yeah i have a problem with what I'm certain is my disk drive. this is what happens: i can play netflix and everything without sh*t happening, BUT when i play a disc game for 2-45 minutes it will randomly freeze, shut the system down, and show 2 red rings.(once again, it only happens when playing a game disc.) if i could get any suggestions that would be f%#king awesome of you.i have tinkered it and fixed my heatsyncs and dusted the whole inside.also is there supposed to be glue in the diskdrive?
wicth x clamp video did you use to make this work because i have the exact same problem with mine please send me link as soon as you get this because iv been trying to fix this for 3 days still had no look
Not suggesting, just saying... The fans are not the issue, the gpu is acting like someone is lighting it on fire, A simple reball/reflow will fix that in a second. This is an easy fix
@mrgeo20 I know... I did read the description, I was just saying an option. Reflows are not complicated at all btw, they just seem like it when you actually havent tried it.
@OoFLINTSTONEoO Did you not hear the fans in the video? Nothing is wrong with them. The error code is "telling" him that the GPU is overheating, meaning (since you can clearly hear the fans spinning) that the x-clamps are probably lose. It can also mean a cold solder joint under the GPU though, but in this case it was defiantly the x-clamps.
i have a similar problem , i heard that under the cd drive there is an area that the fan cant reach. this obviously has a crazy load of dust build up.
theoretically all you have to do is blow it out with compressed air
@mrgeo20 idk i saw a video of a guy who took sapart his xbox and in the air filter or fan or something it wasnt working properly to move air causing 2 rings
@mrgeo20 just fixed a 3 rrod box n now its doin this shit x clamps have been replaced with new hardware n thermal paste n this shit is pissin me off i kno the fan works n this beezy is not dusty wtf is this fix?!
@tdennler1 you sir, need to hop off my nuts. idgaf if people are trying to help me. if they're too lazy to read in the description that I fixed this on May 16, 2010, and that I no longer need help, then they can fuck right off.
@mrgeo20 ok if you fixed it remove the fucking video. dumb ass. if you use youtube to ask for hep then remove the dam thing after you get the help you ask for
@mrgeo20 wait how do you fix that (clueless person warning) yeah i dont own a xbox360 YET :( and what is the e74 warning mean and the e73 warning/error what do those mean
@youB00s oh my fucking god... I fucking did the x-clamp fix a year ago and it worked fine! stop commenting trying to help me! read the damn description at least! jesus....
unplug everything on the console wate 30 seconds then plug every thing back in and turn on and it should be fine that is if ur still having this problem and did not fix it already
@mrgeo20 just so people stop commenting on the video, u mite as well delete it...its pointless now...unless u are leaving it up for people to read the description...which obviously some of these people are too ignorant to do...
OK i have this same problem... but when i turn my xbox on it go DIRECTLY to two lights and i get a E 74.... everything is still neutral tempertaure.... do i still put a fan over it..? will it work..?
@juhsscallme an e74 mite require a heat gun reflow...which can be extremely dangerous to the motherboard if it is done wrong...reflowing with a heat gun can fry your motherboard easily if done wrong...a reflow machine is the best thing u could possibly use but those cost 2000 or more...this person already fixed his problem by doing the x-clamp fix...u need to do the x-clamp fix and a reflow...look it up on youtube....
@darkmoon187ff i got it bro.. i fixed it.. i just did a x clamp fix with some of the thermal paste... and BAM back to normal... i didnt do a reflow...
@juhsscallme well if its still working then thats good...i have several xbox's with that problem...usually if it overheats from time to time, u mite either have the screws too tight or u might need a reflow like i said above...as it could be your ram having an issue...buh other than that, if its been working like a charm for a while, and its not a problem to you, then power to ya...
You may have ur heatsinks on too tight. There are 8 screws holding down the two heatsinks if those are screwed in too tight then it'll smother the processor and if its too loose then the sinks wont absorb the heat, so you'll have to find a happy medium for it. Thats what fixed the problem for me anyway.
@stumpling00 it's obvious if you did any research whatsoever on how to do the x-clamp fix... "lifeless faggot"? wow, only thing that's obvious is how low your IQ is, come up with some better insults before you try to get on my level, you clown. I love how little kids put a random adjective in front of a "bad word" and think they're hot shit. XD
@AppleItunesGiftCards maybe because this isn't my xbox, its a friends, i dont give a shit even if it was, I always have at least two xboxes on hand, this video is form May 2010 and I fixed it myself the day I made this video. I do not need peoples help anymore, and really never did except for a few minutes the day I made this video. I have said multiple times its fixed, and yet f-tards like you continue to comment. This xbox was JTAGd and mailed away long, long ago...
@stumpling00 well that was a stupid comment to begin with, because I said the x-clamp fix will fix this. If you do the x-clamp fix you would obviously have to replace the thermal paste, if you didnt that would defeat the purpose...
iv put a fix for this on modders heaven .......search xbox 360 modders heaven ....once in there look under forum ...then xbox 360 modding tut ...its in there
Listen, just open up the front plate of the xbox, and then open the top and bottom (the plate with holes in them) , and once its open there will be dirt and dust on the airways inside the xbox (very easy to notice the dust and airways), then just brush off the dirt out of the airways and you'd be good. i had this prob.
i had the same problem yesterday while fixing another xbox. what i did was just replace the xclamps. It does it be cause something is telling it that there isn't a good connection between the smaller heat sink and the gpu.
what thermal paste are you using ? Arctic 5 ? and how long ago did u apply it ? thats a factor but my only other idea is that the x clamps are loose as you say
because u touch yourself at night

@amskhan101 the fans can definitely reach under the drive, the fan tunnel directs them that way, lol. x-clamp fix is needed to solve this problem.
