  • This might be the actual guitar Jimi used at San Diego Sports Arena for the live recording of Red House on the lp "In The West".

  • What I'd give to hold that guitar!!!

  • I went to London's Hard Rock Cafe, where this was filmed and the guitar is no longer "Touchable" and remains in a glass case because a child ran out of the vault with it into the actual cafe across the road to show his friends that he is holding the Hendrix guitar... I could not have a photo with it and was a little dissapointed...

  • @164jord That's terrible! Stupid thing for that kid to do too.

  • @Kingddd333 It sucks

  • OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! I would die! and holy shit I sound like a groupie teenage girl!!!

  • PUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!!!

  • theres actually quite a story to that guitar it was lost for a while and picked up in england from a second hand store the the original paint was taken off but repainted exactly to the original paint job jimi had done himself

  • Jimi's V was a right hand with a white truss nut cover. He also played a stratocaster during the concert segments at Rainbow Bridge.

  • I held that same guitar as well!!! IT WAS AMAZING! However, the renovated it not too long ago, and now everything is behind glass.

  • 'gasp' YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE!!!!!

    :)

  • Cool, I have a pic of me holding that guitar in the Vault of the London Hard Rock Cafe too... it's in my video of the Hard Rock, check it out.

  • what? what hard rock vault?

  • hard rock cafe ; london

  • I went there, I didn't play it though :( i did play Gene Simmons' axe bass though.

  • Is this the same guitar that has "love drops" written on it?

  • AWESOME! Hey, I have a 2003 Flying V, vintage white, ebony fretboard... really nice! Wanna' do a trade? Just joking, but "if" you're ever so drunk to think that it sounds like a good idea? No really, thanks for the peak at such an "iconic" guitar, I LOVE V's and THAT is the holy grail to a fan, thanks again.

  • LOVE THAT GUITAR

  • I would get chills holding that.

    R.i.p. Mr. Hendrix

  • I'm happy to say that I have held the V, played it (it was strung for leftys) and I got the pictures to show it. It was for me a VERY special experience. Since I have worked in London I have done this 3 times.

  • WOW!!! Jimi had (3) V's: The early hand-painted RH model he had in '67/8; A '69 RH model he had backstage @ MSG w/Eddie Kramer (never to be seen again); And this one - a gift from Gibson to Jimi, Gold-plated pick-ups & bridge, and diamond inlays in the neck!

  • Ive played that at the vault

  • NO shit!

  • wat do u mean by 'no shit'?

  • i mean no insult. I guess its something we say down here in Texas. "No shit" meaning, I agree whole-heartedly. As in, "dude. Let go if Jimi's Flying V" and your buddy would agree and say, "no shit".

  • sorry its just that here in australia we wouldn't use that term in that way

  • isnt it funny, geographical semantics and hollo-phrases. Australia? really? how is your water situation?

  • Yeah it is funny how things work considering that you're speaking the same language as I am. The water problem is pretty bad but I mean its not like everybody is dying or anything, there's other countries with far worse problems.

  • I did a report for a nutrition class (nursing student) and it sounds like you guys are on the verge of a catastrophe! Could be hype but the reality of water shortage is the one problem we as a whole should

    try to remedy.

  • I saw that flying V Guitar in 1998 at London´s Hard Rock Cafe!I eate my dinner with that guitar beside of me... also there were Jimi´s clothes and hand written poems and other items. I have touched Jimi´s Jacked sleeve!!

  • you should have touched the guitar as well or was it in a glass case

  • ive seen one in the guitar center vintage room once.

  • ive been to the hard rock cafe i didnt see the guitar tho:(

  • Will they let anyone hold it supervised?!!

Because damn if you can i know where i'm going when i'm next in London

  • unbelievable. though he wasn't happy at the isle of wight, he got some incredible sounds out of that bad boy. incredible guitar

  • the original hendrix's v have decorations

  • ONE of his flying V's had them

Jimi had many guitars of the same model

  • @jarvisl8 No. He just had 3 Flying V's over the years, one sunburst one, the one he painted with that psychedelic pattern and this one. BTW: This one is the only custom made guitar Hendrix ever owned. It's also the only lefty guitar he used on tour and for recordings. So it's a very unique guitar and I'm jealous of this guy he was able to touch it.

  • i have played it too

  • dont scrach it

i would kill 2 have that guitar and i cant even play guitar i would put it in a show case lol

  • hmmm...i thought the v he used at isle of white had a tune-o-matic bridge....

  • ooops i was wrong...damn thats really it...fuck that guy is lucky!

  • my dad got to hold the v at the auction when it was sold for, like, millions

  • wen i went there a year ago they had a mini movie thearter playing one of jimis early concerts, its was amazing!

  • i went there yestarday!

  • I think Indiana Jones put it best: "That belongs in a museum!!"

  • Wow this makes me mad sometimes all of Hendrix's clothing and guitar's should go to a fucking Hendrix museum. Not in the godamn hard rock cafe vault or some rich snob's hand's the just collects items at fucking auctions thank god they saved his Hand painted flying V

  • That guitar is in a vault in the basement at the HR cafe in London. You can go see that anytime.

  • Anytime if I lived in the U.K.

  • he is touching what Jimi touched.... that man is the luckiest SOB on earth!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW what i would do to do that.....

  • Drop that, and people WILL die.

  • I went in October and they have got a new policy where your not aloud to touch it! or get a photo next to it, was pretty dissapointed they offered a picture with a signed bon jovi guitar! hahaha no way! and they would have charged £10 for that! it was good seeing some of the stuff there and sitting on jimi's bench from his house then I went round to where he used to stay on new bond street.

  • Your so lucky!!! I have to go there!! Oh my god!!! God damn im goin to london. I want in my hands, soul and heart Jimi Hendrix´s flying v!!!

  • If you are ever in the Seattle area, check out The Experience Music Project. They have more Hendrix artifacts there than you will ever see in one place. Pieces of the Monterey Strat. The white Woodstock Strat. Hand-written lyrics. Paintings from his childhood. Mixing board from Electric Lady Studios. Clothes. Much, much, more. That's just the Hendrix section. There is A LOT more to see at the EMP.

  • i live in puyallup washington and i went to the emp. its AMAZING

  • ooohh myyy goddddd!!! the guitar and the cushions, your so lucky, i have to go there!! oh my god

  • I want that Bench!

  • realy rad means cool

  • i met the dude who filmed it, he was really rad, and he let me do the same!

  • Hey guys!

I came about the phrase "really rad" some weeks ago. What does it mean? English isn't my mother tongue.

  • it means cool or awesome

  • thanks :-)

  • god damn im goin to london

  • I did the same thing when I went to london. I did almost shit my pants, and cried. It was the coolest thing ever.

  • Hey I want that guitar!!!

  • fat bastard.!!

  • For much of my time watching this, I was thinking "Sheesh, he's about six inches from swinging the headstock of that PRICELESS guitar directly into that picture frame on the left!"

I'm glad he didn't do so. Personally, I think I'd be too afraid to even touch that guitar, for fear of damaging it.

  • me too same thing with the blackie

  • £9000

  • ow much for thee guitar ya got there laddey

  • Awsome. I love gibson's.

  • Fenders are the best no comp

  • how does one go about doing such a thing with such a legendary guitar???? it i ever layed my hands on the guitar, i'd drill a hole in it...then fuck it doggystyle

  • Ha I played that guitar

  • ive done that exact same thing

  • does anybody know how many hendrix guitars are out and their status? i know zappa had one, and there is this one. it would be interesting to see the wear on them and to know who owns them...

  • you lucky son of a bitch. lol no but I would give my left arm to play that thing, then say, "Crap I cant play it now."

  • Shit this is unreal ... I'm just watchin Jimmy at the Isle of Wight DVD - turned my laptop on - and the previous vid linked to this one . Fukin spooky. I'm watchin the axe right now on my LCD.... Christ, I aint gonna sleep tonight.
