I don't know much about the proposed US health care reform, but I presume it's the same as in Oz, i.e. that the Parliament will be empowered to make the necessary changes to the states' health care system. I can understand why Joe Blogs from bumfuck, AL wouldn't want Parliament having more power, but surely the health care system there needs some sort of intervention. My opinion is that the majority of the population aren't sufficiently educated enough to know what's beneficial for them.

You really have to understand that most states in the u.s. already have health care programs to make sure all children and pregnant women are taking care of.. and all kids regardless can get health care coverage. Now if you go to the emergency room they have to accept you if you have health problems. Then the local area has to pay for it... So whats the difference in me paying for a bum to go now or them having a program the gov't involves itself in.

I can understand the Bush/Kerry outcome as it appeared to be legitiamate from an outsiders point of view, but the Bush/Gore outcome was a complete slap in the face of democracy in a country who supposedly shows the way in that regard. I was there for that election and was amazed by the whole process. Even the pre-selection process seemed inherently flawed.
I hate to say it, but the one world order crap that everyone peddles, and/or anarchy might be the answer to stabilise things!

I think he calls things as he sees them and has a far broader perpective on the world's perpection of the US, so that cannot be a bad thing. I don't know much about the proposed US health care reform, but I presume it's the same as in Oz, i.e. that the Parliament will be empowered to make the necessary changes to the states' health care system. I can understand why Joe Blogs from bumfuck, AL wouldn't want Parliament having more power, but surely the health care system there needs some sort of intervention. My opinion is that the majority of the population aren't sufficiently educated enough to know what's beneficial for them.

So therefore if you have your own healthcare you'll have to pay for your own and more for everyone else through taxes that obviously the general public will have to foot the bill for.

Now if you go to the emergency room they have to accept you if you have health problems. Then the local area has to pay for it... I cant speak for that specific instance. But judging by what I saw in the background, I would assume thats on a Navy ship. I cant tell you the custom behind it. But I can tell you that when in port in US waters our carrier always put out a gaff pole up and the ensign flew from it. Again, dont know why, but thats how we always rolled on both the Stennis and the Vinson.
