  • Awesome......incredibly beautiful.....I love "Rachel's" music videos, and admire her in every way. She must be about 12 now (July 2010), and I'm eager to hear more from her as she progresses. I wish her every success and happiness in her music.

  • Excellent. Beautiful playing, Rachel!

  • Hermosa y excelente ejecucion, muchas felicidades Rachel.

  • Uploaded 2 1/2 years ago and you play already some parts of this composition feathery so Mozart meaned.

  • why do people move like they have a jug of water on their head... and when they finish playing they almost smash their heads into the keys... i like enzo becuse he doesnt move in his chair like hes got somewhere to go

  • omg, i don't care whether they hit their head, bit their tongue or make whatsoever stupid facial expressions. it doesn't matter. on the cd there's just the music, if you can't handle vids just sroll down until the pianist's finished.

  • Kleppyknox, if you are a human, you tend to move because you are alive! Do you expect youself sit stiffly only your fingers move while you playing piano? Only robot does!

  • Oh. Okay.

  • omg i just commented about that!! Your comment made me laugh omg but I move like that when I play and I don't know why I do it! I started to notic i do it like a month ago and im like woooow i look like a crazy person!!

  • lol man your comment is pretty funny, in a positive way ;)

  • Lol. It's suppose to be something like 'expression', the way you move when you play an instrument that is. I use to sit still when I play the piano last time and my teacher practically forced me to move my body when I participated in a competition. She said the judges give you marks for it (moving your body and looking as if you enjoy the music that is)

  • yeah i don't move around much. i don't see the point. but it does make you look like you're enjoying the song. whenever i move around i feel like a freak.

  • yes, i dun move much while i am playing piano.

  • Lovely. I think Mozart would have loved to hear her play. Young musicians play without the bagages of grown-ups. They play with purity and clarity.

  • It's like riding a bike.

  • One word: Amazingg....

  • Boring song.. Give her better material please.

  • it's not a "song" It's a Sonata by Mozart; just because you don't the mental brain power to comprehend it doesn't mean it's "boring"

  • A sceptic musical mind might think for it self.

I did on this one. It's plain and kinda dull.

written in the 18 hundreds right?

It's old school it doesn't make it perfect.

  • 1800s? You don't even know when Mozart lived, so don't make stupid comments until you at least make an attempt to educate yourself.

  • Okay lets make it 1756 then.

A classic period that many musicians based their music on after that thinking it was "The thing you should be able to play". Doesn't make it good mate.

That was my point. It's childish if you listen to it closely. Genius sure but childish.

Again it's plain and kinda dull.

  • Genius? Childish? Plain/dull? Wish you'd make up your mind.. You're kind of genius and insightful in an ignorant sort of way. And kind of irritating.

  • A classic period? The Classical Period, are you saying? I don't get what you're talking about. Are you saying this music's, childish, plain and kind of dull. I think you should try other wonderful pieces by Mozart and rethink about your statement. I recommend listening to piano concertos No.20, 21, 24 etc and late symphonies. Mozart's music may be pure, but childish isn't the word to describe the complexity of it.

  • It's proper to get the date right because the music of 1800s differs from that of the Classical period dramatically. Wasn't 1756 when Mozart was born? There were huge advancements in music during this period that we can't just consider the different periods as the same.

  • ma quanto sei brava?????? fantastica!!!!

  • i like it my mother send me learn the piano the time i love you like a flary there and i am 11 now i fisish the 8 grade !!!

  • Yes. I totally agree. She needs training and refining by a real concert pianist and she would be AWESOME! She has the feel and sensitivity somewhat, but no technique (yet) to bring it out. It's too mechanical because she needs more legato. Nonetheless, she has a real talent. I wish I was this young again!!! Dammit!

  • She is so good!!!!!!!!!!

  • COOL!! A Great Job!!

  • COOL!! A Great Job!!

  • Great, but I wish the notes played by her left hand were softer.

  • @ jymqlassheroes

I think in her age it is played "well" enough! It is amazing that she can move her hands that way. All the runs and trills are just great! I think the perfection will come when she's a little bit older!

  • The touch is too heavy for Mozart. Even the opening phrase was not done musically. In addition, her technique is not adequate to play this piece. All the thrills were not done correctly or musically. She needs to be polished by a good piano teacher. She definitely has the talent. I can tell that she did not feel this song, she played mechanically, no imagination at all.

  • i have to agree there is a technical problems , its obvious that she is playing and might i add quite wonderfully ! it looks like the feed was going to slow for her incredibly fast hands !

  • AWESOME! You are a great pianist, Rachel! Keep playing!

  • thansk for barbarian insults I received just for saying "chinese machine". This is a lesson of democracy and respect:-)

Anyway "machine" is not a insult. And Anyway again you must be able to accept all the comments.

And remember, I don't change my idea about interpretation (I repeat: INTERPRETATION) just because the lady is 9yo.

Also Mozart was 9yo old. Ok?

    Brava, but again Chinese machine.

  • foerster - she's Taiwanese. Not everyone who's Asian is from China.

  • ma non ti vergogni?

    Milanese di merda.

    Meglio gli asiatici che voi

    presuntuosi.

E'incredibile la tua ignoranza sui popoli

    Maria

  • Excellent job, Rachel! You will be a great pianist if you keep working on it!

  • Ehmmm when I'm looking at the hands.. and listen to the music,, it doesn't match anymore... :) Is this a technical problem?

  • what do u mean??

No, it is not a techincal problem

  • she's not playing!!!

  • What r u talking talking about???

    She is playing!!!!

Anyone who is also playing the piano know that this is not fake!!! See her other videos, do u think they are fake???!!!!

  • i agree with hedgewytche there, but i do think shes got alot of talent

  • wow thts great

  • This is good. I like it. Really good. Do a competiton.

  • where go all chinese ? into the wall. What will she do at 15 ? too much chinese pianists

  • She is Tawainese

  • nice putting emotion into the song :) good job

  • Yeah these kids are programmed, they will never come up with anything exciting or new. They have no imagination because they do not grow up normal.

  • If growing up normal means becoming like you, BurgerTrench, then let's hope and pray that she continues to remain outside the norm!

"Yeah these kids are programmed, they will never come up with anything exciting or new. They have no imagination because they do not grow up normal."

  • hehe, lovely

  • ok....now i think that she didnt really plays the song cause i know this song really well and i can even dream of the piece so i actually know which note it is...and she didnt really plays it on the right timing...yes i addmit that she is good but she cheatted in here....

  • its the delay on the camera ^-^

  • w.e!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah.. it's a delay on the camera, but also on youtube. Of course, if their upload rate is fairly small, it can degrade the quality of the video and the timing between the picture and audio. If you sped up or slowed down the video, I'm sure the two would match.

  • cute asian girls who play piano well have become a cliche...but she's great..

  • this sonata is easy don't kid yourself...as for the other videos...brilliant.

  • an other chinese machine. Brava...

  • She is not a machine. She plays with feeling

  • You are such a Cochon. This girl's only a machine as far as she is a playing machine- her technique for a 9 year old is flawless, and her delivery isn't flat. It doesn't have the maturity of someone who has been playing for decades, but most amateurs would wish to be able to be at her current level.

  • I agree 100%. For 9 years old her technique is astonishing. And I think she has a high level of miscality and a very high dosage of talent!

  • Please, "machine" is not a insult. So you are a cochon.

  • Nice to see that she really enjoys playing while we enjoy listening and watching! What a lovely girl!

  • Wow again. All of your videos rock. I can play the piano, but NOT LIKE THAT! You deserve a grammy or something. It is so wonderfull that you can play the piano with so much grace :-)

  • Well, it seems to be a soundtrack over that video... Am I wrong?

  • You do appear to be wrong. Rachel has a number of outstanding pieces available on youtube, but the sound and video are occasionally out of sinc as an uploadingissue. But she is really that good.

  • you are wrong : ) she owns

  • what a joyful kid :D it was beautiful^-^

  • Obviously she enjoys playing and she practices a lot. To me, that's more than enough for a young girl! Her video clips are all wonderful; I only hope my daughters will play as well as her when they grow up. Passion and discipline lead to success no matter which career she pursues.

  • but i'll play it well. : )

  • i dont see anything interesting, unless you find a machine interesting.

  • i agree but consider that she is still young

  • Sounds good! Children who play so well at such a young age are always fun to watch, but I truly believe that the "life experience" gained over several decades of social interaction, historical study, personal struggle, and hard work add that extra bit of musical finesse that Rachel is not quite capabale of just yet. Once she learns a few dirty jokes, endures her first relationship, et cetera, her Mozart will be even better.

  • Sorry to disagree with you, but some kids can play Mozart better than adults BECAUSE they are pristine and unadulterated. Somehow Mozart's music reflects the innocence of children best.

About the performance--please start the trills from the upper note. It's easier to match with the left hand, and also more historically "correct." (ex) the first trill in the right hand can be played D-C-D-C-D-C-D-E.

Also, experiment with some occasional pedals.

  • not true dude, to understand mozart's spirit you must have studied and practise music for a long time.

  • She has potential but she needs a better piano teacher.

  • NICE!!

  • I think you play well for your age.As you grow up,you will surely find the beauty beyond the notes.Be a good person, then a good mussician, and finally,a good pianist.

  • Very nice playing coming from one of her age. I'm already seeing musical maturity.

Like gripo, my main comments would be to watch the trills and the dynamics. Certain sections could be milked a little more (0:34). I agree with him to watch the ending of phrases. This piece should be leggero, but not staccato.

This looks like a promising musician! She has the notes, and most certainly the capacity to embrace the musical aspects later.

  • A bit too staccato true, but despite Mozarts assertion that passagework should "flow like oil", he himself reportedly played in a slightly clipped style - so this little girl is probably closer to the original interpretation than many established virtuosi. I liked it.

  • If he did, it's because his pianos were different.

And I wouldn't go so far as to say that Mozart played his music the best. Oftentimes performers are better interpreters than composers. That doesn't discredit her stylistic choice though.

  • This is very pretty and very clean. You'd be surprised at the number of older pianists who cannot play this piece nearly as well as Rachel. Mozart is hardest.

  • Very good playing, Rachel! Give the last notes of each phrase their full strength and full length of time when you play them. Don't rush through the end of each phrase. Imagine that you are letting sweet little birds (notes) land on the branches of a tree. Let them stay there and rest for a while, for the full length of each note. Don't shoo! them away so quickly! Let them sing clearly and strongly, so everyone can hear them!

  • Wow!What a scene,You must be a good professor,Many Thanks

  • Thanks, you are very kind and very welcome! Rachel plays like a songbird, singing her heart out! It's a pleasure to see and hear her play! Best wishes to you and your family!

  • Beautiful description rabbit787. I love people who think like you. She is a joy to witness. You can tell she loves

    playing.

  • Thanks for comment

  • Well done indeed that has not come from anything other than hard work and lots of practice, keep it up, but the main thing is you must enjoy your playing and that will then tell in your music, make it yours.Well done.

  • Beautiful! Espacially the rythmic figures

  • oh nice parents u buy her a grand piano for practice, my parents wont even tune my piano when it's almost time even it need to be tune now, had to wait exactly the day

  • Rachel, congratulations to you, and your wonderful piano teacher and guardians who encourage you to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE - you are already a much better pianist than I am!

    Your friend,

    Duke

  • Wonderful performance! Congratulations. The audio and video do not seem synchronized, though.

  • Reminds me of what a young Mitsuko Uchida might have been like. Wonderful! Keep studying, please.

  • They say that Mozart is too difficult for virtuosos and too easy for child prodigies; but your daughter plays it very well indeed, and the Prokovief and Beethoven even better (lets hope that she can reach an octave in the next year). Congratulations! What is her age now?

  • Thanks for your comment.She is 8 y/o now

  • you are fantastic already, when your older you will be untouchable, well done.

  • very good performance. How long have you been playing

  • Thanks for your comment.Rachel had matured this repertoire(KV 330.Mvt 1~3) last year in 2 months. She reviewed for 2 hours before this recording
