the loveliest.

  • that opening theme is my favorite song from all the mks

  • i dont care about the graphics, i dont care about the music, i dont care what you think, snes version is the best!

  • When i got this game i played it for a whole day straight lol it was fun.

  • did he say he "hired" it from the video store? haha that's cool. Great Reviews Dude!!

  • i was like 15 when than game came out, iskipped skool to go get it it cost me $120 in canada. Man those were the good old days.

I was a big fan of the arcade and felt the snes version was a very good port at the time

  • I was blown away when they released this game. It was nearly a perfect port of the arcade version. The SNES version distroyed the Genesis version.

  • true

the plug'n'play verison of mk1 is the cloest port from the arcade version

  • @chachee99 and the 32x version crushed the SNES version.

  • @kreeddem

No the fuck it didn't. Had the same graphics and sound as the Genesis version. Only the energy bars were improved, and the VS screen were improved.

Also Genesis and 32x doesnt even have crouching LP.

  • @diegoaccord Yea ok I will except what a little girl on the internet says, haha hell no!

At the end of the day I no the 32X version was better than the snes version. better and more original sounds from the arcade version, them shitty high pitched sfx the snes had. The snes music also sounded like someone was squeezing the life out of a cat. The 32x version was based from the pc version. End of.

Blocked from my account so if you reply to this I won't see it, UNLUCKY!

  • @kreeddem Even if YOU dont see everyone else will.

What a buthurt autistic bitch you must be. Sorry as long as the 32X had the same music, and the same 64 colors on-screen as Genesis, it's not better. Also its missing the low jab punch. fail.

  • I logged so many hours on this game. I played it for two summers back when it first came out. The arcade version of the game i haven't played till it was put on the Playstation Network. SNES port is the best port of the game. SEGA GEN version the audio is not as clear and the round end stances the characters do are different.

  • team mode is the best way to play

  • 10/10 aw yeah!

played it for a very long time, room packed with guys great memories.

tiny thing, no pause button in a fight.

still hope we get it in wii shop. i just love the cheats, and i miss those in the 3d fighters. and the midway arcade treasures versions.

  • This is best MK put on a Video Game System Period

  • I agree, it's very good. It's my favorite game on my emulator.

  • Show us how to fight smoke . please ?

  • if i remember it right. on the portal stage uppercut your opponent wen you see the guy in the corner yell ''toasty!!"

  • I know a code to make smoke your first opponet !

  • to do the toasty fatality with the dan forden SAYING TOASTY you hit hit down down, up up, HP

  • I belive I was 10 or 11 when I played this game nonstop... but I owned it on the Genesis.

  • if i wanted to be really fussy i would say that shao kahn's voices are innaccurate when he attacks and gets hit, but there is nothing that bothers me enough to give it a proper flaw, this version gets 10/10

  • to do toaty with th dan fprden saying it hit up up 2 times before the actual code

  • you mean down, down right?

  • First time playing this game I was in the 1'st grade

  • And if I look to my right I see my SNES with MK 2!! Still play it to this day - it look sooo much better on my HDTV!!

  • mk2 snes kicked mk1 snes's ass!

  • @REpsycho and mk3 snes kicked both their asses!

  • @thehappydaggerzandme no, UMK3 kicked all three of their asses!

  • @lucymydog1995 i prefer the REAL mk3 over umk3 though..i like trilogy wayy better than umk3 also!

  • @lucymydog1995 depends if you like more fighters to use or more pixles as mk3 had more pix then umk3. It was much clearer, more backgrounds and full speach ,umk3 does lack pix, speach and backgrounds. With all said and done its a hard choice between the two

  • was that (E) or (U), because there are major gameplay differences between the two versions

  • just a master peice

ya know whats funny is my mom would play this with me

this captain america, and street fighter

i wish this was on ds WITH GOOD DS SHAREING SINGLE CART PLAY! more than 4 characters!

    like ALL

  • Yeah, I remember this game. Truely bad azz!! Also the first version of MK 2 I Played. Good review by the way.

  • nice review one of the greatest games for the snes ever also lol you 7:09 you have a corona

  • TMK i recently found an original SNES with all three Mortal Kombats for 45 american dollars. now should i buy this. it has two controllers. watching these videos has brought back my love for the classic versions

  • why do you use that old tv, does the snes look better on old tv' than conventional non HD tv's

  • An old system for an old TV...it's classic!!

  • Shao Kahn says, "You Weak Pathetic Fool!" and "All to Easy!" that's the easter eggs from Super Nintendo!

  • Nothing says "Toasty" quite like MK2 SNES and a microwave TV :D

  • !!!Damnn LOL jaja mk2 it just the greatis game of all time its kick ass i dint know that cheats cool dude chears for u...x!!!

  • ayo if you like MK2 that much type in Mortal Kombat™ Blood Storm® (Mugen)

  • I played this game all last Sunday...Damn it was fun

  • why dose scorpion sound like a girl!!!!!

  • yeah it is a bad ass game, espiaccaly level fatalities and 2 different fatalities

  • i totally agree with mk2 for the snes was the fuckin BEST! i still play it everyday to this day because it is the SHIT!!!

  • Awesome! You have a Super Famicom! I want one of those! :) And I agree, MK2 on the SNES was theeee BEST conversions!

  • lol it's not a famicon ... its the snes european (pal) version .

the famicon & the pal version of snes look just almost the same ;)

  • Ahhh yes yes yes... You're absolutely right. I love its sleekish style. We always get a boxy version of Nintendo. Even the first Nintendo system looked like some kind of vcr in comparison to the original cream and red Famicom system from Japan which I'm proud to say I once owned as a kid. I never understood the mic on the 2nd player controller though. 0_o

  • Nice Review.

Those combos done are not that hard, just look at my MKII Apocalypto SNES video ;)

  • "Finish him" oh no it's round one...lol...

Yeah I have been trying do hard to get a copy for my SNES.

  • lol @ "cheating bastard" XD

This had to be my all time fave beat 'em up on SNES. It was just one of those games that you just couldn't put down! (I mean, fair enough, it wasn't exactly "arcade perfect", but considering it was a 16-bit conversion, I'd say Acclaim did a bloody good job of it!)

BTW, are you familiar with Johnny Cage's devastating 4-hit corner kombo?

(Jump-in kick, low blow, heel kick, regular OR shadow uppercut)
