Rally Sliven Race in Bulgaria Abandoned after Ukrainian Driver Dies

Rally Sliven in Bulgaria was abandoned on Sunday after the death of Ukrainian pilot Andriy Alexandrov.

Alexandrov, competing on a Subaru Impreza, lost control during the 12th special stage, and dies on the spot.

Alexandrov's wife, who was his co-pilot during the race, was taken to hospital, but her life is not in any apparent danger.

RIP Andriy. He died on my home rally - rally Sliven. It was very sad accident and everyone felt in sympathy to his life Oksana. I was on this stage, but in the final, he crashed 400 metres after the start. When we understood about the crash everyone was hoping for Andriy to be alive, but this is our sport. RIP Andriy Aleksandrov, we won't forget you!!!
