  • i play this on drums sometimes. Yuval is great. So is Mike!

  • Epic. Forever epic.

  • F****** Awesome !

  • i ripped this CD from some site and listened to the album everyday till the songs expired, now 4 sum reason I can never delete the dead tracks from my playlist. Cursed I is.

  • Every candidate wants a catchy, punchy tune to define their campaigns. But if one single swinging Tom, Dick or Harriet on either side of the aisle were truly an honest man or woman, they would've gone with THIS one for the last run of elections (or would pick it for 2012). BTW - I feel so blessed that I got to see them live for their very last tour...behind THIS album!

  • @Survivor2002 Must have been quite nostalgic to see their last show. What all songs did they play from El Oso?

  • @DJchuffbucket - Sorry I'm just now seeing your post! They actually performed the entire album at the 9:30 Club in D.C., and unlike the last time they were there doing stuff from RUBY VROOM and IRRESISTIBLE BLISS, I had heard the album BEFORE the show, so I already had favorite songs I knew backwards and forwards, this being one of them...

  • wear can i download this?

1 copy of el oso left at cd store I MUST GET IT

  • @PunchingKitty PM me your email and I'll send you a copy of this song.

  • @DJchuffbucket nevermind i got it off Limewire. but thanks anyway

  • @DJchuffbucket Support the artists you love. Buy the album!

  • Is it me or is that piano sample from Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out"? Sounds exactly like his style. Perfectly integrated--thanks for the upload!!

  • @deltatangofoxtot I've always wondered the VERY SAME thing. I'd love to see a list of samples from this record a la Girl Talk.

  • Just discovered these and they rock!

    Great band :)

  • Who else was playing live dnb/jungle drumming in bands/songs back then? Was anybody? Is anybody now? They were so ahead of their time.

  • @PhantaSci No man, DnB was actually more heard of back then, and KJ Sawka plays live DnB (Look him up now!) He's really good. I know what you mean though, they really were the most unique band I can think of.

  • Comment removed

  • @DJchuffbucket I'm familiar with KJ Sawka, Lake Trout and Droid but I think Soul Coughing was the first "mainstream" band to pull it off.

  • @PhantaSci Yeah, You're right about that. Still I find myself in a group of people who have no clue who Soul Coughing is. What a shame.

  • @DJchuffbucket agreed definitely look up KJ sawka for that ill stuff

  • Rare.

  • So they can't re-unite because MD can't handle it. Fine. Why can't he at least do some SC as part of his solo act? How 'bout this, Mike; do soul-coughing songs in concert and record everything else. This musical culture finds it difficult to appreciate this very unique and entertaining musical style.

  • @diablogical I know what you mean. I'm only 15, but I can say that most kids are into this new crap (Justin Beiber, Lil' Wayne ETC) They can't seem to understand Doughty's unique sound. Most people can't understand that he uses a form of poetry called "Stream of Conscience Poetry" Meaning he says what's on his mind whether you like it or not lol.

  • The BEST part of this song is DEFINITELY around 3:20, when it has the really long build up to the almost screaming, and then, instead of the song 'exploding,' like you'd expect, it just goes right back into mike doughty 'singing' again, as though bored. like...

'...throw the rudder down, THROW THE RUDDER DOWN~~! Blame... is the cure, cure anything.'

    LOVE it.

  • JOHNNUMBERTHREE... The song your looking for is (casiotone Nation) Live version on Ruby Vroom album.

  • at the beginning it sounds like the theme of one of the splinter cell games ;DD

  • It's good to be reminded how good these guys were. Love the nod to Joe Jacksons's "Stepping Out."

  • what a great fucking song and album they influenced me musically a lot.

  • Dude, I can't think of the name of the song that has to do with, ya' know, 5% nation of this and that. Which one is that again?

  • Casiotone Nation

  • this such a mix of MMW and Phish....the intro reminds me of some MMW stuff and the chorus sounds kinda 'phishy'....

  • This song is great! I love playing this on bass, esp. the intro.

  • you should post a vid bro.

  • I would but I dont have a Camcorder/webcam. Also it's very easy to do. Fun, but easy.

  • Serioulsy?? could you tell me how? or maybe you could give me the tabs? thank you :)

  • yeah just go to scug (google it). They have tabs on all soul coughing songs, and most of them are pretty spot-on.

  • I'ma have to check that out.

  • Soul Coughing are one of my favorites. And Blame is one of my favorite songs.

  • Kind of reminds me of The Lion King... awesome!

  • i love this song :D

  • The intro of this sog is great, but i dont like the lyrics lol, i used to hear this when i was 9, now i hear metal but is fun to listen it again :D

  • Tell me about it

  • The Bear!

  • YES!
