This is a realllllly good tutorial and shows how effective these weapons can be, specially for defence purposes, i saw another tutorial on how to block and parry swords by using the kama to trap the sword, could u maybe do a version of that so i could practice more? all in all well done, great video.
These videos were done more than 15 years ago by Shihan Nishiuchi, and he is not making any videos now, but has lately been working on books on the weapons. By the way, he is also a sensei in iaido, so I'm sure he does know what would work as a counter to a katana.
Amazing stuff. I love this weapon and these show some great real and practical examples of it in use. One query though: if your opponent wielded a sword, how would you block or parry that? Using the handle, as shown here, could cause the sword to go straight through it!

I wouldn't need martial arts training to know that a sharp pointy scythe blade to the groin would incapacitate anyone.

True, but you might need martial arts training to deliver the blow before the opponent does.
