these arent bad little amps.ive noticed they are trying to jack the prices way up for used ones. dont sucker to it. they arent that good. That MECURY transformer you put in it makes it sound a lot better. the stock tranformers are cheap little hammond/korg things. Ive owned 3 of these over the years, it was my first amp back when i started playing. they were about 200 bucks brand spanking new.
hey guys i might trade my drumset for one of these amp heads i see from your demo it sounds awesome but the only thing im concerned about is i have a b52 480 watt 4x12 straight cab and i was wondering if that head is gonna be able to scream out of this cab or if it is gonna be too weak to lift it up because i gig and rehearse often hope someone can answer my question thanks
What is the ohm rating on the b52 cab? As long and you match it to the head setting you will be fine. The 3203 will drive the cab, no problem. You will have no problem keeping up with your drummer.

I have a 3203 and 4203 with original 1965a cab g 10 35's,I was going to mod the 3203 with voodoo(mercury mags deluxe PACKAGE).its suppose to be extremely tight and focused with a lot of added gain, highly sensitive to harmonics after mod package. trace at voodoo( the owner )said it will be more like a 50 watter.I still have the drakes that are FINE.Your opinion please on the mod. who did yours and just a merc.trans was done nothing else?Thanks,Bobby
my opinion is dont take a 40 year old out of production marshall amp and chop it up. since this thread is mo ths old its probably too late, but thats my opinion anyway. : )
i got both, old vintage 4,,12 marshal with 25 watt greenbacks, and engl,, 4,12 vintage 30 cab, i like my old marshall better, less harsh, rounder sound. etc. both are great..
How do you like the AVT cab? I heard they weren't that great but it sounds fine to me. I was gonna get one and put 2 Vintage 30's and 2 Greenbacks in it. Or get an Avatar 2x12 with Vintage 30's.
I think it's not bad at all. It's about 4/5 the size on a regular 1960 cab. I thought about the Avatar 2x12 also, but I found the AVT412 lcally for $149 at Guitar Center, which I couldn't pass up. I may put in 2 vintage 30's myself. For now though, it works.
Lol I found one at my a Guitar Center for 229.99 but the shipping would be $100 so i'm leaning towards the Avatar now. Either the traditional or the vintage. Can't decide.
What's the changing with the mercury power transformers?

i have the 3203 and am looking at buying the 412 cab. sounds pretty good so i reckon ill buy one.

I've had both the 3203 and 4203. They rock, but I remember when I toasted the transformer it took forever.
Keep your eye out for the cab that goes with it.
and the 30 is perfect for a gig, because you can have it pegged.

These amps smoke. I had one in the 80's and I have another one now...same grill cloth also. Clean channel sucks....dirt channel rocks.
