    Would love to get more info on this vs your HTA2868 build. I'm considering both turbos, and your input would be invaluable. Goal is 500-550whp, but making power faster than 2860RS. Can't tell if the HTA68 builds power faster or slower, or if there's a turbo from a different manufacturer that will be a better choice...

  • my cousin had a 04 s4 we were drivin by the river he wanted to test it out no cops no one so my cousin just takes off i glue to my seat and i look at the speedometer 145 we hit a bump and the car flies up pointing to the river i almost crapped myself he turns off traction control and starts stabalizing it we were so friken scared

  • why do ur gears last around 5-10 mph longer than a stage 1-2? Is there stage 3 software that tells the engine to redine at higher RPM? As soon as my car hits around 7, it feels like it takes a shit and no more acceleration...

  • @jolio3151994 Oh wow man, please dont rev anything past 7k on your stock motor. First of all, your stock k03 turbos begin to lose boost past 5500rpms aso shifting at 6-6500 will benefit you more. Also the car in this video has upgraded turbos and a fully built head and motor to rev the way it does. Again, unless you want to damage your motor do not try to do what is done in this video

    I have a Stage 1 Apr S4. I'm looking forward to the intercooler and exhaust upgrades, but I've been told I should skip the normal stage 3 K04s. The guy that does work on my car says I should go with RS6 turbos for about 550hp. Is there a particular reason you went with the GTs? Thanks

  • @B5DuWalker just so you know the internals on a stock 2.7 should not exceed 500bhp or the life of the engine will significantly decreased so if your looking to upgrade to serious power i would do internals and go for the garrets because the k03's the k04's and rs6 tubos are all bushed not bearing and for smaller turbos bearing are much better spool faster and produce more boost not that spool time really matters in a s4 because no matter what its really fast my buddy has a apr stage3 b5 s4

    The RS6 Turbos will yield the best bang for your buck. Due to there larger size and heavier rotational mass, there optimal spool speed will be a lower RPM than the K04's and K03's therefor increasing turbo life under the hood.

  • @B5DuWalker Just know that when you go RS6 and bigger you really need to at least put some forged rods in the motor...that's a bare minimum.

    Happy with my Stage 3 of course, but yeah, GT28RS is in a different league to K04 + built engine.

    Killer car, man. This video has been inspiration to me since I started saving for my GT setup. Just curious - in the title you say GT28RS and in the video it says GT28R. Which one is it, actually? Judging by the acceleration, I'm figuring you mean GT28RS (2860), but I wonder since GT28R (2560) are pretty nasty, too.

S4's are alot more unique so i like them better. i like having something not everyone else has. but this s4 with the GT28 turbos would eat the new stang easily. but yes a stock 5.0 stang is faster than a stock s4 I'll give you that.

  • I know exactly what is in the car, you're trying to inform the informed. I have owned many of these cars (7 to be exact), currently a TT and a Jetta.  Outside of a better seating surface (better quality leather), higher quality carpet, and a few more interior touches, the drivetrain, which for some people is most important, the car has the EXACT same components as a MKV Golf and Jetta. Cross reference the part numbers, you'll see you're the ignorant one. ;0)

    Re-read my post(s) then and learn something, then actually get underneath an A3 and you'll see a transversely mounted engine. The first model year the 2.0 was ONLY available in FWD. They then put the 3.2 VR6 in there, which was still TRANSVERSELY mounted and utilizes a Haldex based

  • Quattro drivetrain, identical to the VW R32. All A4's, A5's, A6's and A8's have Torsen based AWD systems. The A3 and TT are the only Audi products sold here in North America with Haldex based Quattro systems which would place the engine transverse. Go do some work carl and trying to show someone up when you clearly are illiterate or just completely ignorant.

  • An S4 dropped can top out @ 187 I believe before the wind resistance will outweigh any more HP. You'd need to do some sort of downforce adding wing, etc.

  • Adding downforce adds to drag, so it will make top speed lower.....

  • at one point your car cannot go faster because the wheels stop making contact with the ground at a certain speed, so you need downforce to fix that but more hp to overcome the weight

  • No car can go fast enough where the lift produced by the car will actually lift it from the ground giving it no grip. The worst examples only go light at the front end. Plus, for best top speed you want a car that makes 0 downforce and 0 lift. Downforce and top speed do not go together. Sounds like theres to much ricer big wing theories in your head.

  • @AlexZTuned JHM just APR tuned my wife's A4 Cabrio. We're not power freaks (yet) but the car is like shit off a shovel now. She says it's like a dog pulling at a leash-it just wants to go, go, go. I'm thinking S4 next year. I was looking at an M3 but they said they can make an S4 an M3 killer and I'd still be well under budget. Very nice blokes over there, too. Had a lot of time for my newbies questions and I got to ride in that sweet RS4 you see parked out front.

  • Hello Newbie. I built the cylinder heads with a Supertech valvetrain. Inconel exhaust valves, Titanium retainers and stiffer valve springs. This allows the redline to be increased from stock to 8000 RPM. In fact, I can go even higher (8500 RPM) on the hydraulic lifters if I wanted to.

  • It recorded just about 550 HP to the wheels on a Mustang dyno with 93 octane pump gas and 25 PSI. Same configuration as in the video.

  • Ever thought about single turbo? a couple of guy's have done it. The lag would be my worry but, it makes the 700-1000bhp mark more achiveable. I've seen some under-hood shot's of a single setup and it's just pure spaghetti. The Y pipes were now the exhahaust, it was nuts.

    I don't see how the lag could bother anyone when there is so much top end...and quite franky, there's still a 6-cyl underneath to keep the low-end reasonable.

  • Cylinder heads are built with Supertech valve springs, retainers and inconel exhaust valves. Redline is set at 8000 RPM, I can rev it even higher if I wanted to :)

  • Damn thats crazy. I have a couple other questions. first why did you go for the gt28 kit instead of the common stage 3 kit from like APR or ASP or AWE? And second, how is the lag on the kit and when do you get full spool up? thanks

  • A common stage 3 kit will never come close to the power of the ARD 2.7T GT kit. The video speaks for itself. Lag is not bad, full boost comes on about 1000 RPMs later than a stage 3, but makes more than enough power down low for daily driving.

  • Yea see thats my worry. I want something to haul but I don't want it to be when its at like 5 6000 RPMs you know.

  • It's a trade off, if you want more power on a small displacement engine, you need larger turbos but there will be more lag. This is why I built the cylinder heads to rev the engine higher. Even though the powerband shifted, I get full boost from 4800-8000 RPM. Even before full boost, these turbos still make good power. I make 1 bar at 3800 RPM which still has great power. I drive this car every single day 24/7 and have no issues with lag in everyday driving conditions.
