  • I honestly can't stop watching this video...

  • what was the date of the date of this.... not just the year

  • I'm really ok with you, jerry must received an oscar for the two guys they were togother

and I think he will be very pride, it's time because he became to be old now

  • what's that songs name !!??

  • @lili1989AB2 You'll never get away

  • Until we --- again? What was that word? I think they both said different things...?

  • @Missytee96 meet

  • @Missytee96 You right Dean and Jerry say two different things. Jerry says "meet" while Dean says "abode". The meanings are a different. However both words make sense in the sentence and are similar enough to express the general concept of getting together.

  • "Go with my blessings!" Great line Dean, memory eternal!

  • Jerry is so Cute and funny!

  • jerry needed dean very bad, jerry said it himself, that if dean has not come along he would still be lips syncing to records

  • Gosh, with all the touching and chemistry going on ...you would think they were....Friends. I love that they could love eachother and still be men. This world is too homo phobic and its irritating that men cannot be this close without some moron calling them names or thinking things. It was a simpler , cleaner time. I miss it. =(

  • I LOVE this song there is something about it -its so HAPPY like they were I WISH I could go back 2 this time and bring them with me

  • You can't say Dean NEVER drank - he did, it was just apple juice on stage. And to call him a great father/husband is a stretch. Even his daughter Deana, when asked if he was a great dad, says "He was a great man". Nonetheless, these two were golden together.

  • IF it was 1953 than Jerry was 27 years old! I ADORE Jerry -Next month is his BD<3

  • If you want the true story read the book dean and me

  • This segment is probably one of the bpurest examples of their genuine talent and friendship. truly iconic!

  • ilove them,.so much

  • for me and my part NER!

  • Amazing!!!

  • such great comedy i wonder what happened to jerrys knee

  • this is hysterical.

  • They are both legends who I love equally and will live in my heart forever...

  • hey! jerry's up there hurt from all the funny falling he did trying to get him and dean known. he seriously got injured for that man but all u r doing is raving about dean. now dont get me wrong, i love dean. i send him a birthday card on a balloon to heaven every year but jerry did a lot more than just steal the laughs. he had to put up with a lot. dean got drunk a lot, was short tempured and jealous of the laughs jerry got. but even when he went out alone, he didnt do comedy. he was a singer

  • No, that's where you're wrong. Dean and Jerry were the best of friends! The facial expression of Dean that was dissapointed when Jerry got lots of cheers, was just an act. Dean never drank any liquor. He was a great father/husband to his family. The drink was just a gag. Don't get me wrong, but Dean and Jerry loved each other more than just friends, they loved each other like BROTHERS :).

  • but they did go through a rough spot where they wouldnt even talk to one another. frank sinatra had to surprise jerry by bringing dean to Jerry's Kids in order for the two of them to even look at one another and Jerry himself said he was the most upset because of Dean's drinking

  • grandes los dos ,me traen hermosos recuerdos.

  • That poor man- Dean had great patience. Jerry was super hyper from sitting in the hospital. Actually when he wasn't fooling around (and when was that?) jerry has a decent singing voice and Dean had a great sense of comedic timing that really wasn't ever shown, even with the rat pack he kind of got hidden

  • The straight man has to be at least as funny as his partner.

He has to feed the "funny" one the right lines.

Steve Martin is one of the best straight men out there.

  • A very great duo. Thanks for uploading. Please more!!!!!!

  • Dean was the perfect partner for Jerry. But Dean was extremely funny in his own right, and it's a pity that his sly sense of humor--which is quite evident in these Colgate clips--wasn't used to better advantage in most of their movies. Nevertheless, they are two amazingly talented performers, together or individually. (To his credit, Jerry always corrects people when they refer to the team as Lewis and Martin: "No, it's MARTIN and Lewis!")

  • In regards to the comments about the order of their names, Dean was billed first because it was a show biz tradition (in vaudeville, burlesque, nightclubs) to give top billing to the straight man. Hence, Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen, Rowan and Martin...even Mitchell and Petrillo. (Of course, there were exceptions to this rule.) Back in those days, a great straight man was a valuable commodity, and Jerry, being a great comedian, was fully aware of this.

  • Jerry lewis's voice isn't really deep but it wasn't as high as that. it was just something he was able to turn off and on(which is really cool). out of the 2 i don't think either was the leader. they were partners and best friends. Dean martin was bigger, physically wise, smooth, and suave and jerry kinda gave off this persona as being kinda of a monkey. so it worked to their benefit.

  • Actually, according to Jerry's book about the team, they were the same heighth, but yeah, Dean was broader. (I understand he was a former boxer, although I think it was mainly the "fight club" variety, not licensed.) Dean was also the one who gave Jerry is crewcut. In early photos, Jerry's hair was piled high on his head, pre-Elvis without the sideburns, and he complained that the orange-scented greasy combing stuff he used attracted flies. Jerry sort of stooped to look shorter, too.

  • Jerry Lewis didn't really talk like that did he? It was just for the show right? He has so many voices and faces I can't keep track!?

  • well you have to take into effect that he was only 19 vursus dean's 29, so of course jerry had kind of a high voice

  • of course but thats like abnormally high i dont know many 19 year old boys who talk like that

  • jerry wasn't 19 in this clip...if he was 19 it would've been 1945 and the colgate comedy hour didn't even start until 1950 so he was at least 23!

  • Says in the song it's 1953.

  • I've read that jerry lewis hurt his knee in a scooter accident. That's why he did this whole show sitting down. Previous clips were shown instead of new sketches in the show.

  • You have to remember or know that whilst Dean ended up the world super star, it was Jerry who first carried him into celebrity status and Frank Sinatra who later took over that role. Dean and Jerry were simply a super star team..

  • Jerry Lewis held his own while with Dean. Lewis was a comedic genius{sic}who it seemed like was more of deans shadow and not given credit of his own. But when we think of king of comedians at present time, its not deans name that comes up! Jerry Lewis was/is priceless who has given us his legacy! God bless both of them!

  • See, I think that Dean was overshadowed by Jerry a lot of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love Jerry Lewis, I think he is simply amazing but I don't think Dean gets the credit he deserves for being such a comedic genius.

  • but you have to admit, dean martin was realy the "leader" of the two, his name was first in "martin and lewis"

  • His name was first b/c of the alphabetical order thing. (dean) Martin and (jerry) Lewis

  • but he still was kind of the leader right?

  • i know what happend to jerry...during one of his performences at a night club with dean he fell during a number and hurt himself then went the the hospital for i belive 2-3 days but later on foind out he hurt his spinal cord witch is why we went on that medicen that had steroids in it so it meade himgain alot of wait. But jerry went in a rehab in 02 or 03 i belvie to get offthe steroids and now hes doin great!!!

  • Regardless of what happened in the end you can tell that these guys truly loved each other just from the looks in there faces and that transfered to the viewer in a unique and special way. These guys are so underapreciated today, they should get an honorary oscar or something...give the chance a kid! Don't shake him!

  • @CowboyAndy81 i love the give a chance a kid line! its great!

  • @CowboyAndy81 i agree full heartedly they need a marathon for them for like a week or somethin like that

  • Jerry's so cute.

  • meglovesrent said it perfectly.

You can tell these two partners really cared for each other. Does anyone know what actually happened to Jerry?

  • he's still alive, he did work for some charities and stuff

  • I mean how he hurt himself.

  • Thanks for posting that, those two men can turn any frown upside down. The mold was broken when Jerry Lewis enter the world, I honestly believe he is one of the funniest men, ever...There will never evee be another comedy team like Dean and Jerry

  • Absolutely a brilliant clip. Like Allen King said "the greatest act ever". Dean and Jerry...I love those guys!!

  • Oh, just great. Because, sitting there in that hospital, was a lonely place.

  • Smoking look very cool back in the 50's.

  • That was awesome

  • Indeed. Thank you very much! "Go with my blessing" lol.

You can really feel the love in the room.

  • Thanks so much for posting this gem!!!!
