his coach is sean foley ofcourse its going to be good, what i do want to ask you @cmoney1988 is your ball flight low? with so much wieght on the left side you will hit it low, and you do anything to counter act that would it be a different type of downswing?
That is textbook perfect. I wish the guys that criticize this swing were required to post their golf swings on youtube before they were allowed to comment. Nice swing Ryan. Perfection, I'd put that up against anyone!
@mark92618 While I totally agree with you about the ridiculousness of the criticisms people make about swings on youtube I can't agree with the post swings before commenting concept.
You don't have to have a good golf swing to have a good understanding of the golf swing. Most golf instructors have decent swings, but very, very few have textbook perfect swings. Also, many of the great teachers are only decent golfers themselves. You don't have to play at the highest level to teach at it.
absolutely great swing.. seams like foley made your own little swing. i was reading some of the posts and decided id comment. The ball position is not relative to where it is in relation to your feet but to ur spine tilt at address.
FYI, hogan couldn't address the ball with his elbows tied-in like he wished because of the pain he felt due to the bus accident. but he understood the absolute necessity for it in order to allow the arms to work TOGETHER. i like severam but like so many others who studied the MAN, he's off...
finally someone using hogans name with a decent action. i noticed you fan the club right off the ball. although hogan said he did that , he did not.Because you do , your clubface after impact is n o t toe up. in power golf (which hogan wrote alone, 5 fund. was written by herb wind) hogan says the only way the wrists cock is straight up. Also , note where your right arm is at impact and a little beyond. Hogans is still tied to his body, while yours is breaking away because of your fanning
i noticed that at 0:11 you play your iron shot a little back in your stance? is this because you have trouble topping you iron shots. i was wondering if this could help me because i play all my irons in the middle of my two feet and i was wondering if this technique could help. other than this your swing is the best i've seen so far here you you tube. you look very relaxed and very stable. i love the way you take back the club and don't move your hips too much. all in all awesome swing dude.
you hit a ton of really really good positions throughout your swing, how long have you been playing? please take a look at mine and tell me what you think.
I can defiantly see comparisons between yours and Mr Hogans swing, the way you turn ure right foot into the ground on the back swing and the lateral shift forwards rather than around. i like the way the pressure is on the right foot even to the down swing. Have you watched Sevam1's videos he has the best knowledge of Mr Hogans swing,
Great swing, but it has little in common with Hogan's other than the so called early leg drive and lower body power. Your set up is different, your takeaway is different, your overall back swing is different. Not saying at all that these need to be changed, but they are not Hogan. You definitely have a lot of ability.
I like the swing a lot. I wouldn't think too much about pivoting into the back leg. Think of the hip action as circular, therefore the weight actually ends up mostly in the left heel at the top of the backswing. This was one of Hogan's keys. His swing always bottomed in the same place, so ask yourself, How did he ensure this? The stronger the grip, the less forearm rotation is needed. Your club's a little shut so just rotate harder and don't worry about "release". It releases naturally.
I just finished hogan's book.Five lessons The modern fundamentals of golf. Looks like you have put a lot of time and effort into your swing. I'm interested in some things that you say that Hogan said but didn't do. I did notice his arms weren't roped together as he describes in his book. Keep up the good work
cool thanks. Ive taken golf a bit more seriously this year (broken 80 a couple of times) by basing my practice on hogan fundamentals from his book. The action of the right elbow has always confused me -- i suppose my elbows feel close together because i had a natural right elbow chicken wing tendency when i was younger, as opposed to your swing when paused at 0:05 which look really close together (to me anyways). Either way, great swing, and look forward to more videos!
This is one fundamental not to be overlooked. The right elbow is the swing. Neglect of this fundamental and you rob yourself of distance and control. The trick is to accomplish most of what you need in your set up and the fundamentals will make you accelerate your learning.
LOL @ the 15 handicappers and their swing vision analysis.
you have a great swing bro. you should start learning to work the ball a lot and get deadly with the putter and maybe we'll be mates on tour one day! ha
That is one of the best swings on youtube IMO. Not too far off from Hogan but he releases more left with all his clubs and the driver especially. Only thing I see is the face of the driver looks shut at the top. Maybe use some more forearm rotation? Nice Job
And you set your wrist cock angle very early. You are completely hinged when you're halfway back. Faldo used to try to attain this position though, so not automatically bad, he had a great swing! But it may cause your overswing. I would say with the driver you definitely hinge too early (IMHO!). Compare other tour pros at the 9 o'clock point. Most hinge fully by the time it is at "10.30". But great rhythm and set-up though; top-quality.
And your driver swing over-swings. For some people, this is ok, it helps their rhythm. For others it gives their arms a longer distance to travel; further to catch up the hips. For the better golfer, who starts down with hips, this can create timing errors thru ball and then a ball flight error. A block as your hip turn causes u to come inside-out too much; a pull-hook if you throw it from top or try to save shot with hands at impact; a fat shot occasionally. Give your arms a headstart from top.
Great tempo and rhythm. Your hips outrace your arms, so instead of your hands being in front of your trouser zip at impact, they are off the right hip. I bet you pull-hook and block it, struggle to control distance. Your club is shut at top - maybe a product of your v.strong grip? Hard to tell - needs to be slow-motion and the camera needs to be on plane down the line and squarer face-on. Your ball pos. with driver face on is opposite the toe of your foot - may be an error or optical illusion.
you have one of the best moves away from the ball i've seen. good swing plane

@helenathena
He slides his hips forward creating secondary axis tilt, allowing him to hit it high. He also 'jumps' at impact, another way to shallow the strike.

Cmoney- In essence.... The right elbow is KEY. Once you can accoplish all the fundamentals the puzzle will make sense.
If you control the club with your hands, it is wrong. You need to think about the roght elbow and how it moves or controls the swing.
Looks like you spin the shaft, etc...
sessien 3 years ago
