My grand daughter is 5 and has no Daddy. Two weeks ago she and her Gramps went FISHIN with her PINK BARBIE ROD AND REEL. @jarobinson85 Ive told him how i feel...nothing changes. Im ALWAYS the one asking to spend time with him. Its either drive inn movies, or just drivin around gettin truck/cars parts and we never talk. I try to talk about school, friends, whatever... but he doesnt listen

if you raise your voice and keep eye contact with him then you can get him to listen to you. if all else fails tear up and let it show that your upset!!! you cant want something and it just come to you. you have to take it! you will appreciate it more when you get it too.

My grand daughter is 5 and has no Daddy. Two weeks ago she and her Gramps went FISHIN with her PINK BARBIE ROD AND REEL. Gramps found this song this morning and came to get me to listen to it with him. Within the first verse we were crying in each others arms. Being grandparents gives you a blessed chance to love a child again in our lifetime. This song will go with us for many occassions for many years to come. Thank you Trace and whomever wrote this song....now we are goin FISHIN!!!!!!!!

@BadaBingGurly I am very happy for you. As a teenager I can say, some of the fondest memories I have are fishing with my grandfather and my grandmother. Be good to your grandkids by giving them those golden memories. This song reminded me of my sister sitting there with my dad and I must have listened to it twelve times since this morning.

I am blessed to have my Grandpa and my Dad both take me fishing.We still go out together on the weekends. Now that I have one of my own I can't wait till she gets older.

I dedicate this song to my Dad and my Grandfather. They both have been gone from my life for several years now. This is something we would have done when we went fishin. I learned how to fish from both of them, I still remember using a broken limb and a few feet of line with a hook. Miss both of you so much. Both of you were taken from my life way too soon. Love you both..

My Dad was not a good one and left when I was 9 BUT the few good memories I have of him was the two of fishing in the Detroit River (I must have been 6-7). I hadn't thought about it much but the other day I got a wild hair and got a fishing pole. Then I heard this song. I had to pull the car over to cry. I am 54 and like the song says "this memory's a big un"!

Honestly everytime this song came on the radio I changed the channel. I thought it was just a stupid song about a guy and his girlfriend. I never took the time to listen to it. Then yesterday I caught it at the end and heard the DJ say it was about a man and his daughter. So today when it came on I listened to it and I think it's great! My daughter is 13 and she loves to go fishing with my husband.

My daughter is just now learning what it's like to have a "Daddy" ... She'll be 9 in August and I'm getting married in January... My fiance takes her hunting and fishing, and although my Dad has for her whole life, there's still just something special about watching my daughter and her "almost Dad" fishing. :)

this reminds me of fishing with my gramps every summer and not realizing how us going out on the lake for the whole day was his way of us spending time together and him getting to know me better as i rambled on and on about everything and he just took it all in.. it was so much more than just fishin.
