I've been making my own music for over 30 years and I can tell you the melodies this woman composes are incredible, precise and harmonius. You were partly right, the word "uncertainty" was sung staccato. =) Staccato just means playing/singing a tone/note shortly, and it doesn't necessarily have to have a harshness to it.
