@soaper125 My friend and I interrailed across Europe and decided that we wanted to see Auschwitz too. The only real way to go is if you stay in Krakow, Poland and arrange an Auschwitz/Birkenau tour from there. The tourist offices are everywhere in Krakow, it only takes an hour and a bit to get to from there. Definitely worth a visit, its life changing.

Hoess gave several different estimates, of course he had no way of knowing, he also said Eichmann had the true numbers. 2 separate lists were kept of the Hungarian Jews, both were around 435,000. Most of these people were never registered and no records were kept. I'd guess that at Auschwitz alone 1,000,000 is not an unreasonable number.
@bess1953 Yes, it is very sad. I've spent many hours looking at Holocaust related materials. Some things I recommend, a series of vids posted on YouTube called "Kitty Return to Auschwitz". It's pretty amazing. A survivor and sonderkommando in Krema 3 was David Olere. It was also an artist. Do a Google search for his artwork. There is a YouTube user that visits the camps and makes videos of them in their current condition. AlanHeath is his user name, check out his vids.

The estimate, however, was only a figure for the number of germans who perished in the concentration camps.

There were thousands people searching for their families after WWII and found none - also documented. The only real way to go is if you stay in Krakow, Poland and arrange an Auschwitz/Birkenau tour from there. The tourist offices are everywhere in Krakow, it only takes an hour and a bit to get to from there. Definitely worth a visit, its life changing.

Yes you just show up,it is a state museum. From Krakow you take a train to Oswiecim/Auschwitz station, then a taxi or bus. Auschwitz 2.
Birkenau is west of Auschwitz on the other side of the train tracks.There is a bus between the two. Good luck.

Most impressive. Just like the war cemetery in Normandy from D-Day. I was there 8 years ago and its something i will never forget, Auschwitz is on my to go list for sure.

Even Hoess said he wasn't allowed to keep numbers.
The 6 million comes from the total killed in the war.
Some say in the high 4 millions,some say 6.
The numbers also come from the Jewish population before and then after the war.
While the numbers may never be accurately known,there is no doubt millions died,the nazis did it,and they tried to exterminate all the Jews of Europe.
Then they had plans for Jews in other countries.

@bess1953 The exact number will most certainly never be known by anyone. There were over 1000 camps and sub camps. Hoess gave several different estimates, of course he had no way of knowing, he also said Eichmann had the true numbers. 2 separate lists were kept of the Hungarian Jews, both were around 435,000. Most of these people were never registered and no records were kept. I'd guess that at Auschwitz alone 1,000,000 is not an unreasonable number.

@bess1953 Yes, it is very sad. I've spent many hours looking at Holocaust related materials. Some things I recommend, a series of vids posted on YouTube called "Kitty Return to Auschwitz". It's pretty amazing. A survivor and sonderkommando in Krema 3 was David Olere. It was also an artist. Do a Google search for his artwork. There is a YouTube user that visits the camps and makes videos of them in their current condition. AlanHeath is his user name, check out his vids.

@bess1953 The 6 million figure was arrived at before the war began. In fact, it was floated in American papers as early as the 1890s (with the creation of Zionism); the most famous example being an article in the 1920s from Martin Glynn. You can still read his article today -- look into it

This fact is unrelated to and in no way the claims of millions being gassed. I am refuting not the war crimes committed by Nazis (although they were certainly not the only war criminals in WWII -- but you would not know it from the way these things are presented) but instead the officially accepted and approved Holocaust narrative. The six million Jews lost in a European "holocaust" (literally, a burnt offering) was a story that the Zionists had been trying to sell for 50 year pre WWII. @Uncle99B If you did any research, you should also know that Germans were very meticulously destroying evidence of being mass murders. Blowing up other camps, burning official documentation - when Berlin was under occupation, they were ordered to destroy everything - medical records from experiments, lists of prisoners etc. And if that is not proof enough, then please tell me WHAT hapened to those 6 million people? Where did they go? They just vanished in the air? Do some thinking.

As the russians were advancing, the Nazis were desperately burning as much evidence as possible because what do you think what would have happened if the Nazis were successful in destroying all traces of the holocaust? we would not be in this arguement. There is NO film or photo evidence of any kind to support the mass gassings story. There were several attempts in US periodicals to sell the 6 million Jews dying in Europe in a "holocaust" in the five decades preceding WWII. This is not "quibbling" with numbers. The failure of the British to hear one word about mass gassings despite having cracked the German Code early in the war. The lowering of the 4 million killed at Auschwitz to 1 mill yet the 6 million Jews killed number unchanged

Himmler himself visited Auschwitz-Birkenau to see how effectively these chambers ran. There is a video of him entering one of the chambers. Unless you deny the fact and blame Jews for setting Himmler up i very much doubt it. i will consider you a fool if you said that Himmler himself was innocent.
