  • where did you get this?

  • What was that Lee Marvin movie???

  • pleez fire it. pleeeeeez

  • My dad has that gun its been passed down from my grandfather ... in very shitty condition though.

  • does this gun have a 28 inch barrel with full or modified choke? if so please please please please post a hunting video preferably waterfowl, upland is good to.

  • these shotguns are really historic

  • Wow, thanks guys.

  • Thanks for posting this very good and informative video about a super shotgun. I have this same model in 16 gauge.

  • Really really awesome!

  • :O under 400! You can buy a brand shiny trench gun for that!

  • damn man, you get some of the rarest and coolest old guns., your old 1911 vids are some of the best on youtube as well.,. keep it up, your killin the competition

  • @MultiSr16

Thanks, but there's no competition, we are all on the same side

  • You know.. I've always wondered which shotgun the assassins used in the movie Bullitt, and I think this is it. They disassembled it in almost the same way that you show in the video. Cool gun. I really want to pick up a replica of the trench version they used in WWI. Maybe get a matching bayonet as well..

  • @crazyfvck According to guns in movies, it is this gun.

  • I just inherited TWO 1987 Winchester 12 guage shotguns. Barrel length is about... 28 inches. Any ideas how much they'er worth? One is missing the recoil pad, both are in fair condition.

  • Its not always wrong to take a life either. Not if its in self defense.

  • my dad has a 1910

  • Beautiful gun. Thanks for that vid.

  • pure american sex!

  • What is the differences between a Winchester Model 1912 and a Winchester 1897?

Is the only difference that the 1897 have the hammer on the outside?

I have a Model 1912 that I got from my grandfather after his death for 7 years ago. It's made in 1937 and is in caliber 16 gauge. It's a great gun and I use it for hunting.

  • I love John Moses Browning he is and was the greatest gunsmith who ever lived

  • Damn, the stock looks in pretty good condition (Assuming that someone hasn't fiddled with it)

  • $400 thats hell expencive!!

  • niceeeeeee!

  • take in mind it goes for around 400$ because its in poor shape great condition is worth much more

  • My dad has 1! It was my great grandfather's 1897 that was made in like 1905! :D

  • You guys think this particular gun has ever taken a human life?

  • @theguy614

I think it has a 99% more likely chance to have lived it's whole life in a closet or safe.

Do you go to a car museum and ask how many times someone got run over by each car?

  • @GunWebsites No i do not. but come on, you never wondered yourself? I suppose it may just be my morbid sense of curiosity. Anyways, you're probably right, it probably did sit in someones wardrobe for years.

  • @GunWebsites With old guns, its different though. This gun (As you clearly stated) Was used to clear out trenches. And also, if you had been showing a civil war cannon, or somthing from that era, the question arrises if it has ever taken a life. But there is no way in really knowing that the weapon you're holding has taken a life unless you've killed sombody with it yourself,so his question is pointless. But as you said its most likley spent its entire life in a closet or been to the range alot.

  • @GunWebsites thanks guys you are always so informative and helpfull.

  • @GunWebsites Although, guns are made for killing purposes a lot more often then cars

  • @olaf702

What? Do you think machines (things) are responsible for actions of the people who do things to other people (good or bad)?

All firearms are "made to" push bullets, thats it. And most firearms are actually "used for" hunting or sporting use. Few compared to the total number are ever used for violence

And still more cars cause damage to people no matter what they are "made for"

  • @GunWebsites hey man, isn't there a shotgun of this same model made to fit a bayonet. . . i know that i've seen it on more than several occasions,i didn't know they had different models of it. . i know that this one here's barrel is much longer than the one that i am thinking of. do you know the difference and maybe where i could pick one up like this? it's a very interesting weapon, indeed.))Winchester Model 1897 (the Tenaka) right? bayonets always make me feel safer when i'm hog hunting alone

  • @killiotta1

Yes, the military version of this one.. but it would be about 3 times (or more) the price of this one

  • @killiotta1 Norinco in China makes reproductions of the 1897 Winchester which are marketed in this country by Interstate Arms. One version of the gun is the Model 97T Trench Gun. Interstate lists the price of their Trench Gun at $464.95 but most places usually sell them for less. Both R&R Arms and Buds Guns list the Trench Gun but are out of stock. If you get one get an original Model 1917 or Pattern 1913 Bayonet on E bay they are much better than the reproductions.

  • @theguy614 Guns don't kill people. Only the men who fired with them does.

  • @theguy614 you never know

  • @theguy614 yes, it have-.-

  • @theguy614 of course its the trenchgun

  • @theguy614 People take human life you moron. the guns don't.

  • @CJLongoproduction09 earthquakes as well! ban them!

  • @theguy614 im not shure it was a military model that one didnt the military models com with a shorter barrel and a heat shield?v

  • @siralexu It did. And a bayonet lug. I have a friend that owns one. Not a reproduction, it was government issue. I'm going to see if he'll let me shoot some video of it and get it up here on YouTube.

  • @theguy614

Honestly, I bet it has killed it's fair share of ducks and clays.

  • I love the action on this gun and the slam fire is nice too! Overall I love this gun never owned one, but it is sure to be my first shotgun!

  • All shot guns have a hammer!!

  • Will the Enfield bayonet work with this gun?

  • @Rivethead109

no, not that I am aware

  • @Rivethead109 The trench gun variation had a bayonet lug for the 1917 Enfield bayonet. Norinco makes a reproduction of the trench gun, but good luck finding an original.

  • wow that is neat

  • Cool vid. i have the same one and never knew they came apart like that. Thanks

  • @worldsend142

    cool, glad it helped

  • @GunWebsites is that the winchester model 1897 because the barrels a bit longer..lol

  • Its a trench gun with a longer barrel :D

  • Dude cut the berrol down eave with the berrol pin

  • Thats pretty expencive. I bought a 1913 stevens single shot shotgun for $120 and a 134 cal db WW Greener for $100.

  • they usually made these sawed off shot guns because it was rather easy

  • My step dad has the same gun...it is the cililian model like yours but he had the war issued model but he sold it to a museum sinc it had no meanin to him the civilian model was hes great grandpas

  • @2066241

Thats a cool part of firearms IMO.. their history and how some are passed down for many generations

  • @GunWebsites Yea it is interesting to hear about them and see them, He also has a .22 German sniper rifle from WWII and a 410 Bore that his grandpa had as a kid!

  • @2066241

A .22 German sniper rifle from WW2? That's certainly... unique...

  • @lordsummerisle87 Yea it is cool...I hav eto send you a picture sometime...I thought they would use pigger ammo But it is a nice gun

  • does your shotgun also have the ability to have a bayonet moounted?

  • @Narancazz

    no

  • @Narancazz Whats the use in mounting a bayonet on a shotgun?

  • @KaiserReich98

Easier than holding the bayonet in one hand and using the shotgun one handed

  • @GunWebsites Just eliminate the bayonet from the situation. I just think its unnecessary to mount a bayonet on a short range weapon.

  • @KaiserReich98

I am OK with you thinking that, more power to ya..

But I will side with the combat vets of WWI and keep my shotgun mounted bayonet

  • @GunWebsites totally agree i mean if its a close range weapon wouldnt it make more sense to have a bayonet when you got guys running at you close range and your out of ammo?

  • @KaiserReich98 ok when you run out or ammo then bitch about not having a bayonet

  • @XvChriisvX It takes like 5 seconds to load 6 shells. I would rather take 5 seconds loading my shotgun in cover, than go crazy and charge the enemy with a bayonet. This isnt the civil war.

  • @KaiserReich98 im talkin about when you have 0 shells left or if your shot gun fails to shoot

  • @KaiserReich98 they were designed to fight in the trenches in WWI and on thru into Korea. The magazine only held 5 rounds. So having the Bayonet may have been your only weapon till you could reload in a hurry. I believe the one in the video was a sporting model takedown.

  • @KaiserReich98 in case your out of ammo in CQC and you had an enemy coming towards you, you at least had a chance to take him down with you....thats me idk bout,,,maybe you dont wnat to and die for not using everything to your advantage

  • @KaiserReich98 say youre in a trench, and youre fighting a guy and your buddy walks behind the guy youre trying to shoot. thats one situation

  • you should do a comparison video of an original and the IAC M97 replica.

  • btw your dryfiring a historic gun from 1905 dumbass

  • @videocritic8888

Yes I am.. it really bothers you too, eh?

  • @videocritic8888

you do know that unless you dry fire it 500 times its not going to hurt it dumbass. that dryfiring paranoia is just over hyped bs. just like breaking in barrels. im sure its just a display peice now anyways. why the hell would fucking anyone want to shoot a gun that ancient?

  • @videocritic8888

    It's a well-designed centrefire, it's not really an issue.

  • nice gun do you sell it?

  • How many bullets can you fit in the mag of this?

  • pretty sure you can just fit 5, its been a while since ive shot mine so im not positive

  • lol my uncles freind has one and now i got to understand why they are called the thumb buster . . .

  • im really not liking the dry firing of the shotgun dry firing is not good but other than that great video

  • While they were poisoning each other with mustard gas the Germans went to the Geneva Conventions and said this weapon should not be used because it was inhumane.

  • LOL funny cause its true.

  • @SimonLy90

lol the germans used mustard gas retard. they also caged up a million jews and gased them 2. or just put them in slave labor camps. but anyways. your right. mustard gas IS inhumane.

  • @Lonewolf6565 Troll much?

  • @SimonLy90 irony at its best isnt it. they claimed it caused "un-needed pain to soldiers" well no shit...

  • Nice video. You mentioned it is reliable and sturdy, but didn't say that it is also a great shooting gun. The fact that they are still actively used in competition means there are a lot of spare parts and a lot of folks that are good at slicking them up.

I got a nicely reworked one, also over a century old, that looks good, shoots great and is probably the most reliable gun I have ever owned.

If you are shooting heavy loads all day, you're likely to be reminded about it later though!

  • thats bettet than some shotguns today

  • so can you get extra barrels for that?

  • technically = yes

    realisticly = I doubt you'll find many

  • doesnt matter... i could make one myself, and furniture for it too... so i may buy one, restore it, keep the origional parts, and go from there... or just buy a replica to do it all to..

  • @megadeth22885 You can get really good reproductions of the 1887.

  • i want an 1897 though.. would be nice to get one sometime

  • @megadeth22885 I meant 1897 also. Both you can get as reproductions. i saw one here in very good condition for about 1000

  • are these easy to find?

  • I know of at least two for sale around town

  • my bud has one matching numbers WWII military edition still shoots dead accurate

  • i have that same gun but it has a slug barrel on it

  • isnt that a trench gun?

  • almost, they had barrel shrouds and bayonet mounts

  • @GunWebsites well i have the exact thing u have and i like to call mine a trench gun it is basically

  • why the thumbs down?

  • best and coolest lookin shotgun in the world. thats my oppinion.

  • the 97 is a recent love story for me. Both me and my buddy bought one each a year ago and they're a blast. Since neither of us hunt waterfowl we immediately removed the block in the magazine. I can fit 5 in the magazine and one more in the chamber. (if you buy the short home defense rounds you can fit over 9 shots in the magazine alone) Mine was made roughly around 1907-1914, not sure exactly, but it got refurbished, so I got if for only 300 bucks. Great vid, beautiful guns.

  • You can go online and look up the date of manufacture by the serial number and know when your gun was manufactured.

  • my friend has one of these but he has taken off like 5 inches of the barrel (cut off i mean)

its pretty cool. im sure he didn't know about the trick where you hold down the trigger.

  • what choke dose it have?

  • not sure.. I'll ask around

  • i dont think it has a choke. I shot my friends last weekend and its an 1897

  • Thanks for the plug.

Does yours have the letter "C" stamped in over the serial number?

  • thanks back at you, I really enjoy your vids.. I'll have to look for that "c"

  • I looked today at what I think was the same one (at the same store) and it had a letter "d" above the #

  • It might be a little newer then you were told, but not much.

Revision D's came out around 1910-1915 I think.

My revision C shoots modern 2 3/4" shells just fine.

    Good luck with it.

  • Really cool shotgun. Are you able to slam fire with yours? How many rounds does it hold?

  • 6 i think

  • Nice, your 97 is 4 year older than mine. Great gun.

  • so yours is still over 100 years old, that's cool

  • yah ugot it....love the reviews on the older firearms.....always cool to llok at....i have a chance to perchus a 1897 pump...but i think ill go with the remington 870....great vid keep up the good work....

  • tough choice.. I guess I'd go 870 if I planned to use it a lot

But I would kinda like to go dove hunting with a 104 year old shotgun...

  • good vid..hay love the firearm....how about changin the back drop?....other than that love the vid....

  • what change the multicam ???

We have thought about some other colors, we are looking into it

  • i own a wincheter model 12 and it has some of the same features as the 1897 such as the take down method and the slam fire capibilty plus it will hold 7 rounds with one in the chamber not bad for just a sporting shotgun plus mine has some cool features like a cutts compensator and some nichel plateing but i dont think its oringinal. winchester model 1897 and model 12 are both very cool and something that gets past down through the family.

  • This one is cool.. but a bayonet... well thats a trench gun

They don't have the slam fire feature anymore though

  • Now that an Old School Shotgun

    5 starts :O)

  • i think any FA that can last over 100 years is a well made gun! damn cool vid dude.

  • thanks the shotgun did all the work, I just turn on the camera

  • I'll do a review of my version of this one next.. Have you thought about doing a video of yours ??

  • Oh! A trench gun, awesome!

  • well this is the hunting version of the WWI trenchgun

  • nice 5/5
