Its basically about a person who constantly gets his heart broken, yet he keeps going back to love. "But all the times that I've been broken, I still run right back for more." And he's saying that you'd think he'd learn to stop falling in love just to get his heart broken in the end. "You'd think that I'd learn my lesson by now, you'd think that I'd somehow figured out that if you strike that match you're bound to feel the flame." Aka the match is love, and feeling the flame is heartbreak.
