This is the way I read Strauss-Kahn response to the question of his re-entry into French politics - off the record. He's interested in a run for President, but he's waiting for an attractive enough offer to be prompted towards pursuing such an initiative.

I liked his answer "no one as an individual is needed, let's talk about institutions that's better," which you could read as good diplomacy or a backhanded pitch for candidacy.
