2 years on fsx never being able to do a perfect carrier landing then watch this 3 times repetetively and go on fsx and by listening to the engine and what the pilot does i managed to do a perfectly smooth landing

do they rev the engines up incase they missed the rope or whatever catches them?

@supersoakman1212 ~ That is correct. When they hit the deck they rev the throttle to full power just in case they miss the wire and have to go around. If they catch the wire then no problem, it can slow them to a safe stop even when they're at full throttle, so they simply throttle back and release the wire. If they miss it then throttling up assures they're fully prepared to fly off the angled deck and go around for another landing attempt.
