  • Lots of tempo changes. I like it!

  • ONE guy seems to lack the knowledge of what true music is!

Also this sounds awsome. Do i prefer the finished "Moving Pictures" version? Yes, BUT this is still amazing, to be honest I wouldn't care if RUSH played the Mcd's theme, it woudn't matter, i'd still love it because it's RUSH!!!! :D

  • Thanks for the upload! A very different version!

  • Is amazing Peart can play it this fast. But why am I surprised, he's Neil Peart.

It is transposed up from the Studio Version.

    Synths are EPIC.

  • WOW....glad that version didn't make the final cut. Different lyrics at the end. But thanks for posting!!

  • I kind of like this version better, the synths sound really cool.

  • this+weed

  • What are the lyrics to that different verse? Can't quite make them out.

  • Wow! This is awesome!! I love what they did with the panning on the synths and some of the swells seem to come from front to back -- I don't know if someone did this post or during the show , but I've never heard the synths swirl around like that before. The time thing is just Rush -- they always had a tendency to speed up & slow down until mid 80's, especially starting off -- listen to Exit with the start of YYZ and you see how much it drags until bass & guitar come in. Ten clicks or so.

  • Very interesting.

  • 1:58-2:16 HOLY SHI-

  • Does anyone out there remember a video (vhs) called "through the camera eye" or "through the electric eye". It's the video that mtv showed. Different from rx3.

  • @matalmike YES! I have that on VHS. Don't have VHS in use any nore, but I own that video tape.

  • This was before they recorded it in the studio in November of 1980!

  • man Lerxst was smokin fast

  • Just a time capsule...Sounds like a new song, with a little work needed and got real tight for the record.

  • vastly different, but cool!

  • OMG this sounds raw. Love it!!! It's like Rush from 1976 playing Rush from 1982.

  • They didn't really slow down on most parts, other than the chorus.

The recording is just bad, slows down a lot of parts.

  • yeah, BUT if it was the tape slowing down, we'd hear a severe pitch shift. and it's pretty "on key"

  • The speed is too fast because its an old bootleg and it needs to be slowed down, but the boys would ALWAYS drag the chorus down in the early 80's(listen to Exit Stage Left)....

  • speed sounds.... I like the guitar solo Alex more than current now.

  • Listen to after the drum solo. They slow down a ton. I don't know if that was on purpose, but i think it sounds awesome! Although i wonder how Neil can play that with one hand (On the hi-hat with the 16ths at the start). Thats amazing. lol

  • Tom Sawyer on steroids! oh my god

  • I like that different keyboard part. Sounds more sorta spacey, ya know? And that solo is just straight madness! I love it!

  • man why wasint I born in 1950 :(

  • WOW! Man that's sped up. Sounds like punk rock! EPIC WIN on both album and live preformace!

  • Its remarkable how different this is. It is also remarkable how much they have evolved as a live act since then.

  • It almost sounds like a really hot young band doing a not-entirely accurate cover of the song. I know that's not what it is, but it is amusing to hear the weirdness of a band that is indisputably Rush making what sounds like a mess of their own song. Even though they're really not!

  • Seems like the speed fluctuates a little. Anyway, it sounds great. Guitar solo is amazing and keyboards sound cool, but I like Neil's drum fills during the bridge on the final version better.

  • Whoa, some different lyrics too.

  • sounds sped up

  • your right dude, i listened to the version you have its much slower.

  • @UkeTube It is sped up because the original tape(or record) is being played about 3% too fast. I fixed it! See the video response. Thanks for the upload BrianBegleyDublin

  • Geddy sure could sing the high notes back then. This is awesome! I wish i could have seen a Rush show back in the 70's and 80's.
