is it rumored that the new macbook pros dont have dvd burners? i spoke with an apple rep today about that and she said i'd have to get something external. that would blow because my first mac g4 had one. anyhow, cheers
How can you tell if your hard drive can burn cds? I have a windows xp hard drive, im not sure how old it is, but it says there is no cd burner available. I have more than one hard drive but i dont want to download programs if its not going to work. Is there an icon on the hard drive or something to figure it out?
@cjortegon91 CD-Rs are already formatted - preformatted. ANything is burned they are permanent. The CD-RW can be rewritten but all of the former data is destroyed each time. So you have to burn that same data all over again if you want to append more.
I want to partition my hard drive and run ubuntu linux on the other partition because I have a powerpc ubuntu disk.
the only thing it that whenever I hit apply it never makes any progress, it only says that it its modifying the partition maps but it never make any progress after that, should it take a really long time?

FDISK for FAT 32 is very much like CFDISK on Linux. I imagine that is why FAT 32 is supported but not NTFS. NTFS is a much better protocal

@medeamajic
NTFS is based on an old structure, Macs read it but do not write, maybe with MacFuse apparently developed by a Google staff member.

Of course NTFS is not new but It is better than FAT 32. It would be better for the Mac to read NTFS.
