@MrSuperRileymoore the start is downtown Chicago and the end on the santa monica boulevard in LA. I think the route 66 was closed because they build a new interstate highway next to the route 66.
honest question, why do European people have such a fascination with Rt 66, i'm from New Jersey and it seems nice to ride on if you're running away from parents or starting a new life or something lol but besides that, idk, seems cool but wouldn't be something on my things to do before i die... anybody care to explain why they like it?
we drove from route 66 to get to MS, well, starting from kingman az, going through tucson, phoennix, albuquerquee NM, santa fe, Amarillo, TX, san antonio, houston, dallas, and wichitaw falls, i think got off of 66 in lafayette, LA
@fambruinsma Good old route 66 i got to drive half of it 2 years ago i went from Dallas to LA then up to San Fran. Just wondering but what was your favorite part of the route mine was the Mojave desert and Death Valley
@fambruinsma hey this is Awasman777 if you remember me i got a new account and im here to tell you im going to be driving the route again this summer from LA to Dallas i cant wait
Thanks ShaggyRoggers, it is a really cool route to drive, lots off beautifull roads! So, if you ever got the change to drive the route66, do it... ;-)

We traveled for 5 weeks on the route 66 :-) but just driving the route 66 would take you between the 12-15 days.

@funtyrone ....Historic Route 66 doesn't go through San Antonio, Houstin, Dallas, or Wichita Falls, nor does it even go through any of Louisiana.....
