US Department of State got it right in its Profile of Burma this time. It says this under :PEOPLE": The majority of Burma's people are ethnic Burman. Shan, Karen, Rohingya, Arakanese (Rakhine), Kachin, Chin, and Mon, together with other smaller indigenous ethnic groups, represent about 30% of the population. Indians and Chinese are the largest non-indigenous groups.
Those people may have been born in Bengal but their ancestors were driven out of Arakan by King Min Don and hence they were born outside Arakan. Big Deals!
Aye Chan should analyze and understand that Rohingyas are not Bengali based on the things he himself said. He has mentioned in this video series how much Bengali loves their Bengali language. And in this particular video, he said that one of the seven things Mujahids asked was that Urdu language be acknowledged as the language of Rohingya people. If Rohingyas are Bengali, hell would freeze over before they ask Urdu language be their national language. Aye Chan is caught in his lies. He He
This guy NEVER mentioned in his speech about the persecution the Muslims in Arakan endured under the Buddhists. And he claimed to be providing historical truth. Hislarious!.
What made these Rohingys so scared that they had to insist on those provisions for them as Burma was gaining its independence? No group would be so adamant to insist such provisions unless they feel the threat to their identity, religious practice, and language not to mention persecution by the non-Muslim majority.
What's the definition of "Mula", "Padhama". What time line is used to determine the definition is of these terms? British, as the foriegn occupiers made a quick analysis in determining the groups of people residing in Burma without taking into consideration of those (came to refer themselves as Rohingya) that Bamar King Bodawpaya drove out from Arakan to Chjittagaung. This community of Rohnigya began inside Arakan and that is a fact.
Contd. When King Bodapaya of pre-British Burma annexed Arakan kingdom in 1784, he made the Muslims of Arakan build Bhuddist monasteries making their lives so miserable that 200,000 of them fled to Chittagong, a city in eastern Bengal (now Bangladesh). When British took Burma in 1885, they (& their descendents) came back to their homeland in Arakan instead of living as foreigners in Bengal. The Rohingya community did not originate in Bengal.; it originated in Arakan.
I suggest that anyone who wants to learn about the history of Rohingya to learn from sources other than the Burmese or Rkhine people or Rohingyas. Find 3rd party sources - there are plenty - and educate yourself.
....how about King Bodawpaya's treatment toward the Muslims after annexing Arakan kingdom, making 200,000 of the ancestors of current day Rohingyas fled to Chittagaung? When the British came, they came to come recllaim their homes. What's wrong with that?
Anyone can make a claim about the atrocity of the other side by taking historical information out of context. I can provide a more reliable source that says that Arakanese captured Bengalis and brought them as slaves. The man who talks about the Muslims burning the Rakhine villages failed to talk about that. Not only that, how about King Bodawpaya's treatment toward the Muslims after annexing Arakan kingdom, making 200,000 of the ancestors of current day Rohingyas fled to Chittagaung?
All these clowns need to learn more history of Burma, history of of Bengal, history of Mughul Empire. history of Turks, history of Persians, history of Arabs, history of of Islam to understand the complex nature of Rohingyas people and in fact history of how human migration happened through history. What makes a group indigenous, etc.
@aarakanese If you want to know about Rohingyas, stop listenting to those what said what you want to hear which supports your prejudiced view and read real historical facts about the region of Arakan.

His body guard? He must have had a lot of enemies to need a bodyguard. Beside, why would he hire such a person as a bodyguard. It must be lies.

@citizenOfNowhere777
