The way Butch's fingers glided over the keyboard was just incredibly amazing. I agree with other people that DMB definitely needs to bring back piano influences, but I'm not taking sides with the keys over Tim Reynolds or Leroi any day...they are all different in their own regard and all add tremendously to the DMB experience.

But, I would be partial to adding Jeff Coffin to the permanent lineup...

yes. the way carter (drums) and butch (keyboard) work together is simply amazing. it's a combination of talent, AND practice that makes this thing so special... sure, there is improv involved, but they know one another as musicians very well, and TRUST each other as musicians.

This is soo true, I dream of having a drummer that not only does his job, but does more than what he's expected. Beauford is a prime example of this. I love his style, he can play jazz too. Very well rounded guy. That's basically what this was, a jazz jam session in a sense over the (however little it may be) changes of Two Step.
