WXIA was number 2 in Atlanta. Even though John Pruitt was there, they could NOT beat WSB's Action News delivery. John Pruitt joined WXIA in 1978 and remained there until 1994. Pruitt returned to WSB on Monday, July 4, 1994.

@kingofphilly1985 not true...back in those days there were two ratings services and in the mid to late80s WXIA was winning the 11pm due to NBC blockbluster primetime according to Nielsen, but Abritron said WAGA & WXIA was neck to neck while WSB #3, but that was brief moment..WSB has always been the leader WAGA & WXIA have fought for #2
