long met your work. Visited your blog. they're gorgeous. Disappointing that the video is just one. really want to know how you draw. I still have great difficulty with beautiful tone paintings. From the video does not quite understand how you're doing it. I would be grateful for new videos. :) Thank you!!!
@Donamaria22 I don't wanna say thats it's better since they are loads of different ways to do it and everyone has their own style but it does offer some benefits;
you get to model the subject and focus on values and shape.
Awesome tutorial. :D It's great you showed us your method, it gives me some insights on new ways to do things, and you've definitely got skills! :D The only thing I'm not quite sure about is how did you colourize the picture? It doesn't look dark enough to be a Multiply layer, and I saw you mentioned something about a 'gel layer'. I'm just wondering if it's possible to do something similar in Photoshop.
Very cool stuff ! What I like most is the color of this piece. I've read comments on this post in regards to tablets. I've used wacom intuos3, a great tablet. I recently was awarded a settlement for car accident and made the splurge on wacom cintiq tablet (google it if you're not familiar) hands down the greatest tool for digital artists. If you can afford 2K dollars..........don't walk, run to your nearest distributer !!!!!
Can I honestly ask who ever painted this, how Long it took you to become this good with painting in Photoshop? Because I'm such a beginner that all this video does is discourage me! Don't get me wrong, I'm a great artist! I'm very good with actual paints, I've been drawing all my life and I'm successful in animation! But I'm just going Sooo slow in getting to understand photoshop as an art tool! I really want to get good with it. I'd be happy to just be 25% as good as you! Sheesh!
im a beginner with corel painter, and i was wondering; how do you bring in texture images and put them in the background of your picture like you do at 5:35, 5:42 and 7:14?
Im not a pro in Corel, but Im pretty sure it works the same on Photoshop as in Corel:
You just open up the picture in a new document (edit some stuff if needed) then you copy paste the image on your drawing in a layer above it. Then you set the layer to overlay, and your done. Now you can also submask the overlay texture, to get rid of stuff you dont want.
there are a couple other cheaper ptablets as well. but they are usually less reliable less responsive and less thoughtfull. e.g wacom's pens dont need any batteries which is kidna cool and the overal quality is very good.
the wacom bamboo fun medium comes at around 160€ in europe so its like 180$ or sumethin, its pretty good for the price! hope that helps
oh yeah, i used to use an aiptek tablet, it was ok but not as great as the intuos by wacom im using now!
@Roflwahflez There's also the genius brand. You can find their products at genius.net. They're pretty good beginner level stuff too. Way cheap but pretty acceptable quality.
the best thing one artist can do for another is inspire them and that's what u've done...right now i'm goin thru a point where i hate everything i draw. it's past what i've been doin but for some reason i'm not happy with it...i seen ur drawing and every detail u added made the picture that much better.i believe that's what i'm struglling with my work isn't as developed as i would like it thus i'm unhappy with it,even tho it meet my prior work.i guess i'm goin thru an improvment stage or somet
Don't be discouraged though. I've just finished my third attempt at a drawing and I'm quite pleased with it. I did it in Photoshop as I use that for my Photography but you need to practice and have patience. Believe me you will get there. It may be that you're being too critical of your own work. If you PM me we could exchange some artwork and judge each other.
Now I noticed that you first painted the pic. in greys but some how managed to make that become dark and light greens, how was this achieved if I may ask?
Looks like my grandma.

awesome..i love wiches!
i noticed that you work on grayscale then you add the colors and textures.
is it better this way or easier?
i mean if you just color directly wouldn't you have the same result?
what kind of Wacom you're using?
oh yeah, just one more thing..
do you have a DA account ?

Looks like he? created a new layer for the color and went over the grey w/ color then eventually merged them.
I could be wrong though.. I don't have the program, but want it badly! heh

he first established the lighting (black-white), then I believe, he just slowly made them more and more saturated by painting on top of them.
