It isn't how good he might be compared to the fighters of today. The majority of the Gracies are out of MMA because they know they are no longer 'invincible'. Renzo and Royce both bow to Rickson as the master in the family. Even Rorion does. If you see Rickson rolling with fellow BJJ alums now, he still beats them all, every time.

People's criticism of Rickson mostly comes from the outrageous 400-0 claims. He's a BJJ legend and a pioneer in MMA, but I'd stop short of calling him an MMA legend for the reason that his best victory was over Yuki Nakai, a fighter who weighted 30 pounds less and had just had the crap kicked out of him (not to mention his eye poked out) by two heavyweights. Rickson is a great martial artists, but Renzo and Royce did much much more in MMA and fought much better completion.

He is undefeated in his professional career, he was defeated at a Sambo Championship by an Uchi-Mata throw, but I don't believe that was a no hold bar fight.
