Great vid Paul thanks mate. I used to dig lug at Minnis Bay kent, they are huge there. My shoulder gone now so have to buy them, costs a bloody fortune but once a fisherman, always a fisherman ay Paul lol. Tight lines from sunny margate kent.
fab mate thanx for that always dig my own but not always succesfull n always wandered if there is a way of doing it better n will be sure ta do it your way from now on great thanx
If you look at the blow hole. then observe the cast. the worms heads is pointing at the blow hole. he is about two inches behind the blow hole, anywhere from 12 -14 to 18" deep depending on temp sand conditions. they live in a u shape burrows but also contains a little offshoot at the bottom with a small area cleared out. I would recomend pumping them slowly with a 1 and 1/4 diam pump.
Spot on comment. Wish I could use the pump method here. I bought one and tried it quite a few times but the conditions here where I live are so variable with sand, mud, stones etc that I can do better with the fork.
Nice salted-lug in your other video. you can keep them in flora tubs full of medium fine - wood dust or (saw-dust uk) for a long old time un-salted and gutted. saves them from crushing also, good for mass storage (winter suplies).
worm comes back from cold looking real good. then re-hydrates(reverse-osmosis) on contact with water releasing a good bait scent.
Saw dust is the way to go for frozen -not so good for the Koi ;)
thank you for your comment. To answer your question..... No................The size of the worm is determined but the diameter of the piped cast I.E. the diameter of the 'worm turd'. This can be a large pile or just a short swirl. A big worm's turd will be 4mm in diameter. So, not the quantity of cast or the distance from the hole determines the size. Hope this helps.
@celticraider1 ...In the SE the diameter of the worm cast for black lug does not necessarily determine the size of the worm. Small diameter casts can contain larger worms. On the other hand, for blowlug the size of the cast usually determines the size. Use a fork for blowlug, they are not deep. For blacklug use a narrow bore 22mm diameter pump.... It wont be long before you get the knack (no use in stoney ground...)
thanks for the vid my friend i go fishing but don't know how to catch worms when is the best time to go? please write back much apreicated appreciated

@britanichris Thanks for the comments. Good luck with the fishing in Margate. No cod here this year. They have given Harwich a miss!

Thanks for the video, is it the further apart the casts the bigger the worm as a rule?
