My favorite thing about this change in the theme is the fact they added a much more noticeable drum beat...right after the season ender with the Master. It's brilliant.

I like this theme the best. It's the only one, in my opinion, that actually does justice at combining the theme of the first doctor and invoking a new sense of adventure with the listener. I feel like the instrumentation and the use of a driving percussion section help give the song that feel. It's a little hard to describe.

However, I feel like they took away that element with the themes they've done for Eleven up to now...too much background and not enough emphasis I think...

This theme was premiered with the Voyage of The Damned Christmas special in 2007.  It was used for regular series 4 in 2008 and the subsequent specials running from 2008-2010. But again, the length of time it was used is absolutely meaningless in determining its quality. This theme suited the 10th Doctor to a "T" and remains the best stand alone intro in the history of the show.

The previous theme was definitely the superior version. The heart of the theme song has always been the electronic sound, particularly the early bit of the theme where the "alien noise" as I like to call it plays. To me, that sound and any variation of it will always make me think "Doctor Who." While I welcomed the addition of some real live symphonic backing with the 2005-2007 theme, as another commenter stated, the electronic takes a backseat to the orchestra.

I do prefe rht etheme b4 this one, but I don't get why ppl hate this one. Its great and exilerating and bttr than the current one (which is still good in its own way). Whatever ur opinion of it its unfair to slam Murray Gold for it since it was explained that ALL BBC programmes were having the length of time for thier opening and closing credits shortened down so the theme had to change. This is cringeworthy. It's so cheap and un-original. The first 4 themes were so creepy and god-like and in the 1980's it really kicked you into the show like it was telling you that you were going to like it. Murray Gold has butchered the theme with cheap High School Orchestra crap. To be honest, the quality of the new series itself is getting so bad that That I don't even bother watching it anymore.

Nowhere. It doesn't exist. There has never been a full theme recorded or released, the versions on the Series 4 Soundtrack CD are only the opening and closing versions.

@BowTiesRCool Yes, the version on the CD is the one used in "Voyage of the Damned", with the more "heavy" bassline found in the closing theme. This version with the "lighter" bassline was used on the TV episodes from Series 4 to "The End of Time"

I love this playlist! However, you seem to be missing some themes...here and there...I was kinda disappointed over A) No Delaware, B) no Re-edited Hartnell titles for Pat Troughtons 1st season (prior to his own opening sequence being created) no Voyage of the damned, no Dimensions in Time, or time crash either...its a great list, but those are just some themes you can add once you get the chance.

Reasons I omitted the themes you mentioned:

A) The Delaware version was never intended to be used in the show, so I didn't upload it.

B) The theme used for Patrick Troughton's first series is the same one used for William Hartnell's era.

C) I did upload the Voyage of the Damned, look under "Opening Theme (2007)" (top of the "Related Videos" box)

D) Dimensions in Time was never intended to be a proper episode, so it's theme doesn't really fit in.

E) Time Crash never had its own theme.

So we ended up with a version of the theme as cut by a gorilla with no sense of timing. Thankfully it was resolved for the DVD release...
