  • Great job!

Makes me wanna go for a long trip.

  • 12,000km of mongo pushing just defeats the purpose

  • @tonyslaybeez It would have, I agree. Except that I was switching feet.

  • Amazing! 1.30 did that guy give you the finger?

  • @hadashi05 Potentially...not sure if he was waving hello or telling me to sod off.

  • What a badass!

  • @5mudg3420 Cheers!

  • All I can say is WOW. You are awesome and amazing. You have inspired me to do something like this someday.

  • This is amazing.I give you huge props.

  • I love the part where you realize the roads arent getting better towards shanghai. it was like that through most of peru and morocco for us. The roads rarely got better until the last few km towards a major city.

One more thing, Rob I think we used the same type of tooth brush on our trips (although mine was cut in half to save weight haha)

  • @fuzzydeer Toothbrushes are for the weak...I now superglue sandpaper to my tongue...the ultimate in lightweight teethcleaning ;-)

  • this took u a year?! how did u do it with no contact with friends family, events, it must of been crazy going home, by the way i love longboarding, but i have yet to find a good long distance longboard any suggestions

  • YES! Your doing it wrong! I also ride mongo ;)

  • @MrGoaMan he switches

  • kinda felt sorry for ya xD

  • I bet he was in SHAPE!

  • @lancer2589 I was quite skinny...a little too skinny!

  • @14degrees But I bet your legs were super strong

  • @lancer2589 They were endurance legs...note the 'were' past-tense... :-)

  • Truely Great! :) Nice job man! Real nice job! watching all of this makes me want to do something like this... One day... Maybe! :P

  • @1ethan6661 Thanks! If you have the chance, I recommend doing it!

  • About 1 month ago i was looking at your video then I took the decision to Longboard for 2000 Km. Now I have done about 500 Km up to date. I have 1500Km left to do.

  • OK, so I'm going to be getting a longboard soon and this looks like the perfect board for coursing and maybe carving or bombing if i feel like it

    it is defiantly durable..

i wanted to know if you think this is a good board for me and if so what hardware should i get with it (this will be my first long board and first nice skate bored)

  • @ShyGuy236 Contact Longboard Larry about his new generation Pusher board. He is working on it now, and I am guessing it should be out soon. It should be a great improvement on an already awesome board. I think Holey Trucks are awesome, but even Randals would be fine. As for wheels, go for anything between 75mm and 85mm, such as Seismic Speedvent or Orangatangs.

  • cungrads but rely madelses dude

  • does your longboard have any flex to it? btw congrats

  • @elemprice No flex at all...really rigid.

  • congratulations

  • hey man your so inspiring! what kind of longboard did you use? for both your board and the luggage board?

  • Thanks! The board I was riding was a Longboard Larry The Pusher board; fantastic board. The trailer was an old Rollsrolls carbon fibre board.

  • fucking great! - did you have a solar charger for camera batteries, how many miles would you cover on an average day.

  • No, no solar charger. I had one for a while, but it was more hassle than it was worth. I just carried two spare batteries for the camera plus a recharger, and this would last me about a week between recharges. I would cover between 30 and 60 miles a day, depending on the road surface and wind direction.

  • nice

  • Congratulations on a this fantastic journey!!! Go Longboard!

  • hahaha mongo

  • very very inspiring, I'd love to do this some day.

And @billyb3williams - what, you think hes just gonna push regular the entire trip? talk about lopsided!

  • This Is Really Amazing.

    Congrats Man

  • did you ever have to change anything like bearings or trucks?

  • Trucks lasted 10,000km before they got sloppy (pivot wore out), and I had three sets of bearings that I rotated every 500km or so, cleaning them out thoroughly and re-greasing them. So three sets of Bones Sixes lasted the 12,000km.

  • How did you manage to go downhill with the luggage on your back. That must have been a hassle.

  • Once you are used to the extra weight and momentum, it's not a big hassle at all. You just have to be aware that it takes a little longer to stop from speed. With the trailer, as I had it set up, I was not able to carve; the trailer would tip over. With a better trailer design however, carving could be possible, I'm sure.

  • You sure make it sound easy. Not being able to carve is as dangerous as it gets.

  • I would disagree. Not being able to foot brake from any speed is extremely dangerous. Before someone can carve, they should be able to foot-brake. The reason for this is because for the most part, anyone skating down a downward slope will be on a public road, which means that there will be cars, which means that if neccessary, the skater will have to be able to control their speed without moving out into the path of oncoming traffic. The only way to do this safely is by footbraking.

  • Go Longboard

  • wtf

  • What the hell, only this much views? :\

  • can you honestly give me a reason why pushing mongo is bad like really do you even have one or are you just a poser who heard it from someone else and thought it be a good reason to discriminate.

  • mongo isnt bad, just the other way is better lol. when you push mongo footed at high speeds there is a much higher risk of falling, and also is harder to keep control especialy on a longboard

  • mongo pusher:D

  • no no no

  • wtf poor chicken Dx

  • What a legend!! Bah... speechless.

  • He pushes mongo, it doesn't count! (jk lol)

  • maybe it feels less tiring haha

  • I naturally push mongo, but I always switch pushing legs on a long trip.

  • it takes a man with real ballz to pull this off. he must have seen the most amazing things!

  • absolutely incredible and very inspiring!

wanna do something like that on a motocycle through africa.

  • lmfao that looks so god damn boring lol

  • you like big dees in yo moth

  • sorry my stupid cousin posted that

  • Amazing! Most of us will never be able to fathom your experiences in life. The fastest, most intense speedboarding run ever doesn't even come close in comparison. Makes me appreciate life just a tad bit more after seeing this. Your perseverence and tenacity is extremely rare in people today, a gift (or curse) i wish i had. What an awesome world we live in. Thanks Rob, I'm gonna go for a skate now!

  • em.. try not pushing mungo..

  • em.. try longboarding 1200km without alternating pushing legs.

  • em, instead of mungo, you could just push goofy.. it's the same but doesn't look as dumb. regardless. it's an amazing effort.. Well done.. I'm impressed..

  • damn, who cares if you push mongo. everyone should just care that he skated to china! bitch ass nigga get a fuckin life cunt cunt cunt cunt hahaha you like big dees in yo mouth

  • haha i didnt mean to type all that.

  • congratulation!!! you made it!

    what you did was amazing.

seeing your journey leaves me speechless, because of your dedication. it is just unbelievable.

Raphael (don't know if you remember me, from your last super camp in Switzerland right before you left)

  • Rapahel! I remember you. It is a long time since we broke those 'goal setting' boards by karate chop!

    Thanks for the message.

  • Rob,

I'll miss your pictures and commentary of your world travels, but I'll be sure to watch and read about your New Zealand trip. I've followed you since you left Japan by bike and have shared your experiences with my wife when I get home from work and I imagine myself experiencing the world with you as I follow along with your blog. I'm in Sacramento, California and hope that if you ever come back to the states that your route will be at a higher latitude.

    Sincerely, Matthew W

  • Matthew, thank you for that. It has been an interesting two years! I've still got another month or so of cycling in New Zealand to finish off.

  • Congratulations! You are a true inspiration.
