Great Video, And yes Second life is a great way to learn anything.
A training room / Classroom can now be built without the costly expence of buying and setting up numbers of computers..because the students use there own..no more commuting. And now with Opensim being developed, we can all run out own servers from home of our office.

Im a teacher and use computers alot. I if you picture a classroom of 30 kids trying to log on, create an avatar, then getting them to not run of an explore their exciting new video game (your not letting them play) is a problem. I bet there are less painful ways of showing the chemical strudture of asprin.
I heard secondlife#s big thing is a hook up point for people looking for online sex. Ive never played it but are very doughtful if id expose children to that risk. So blue for me!
@adyummi I agree with those points.. I think this is good as a proof of concept, though. Software with the same learning capabilities, but without the factors we don't want, will eventually be around, and is to some degree already. "Revolution" is an interesting educational module of Neverwinter Nights that was completed a few years ago. A few of the things SL is capable of were realized in that module.
there is no need to have 30 students sign on at once - that is what a traditional teacher would want to do. nor should you think about taking kids to a sex club down the street. You have the FREEDOM to make wise choices for yourself and your students. Green for me
Thanks for succinctly sharing some of the strengths of using a 3D world. I'm sure this will help me get my school colleagues interested in investing the time in-world to experience SL for themselves.
An excellent presentation of the potentials of Second Life as an example of a multi-user virtual world, (for those who explore them and love learning new ways of doing things). I'll be sharing this one! Thank you, Janice White
In many years from now, we'll look back at this, laugh and think how primitive it all was. By then we should be able to live in a virtual world just like the "Matrix"
Depends on your life, I guess.. I know plenty of people whose real life bodies are trapped in wheelchairs or beds, who quite enjoy being dragons and flying around, and talking to people from all over the world, for free...
Great work.. Good job Tony!

Big class at once, individual project or a few small groups in different sandbox is not a big deal. I have done all.
