I went to London's Hard Rock Cafe, where this was filmed and the guitar is no longer "Touchable" and remains in a glass case because a child ran out of the vault with it into the actual cafe across the road to show his friends that he is holding the Hendrix guitar... I could not have a photo with it and was a little dissapointed...
theres actually quite a story to that guitar it was lost for a while and picked up in england from a second hand store the the original paint was taken off but repainted exactly to the original paint job jimi had done himself
AWESOME! Hey, I have a 2003 Flying V, vintage white, ebony fretboard... really nice! Wanna' do a trade? Just joking, but "if" you're ever so drunk to think that it sounds like a good idea? No really, thanks for the peak at such an "iconic" guitar, I LOVE V's and THAT is the holy grail to a fan, thanks again.
I'm happy to say that I have held the V, played it (it was strung for leftys) and I got the pictures to show it. It was for me a VERY special experience. Since I have worked in London I have done this 3 times.
WOW!!! Jimi had (3) V's: The early hand-painted RH model he had in '67/8; A '69 RH model he had backstage @ MSG w/Eddie Kramer (never to be seen again); And this one - a gift from Gibson to Jimi, Gold-plated pick-ups & bridge, and diamond inlays in the neck!
i mean no insult. I guess its something we say down here in Texas. "No shit" meaning, I agree whole-heartedly. As in, "dude. Let go if Jimi's Flying V" and your buddy would agree and say, "no shit".
Yeah it is funny how things work considering that you're speaking the same language as I am. The water problem is pretty bad but I mean its not like everybody is dying or anything, there's other countries with far worse problems.
I did a report for a nutrition class (nursing student) and it sounds like you guys are on the verge of a catastrophe! Could be hype but the reality of water shortage is the one problem we as a whole should
I saw that flying V Guitar in 1998 at London´s Hard Rock Cafe!I eate my dinner with that guitar beside of me... also there were Jimi´s clothes and hand written poems and other items. I have touched Jimi´s Jacked sleeve!!
@jarvisl8 No. He just had 3 Flying V's over the years, one sunburst one, the one he painted with that psychedelic pattern and this one. BTW: This one is the only custom made guitar Hendrix ever owned. It's also the only lefty guitar he used on tour and for recordings. So it's a very unique guitar and I'm jealous of this guy he was able to touch it.
Wow this makes me mad sometimes all of Hendrix's clothing and guitar's should go to a fucking Hendrix museum. Not in the godamn hard rock cafe vault or some rich snob's hand's the just collects items at fucking auctions thank god they saved his Hand painted flying V
I went in October and they have got a new policy where your not aloud to touch it! or get a photo next to it, was pretty dissapointed they offered a picture with a signed bon jovi guitar! hahaha no way! and they would have charged £10 for that! it was good seeing some of the stuff there and sitting on jimi's bench from his house then I went round to where he used to stay on new bond street.
If you are ever in the Seattle area, check out The Experience Music Project. They have more Hendrix artifacts there than you will ever see in one place. Pieces of the Monterey Strat. The white Woodstock Strat. Hand-written lyrics. Paintings from his childhood. Mixing board from Electric Lady Studios. Clothes. Much, much, more. That's just the Hendrix section. There is A LOT more to see at the EMP.
For much of my time watching this, I was thinking "Sheesh, he's about six inches from swinging the headstock of that PRICELESS guitar directly into that picture frame on the left!"
I'm glad he didn't do so. Personally, I think I'd be too afraid to even touch that guitar, for fear of damaging it.
how does one go about doing such a thing with such a legendary guitar???? it i ever layed my hands on the guitar, i'd drill a hole in it...then fuck it doggystyle
does anybody know how many hendrix guitars are out and their status? i know zappa had one, and there is this one. it would be interesting to see the wear on them and to know who owns them...
Shit this is unreal ... I'm just watchin Jimmy at the Isle of Wight DVD - turned my laptop on - and the previous vid linked to this one . Fukin spooky. I'm watchin the axe right now on my LCD.... Christ, I aint gonna sleep tonight.
This might be the actual guitar Jimi used at San Diego Sports Arena for the live recording of Red House on the lp "In The West".

Jimi's V was a right hand with a white truss nut cover. He also played a stratocaster during the concert segments at Rainbow Bridge.
